So I decided that in a brilliant attempt to lampshade the idea of a Multiverse and it's associated tropes like Another Dimension and the Alternate Universe. I was just wondering If I was heading in the right direction, your thoughts and any ideas that might improve it.

First of all, all Alternate Universes that feature alternate versions of the cast are called Parellel Realities. I admit, this is solely for selfish aesthetics, but it's also the technically correct terminology. I'm trying to be creative with the science of today...if that makes sense.

Now, another thing I'm trying to do is lampshade the idea of the Numbered Dimension. I figure that any Parallel Reality that the cast visit, the inhabitant will believe their world to be the original and vice-versa. Resulting in characters refering to their respective realities as Earth-1 and Earh-A, or Earth-Alpha and Earth-Quis etc. I don't know if this has already been done before, but I think it's clever. Please tell me otherwise.

I'm also changing the way Mirror Universe characters are protrayed. Rather than being simply Bad versions of the cast, I'm playing around with Alternate History in order to create more realistic counterparts...give or take. Take for example The Prime-Mate, and his Parallel Reality counterpart Mega Mouse.

In the original reality, The Prime-Mate is a Super Intelligent Gorilla who plans to purge humanity in order to restore ecological balance. He gained his intelligence from an experimental nootropic (i.e smart drug).

In a Parallel Reality, The Prime-Mate's counterpart is Mega-Mouse; a Super Intelligent mouse who is one of the most celebrated scientists on Earth. He gained his intelligence from a far more powerful version of the drug while it was still in the rodent phase.

Well that's what I have so far. I'm still playing around but I think I got something good. Thoughts.

EDIT: Phew. Fixed...ish.

Sound like a good idea. No-one has really tired to take apart the Parellel Universe trope before.

Well, start with Lampshading that it's usually called another dimension despite the fact that it does not, in fact, have another dimension.

Second, that joke about trouble with word names, has been done before, but not as often as you might think, so I still think it’s fresh enough.

Also, I think the mirror universe thing were the doubles are not evil but simply different has been done, but neverless is a lot more original.

Also, Prime-Ape should have already developed an alternate-universe travel device, and would use it to play chess against Mega-Mouse every Saturday.

Make it so.

I didn't even think of lampshading the dimensions/realities thing! Thanks for the tip!

Y'know, I can actually see those two doing that. Granted I'm sure the rather polite Prime-Mate would tire of Mega Mouse's ...errr blunt personality rather soon.

Another idea I have is that some of these parralel realities do in fact have more than the 3+1 dimensions in our current subspace of the universe. Simply if our reality has the classic spatial dimensions plus time, then perhaps other realities possess less or more. This could lead to a reality where space (spatial that is) is, for lack of a better word, "Fucked Up". Of course this is coming from my ability to understand current String Theory.

In Neal Stephenson's latest book (Anathem) there's a variation of the "many worlds" theory. Instead of being parallel and theoretically equivalent, the universes form a hierarchy, with each one forming a model or derivation of the one above it, while serving as the pattern for others below. That's a very rough summary. If it sounds like it could work for you, I'd recommend reading the book.

Under World. It rocks!

Intresting idea. Could have the same thing in reverse, too.

What would happen if an object moved to a universe where a dimesion it was relying on dosn't exsist there?

checkmate. I really dont know. Possibly the same thing that happened to Mr Mxyzptlk in Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. You cant quite describe him and it makes your head hurt.

Well, thats really all I've come up with. I've really only been focusing on the EVIL Parallel Reality that I mentioned with Prime-Mate and Mega Mouse. Some interesting ideas I think. Still don't know how a device would work in order allow inter-reality travel.
