@Psyga Diamond In The Rough is also one of my favorite series in the Touhou fandom. I'm also kind of new, only 8 months in the fandom, but I can help with some points, if you'd like, but it suffices to say that very few youkai hate humans, it's just that the carnivore ones don't see humans different from any prey.
But it seems an interesting idea, I particularly liked your proposal of a character being the protagonist's surrogate mother, because most gappy stu fics go straight to romance and the gappy ends up looking more like a prop for the character.
This series also gave me an idea for a fanfic, but for a reconstruction. In which an outsider would be manipulated by an old rival of Yukari into going to Gensokyo and he would find something to be useful in there, while passing through the same things any gappy pass through.
Then he would unlock his power to use in Gensokyo, Just as Planned and be under the rival's mind control. The problem is that he would be powered by economic belief (everytime you buy something, the money has value because both the buyer and the seller believe that the product's worth can be expressed in monetary quantity; in Gensokyo, he could be capable of magically weaponize it), which would make him unstoppable. But in the middle of the battle, he manages to regain control of his mind, but not of his body, so he would be imploring the heroes to kill him.
Since he's being powered by billions of transactions in the entire world, there would be no way to cut his power, until Yukari has an idea: send Hina (she's a curse goddess, she has the ability to invoke bad luck) to the New York Stock Exchange to cause an economic crisis in order to weaken him and it works!
Then the Big Bad would reveal himself: he was a gappy that survived and accumulate so much hate from Gensokyo that he turned into a youkai and in his Motive Rant he would list every single fear that Gensokyo would invoke (the forums are ripe with it) in order to justify its destruction. And, to boot, he would manipulate the hypocrisy (that would be his power) in the outsider's heart in order to make him destroy Gensokyo.
I'd plan two endings: one in which he destroys Gensokyo and other in which he saves Gensokyo. In the happy ending, he decides to return to his world because he learned of how important he's in there, and Gensokyans understand his choice, except his love interest (because it's a reconstruction, it would be done theoretically right). Fast-forward to fifteen years, in which he suffers an accident and by a coincidence Yukari is there getting corpses to feed youkai she stumbles with him. Knowing that his time on the Outside World ended he accepts returning to Gensokyo where they're surprised to see him on it.
My work is here. Current main fic: Tengen Toppa Gurren SolverniaA Noir-themed Bubble Bobble fanfic with a murder, a dame and a bubble so clear you can barely tell it's there.
turns out it never really went missing in the first place. 5 people die for nothing.
Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night, with all Servants barring Rider being from Power Rangers.
....
Oh, wait, I'm already working on that fic. Nevermind....
I just started a fanfiction that's pretty trite and cliche. It's a Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town retelling with Darker and Edgier elements.
I was talking about the soon-to-be-released Pokémon Mystery Dungeon sequel with a friend when he pointed out that it contains almost entirely fifth-generation Pokemon, which was a deal-breaker to him since he enjoyed having such a wide variety of choices in previous games.
I briefly thought about this, considered my experience with the second PMD game and Rumble Blast, and started to weigh the pros and cons of heightened detail and cutting out the fat of largely similar generational equivalents against limiting the player's choice, especially in a series that promotes such favoritism.
And then it led to a fanfic idea, building upon the reality-warping and species-warping plot points common to the series.
A PMD fic set in a universe focusing on a single generation, in which the population wakes up to discover that everyone has changed into equivalents from a different generation, and their struggle to adapt and possibly find the cause. (A Charizard will find it hard to suddenly be a Typhlosion, for instance.) Bonus points if it happens more than once.
There's an idea I ditched here a while back that's come back on a larger scale.
A bunch of fictional characters and ALL of their existing AU counterparts come together to pull off one big sting. That means no less than 5 Sonics (Classic, Modern, Archie, Promotional Comic, Fleetway among others) and 11 Megamen (NES, SNES, X, Playstation X, Legends, .EXE, Cartoon, Anime, comic, Manga (if he had one), a few Zeros (considering how he was the original design for X)) to begin with, and the different Marios and Crash Bandicoots and Spyroes and everything.
Each team would need a 15,000 word introduction at the very most (There are a lot of portals and stuff to explain for the larger gaming clans), then a huge chapter outlining the plan, then all the strike teams consisting of the same characters doing their parts... This could easily end up over a milion words long, depending on the character dynamics and interaction, how many parts of the plan there are, how many things go wrong... And then there's the backup teams for when something does inexplicably go wrong, consisting of the Jaks and Daxters and the Ratchets and Clanks as a single strikeforce dedicated to combat and retrieval of captured squads.
Seeing this done would be a dream come true, but the project's too damn big and I hate my own writing style. On top of that, the plan would have to follow something plausibly threatening, something intent on wiping out the game multiverse... I dunno, magnets? The god of lightning?
I have a few ideas for some Wreck-It Ralph OCs that play with the idea of sentient arcade games.
-A rare cabinet that was passed from arcade to arcade until the arcade crash of the 2000's, and it's characters now have to adjust to his new permanent home at Litwak's.
-A Hulk Hogan-esque wrestler from an older game, who was, at the time of the game's creation, the top babyface in the wrestling world, but as time progresses and his real-life equivalent has been shown to be a selfish prick, can't understand why nobody picks him anymore.
-Some Mortal Kombat knockoffs like the cyborg in Ralph's villain group, and how they see being ripped apart and decapitated on a daily basis. Maybe they'd also talk about the Senate hearings on violent games from their POV.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatDayOfTheBarneyTrilogy, but the protagonists are replaced with random fictional characters. Also they start out thinking it's a zombie apocalypse. I'll call it "Day of the Insanity".

Crossover between Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue and Tomica Hero Rescue Force/Rescue Fire. It just fits too damn well...
Another one:
50 years after Friends of Mineral Town, Jack has married Elli and has worked to turn Mineral Town into a farming and mining hotspot. Soon, all the beautiful foliage is torn away and replaced by blank fields, tilled day and night by generations of workers, children and old men alike. The reader is plunged into the shoes of a group of 4 who all co-run a farm in "Mineral Town", in actuality a stretch of land a day and a half away from Mineral Town. The goal is to go on adventures and build up enough money and fame to go to the original Mineral Town and become permanent residents there.
What's unusual is that I'm writing the scenario as a tabletop RPG. It's gonna have a system and everything.

What is Ano Hana?

Hrm... might have some promise.
New thought: Since they seem to have a few similar themes (Hot-Blooded aside), a crossover of Tomica Hero Rescue Force and Gao Gai Gar. Especially since in Rescue Force, they need authorization from the commander to use a Final Rescue due to how powerful they are.
Dragonzord vs Godzilla?
Sweet. The D-zord has my favorite Zord design. In fact, the Megazord(and whatever it was called in the original version) is one of my favorite Zord designs period, and this is a man who loves his giant robots.
One Strip! One Strip!Best Megazords are the Mighty Morphin' original and Thundersaurus Megazord.
The pirate Megazord from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's kinda cool too, though.

I went into a 10MinuteRetirement thing with my current fanfic, but my beta/fan has given me a bit of a kick in the ass so I might complete it yet.
It's the Avatar one, with all the hidden angst and stuff. I got sick of the way I was writing it down.
