Just wondering... how to display 3d information with 2s displays. the conditions are- -Modern tech level (if it isn't practical, it's out)
-On a military ship so it needs to be rugged
-Not all displays need to be perfect. the helmsmens' displays need to give highly accurate information, while the main situation board needs only to give rough relative locations and displays
Also: what about navigational charts (paper ones) would they even be possible or would you need some kind of computer display. For reference, interstellar voyages are usually on the order of a few days) Thanks.

I don't always comment, but when I do, expect me to edit the crap outta it.

Well, even today, on computers and the like, 3d is easily rendered in 2-d, so it should not be a problem. Consult any recent video game and they still managed to get the 3d thing down pat on a flat surface without any real 3d effects

Also consult them for H.U.Ds and stuff. Shouldn’t really be an issue as far as I know.

Do you mean 3-d as in holograms or just 3d as in, I play some video game on my computer kind of 3d? Also these days they have organic led technology that allows you to display pictures on a clear surface if that was something that interested you.
