the imps were in with the republicans? I thought they supported Ron Paul!
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Well, that seems like a bit of an overexaggeration. Walker's actions have almost ensured that he will be a one term Governor, if he is not forced to vacate his office sooner. Democracy will continue on in Wisconsin. No need to panic.
Also, the Republican strategy might be in violation of the open meeting laws. If this is confirmed by a court, the law would be invalidated.
The hipocrisy of this debacle has been noted elsewhere, mainly by Jon Stewart, who noted that while teachers may not always do the best of jobs, they don't bend the country over and give it one until it bleeds.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen Fry^^^ I am not exactly happy about the situation either, but there is nothing we can really do. You could write a letter to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, requesting they investigate possible ethics and other abuses. However, I think that the Wisconsin Supreme Court has a conservative majority, which means the chances of a favorable ruling are unlikely.
Failing that, you could contact the US Supreme Court. I suspect that many already have. It is probably unlikely that they will hear the case, unless some crazy nonsense goes down during the General Strikes tomorrow.

I disliked the bill too, but I gotta admit: I was REALLY iffy about siding with the senators who just left the state. To me, that sounds like the system not functioning, and the "Well, all we want is for democracy to work by giving us time to debate it" sounds like poor rationalization.
At the very least, I thought that cutting their pay was totally justified.
April 5th election, state supreme court candidates will be running. Assistant Attorney General Joanne Kloppenburg (campaign site
) is running to unseat Justice David Prosser.
FYI: The race is technically non-partisan, but SSP
(scroll down to the bottom of the daily digest) and another source
both confirm that Prosser is a former Republican legislator—state House Majority Leader, even. According to said second source (the Wisconsin State Journal), Prosser is indeed part of the 4-justice majority conservative bloc, while Kloppenburg would vote differently.
Linhasxoc, do you know anything about the other two candidates, Marla Stephens and Joel Winnig?
Also, it would be quite awesome if Wisconsin's pavement had your shoeprints by April 5th.

I know everyone in the unions affected will be after his blood, that plus support from outside the state can probably keep the fire burning long enough.
