I'm sorry...
Re: post #473: Apparently, I can.
Hey.I actually really enjoy Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. It's fun, I like the idea of it, and she's clearly not taking herself too seriously.
The last thing you hear before an unstoppable juggernaut bisects you with a minigun.Fireflies, by Owl City. Yes, I know it's an overly happy meme song, but goddamn, I looooove that synth sound. it's also nice to see a pop song that's not about human relationships in any way.
, : Agree to both.
It seems Jared Dines got me hooked on this one Waking The Cadaver song. Maybe it's because I was into noise rock and sludge in the first place, but it does not seem as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. However, it's just this song by them I have listened to so far. A whole album of this would probably be boring.
Nonsense is better than no sense at all. This song:

It is absolutely awful. And that is why I like it.
Two Dan Hill songs, Never Thought (That I Could Love) and the infamously melodramatic Sometimes When We Touch.
They're so hilariously cheesy but sincere; I can't help but love them.
Special mention goes to this music video for the latter song, where he looks like a GEICO Caveman:

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation project"My Love", Petula Clark - Pure pop fluff, but it is so darn catchy.
"Making Love Out of Nothing at All", Air Supply - It must be the everything-including-the-kitchen-sink-and-a-few-more-appliances-thrown-in-for-good-measure Jim Steinman production that hooks me on to that song.
Lemon curry?Plus Rick Derringer plays the guitar solo on the Air Supply song.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectwhy you so crazy by the dandy warhols is an absolutely baffling, backwards-sounding album and i love every second of it. i wanna say space too but they're that rare band that you can get tons of ironic and unironic enjoyment out of.
"Non-Transfer" by Equipment. The entire song feels like it was written in one take with no revisions, but it adds a lot to the song. The sudden break in the lyrics and then "...you're probably making food" is so funny to me. I also love the line "I'm only reckless when I know you'll save me".
The things in my dreams wish they could chase me!The Waking The Cadaver nod somehow reminds me of a song I discovered through a Mark Prindle review - "Acid Orgy" by Goatlord. The riff is incredibly dopey but in a catchy way, and it almost seems like Stealth Parody of doom metal / death metal - especially because of the questionable decision to apparently record all of the drum fills last, and on a drum machine that blatantly clashes with the live drum track (which holds true for the entire album, but seems especially obviously here). A comment on the review even joked that it sounded like the band was using the musical toy "hit stix" for percussion.

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.Save a Horse and Absolute Territory, thanks to their Double Entendre Intercourse with You-esc lyrics. i know there are plenty of doing-the-deed songs out there, but good god these two specific songs make me feel a certain way
i've been working on a unified theory, if i make it through tonight - everybody's gonna hear me out!Biff Rose´s Fill your Heart
The song is sooooo bad, that was covered by Tiny Tim and even David Bowie himself!!!
But the song is optimistic (as far as the lyrics are understandable) and very upbeat, yes is a big guilty pleasure for me.
Yes, it’s cringy in a very thin-skinned way. Yeah, it’s repetitive and dreary as hell, and actually, I’m dreading the Taylor’s Version of this song in particular. But it just clicks with me with that catchy chorus and attitude. And I really like the Mythology Gag-ridden music video.
Been around the world, from Kyiv to Carolina.F.A.T.A.L. is the best role-playing game that there could be bam bam bam Listen enough times, the song grows on you like a tree bam bam bam

You know why.
Shinedown's first two albums. Yes I know they're buttrock, but they get me through middle school and hold a special place in my heart for that reason. (I still maintain that "Lady So Divine" is a truly good song and is not "buttrock.")

My guilty pleasures are different from most. I hate "fun" pop that's really sugary/cheesy/annoying, so my guilty pleasures are not under that. Some that come to mind.
- "She's Gone" by Steelheart. It's a super-cheesy Hair Metal power ballad, but the emotion of the song is incredible and actually sounds real, plus those vocals are insane! I'd love to be able to hit notes like that with such power.
- "Battle Angels" by Sanctuary. The vocals sound like Mickey Mouse on steroids, but I can't deny the brilliance of those heavy riffs.
- Lots of Queensryche, particularly "Walk In The Shadows" and a lot of stuff on Operation: Mindcrime is really cheesy and almost remind me of lame kid's movie closing music (Particularly Mindcrime's title track), but I still love them because of their great riffs, "epic" vibe that is well above your typical Def Leppard song, and the amazing vocals of Geoff Tate.
- "Get Got" by Death Grips. I really don't like rap music, but I like this song, that keyboard riff is sick!
- "As Long As It's Not About Love" by Dio is another cheesy love ballad, but it's lovely and Ronnie delivers one of his greatest vocals.
- In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel. Really strained vocals and often gross/weird lyrics, but the songs are all very emotional with great melodies and the strained vocals manage to work and add a tremendous amount of emotion.
