So, again, we need to figure out gender and age roles here, what are they? Are they matriarchal, patriarchal, gender equal? At what (human equivalent) age are the young sent off, where do they stay before hand?
I'm thinking they're probably still patriarchal but not entirely misogynistic. Can females be monks?
Revive thread, revive!
So uh, we were discussing gender roles were we? So we have one suggestion of being fully functioning (?) hermaphrodites, this would lead to the question how do they decide who carries the offspring? Is this looked down upon or a great honour?
Also, it just occurred to me our magical radiation would affect these guys, how does that figure in?
Well it could be an adaptation to living in a potentially dangerous environment. I mean, if we have giant predatory birds, whose not to say other megafauna aren't there.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.![]()

Yeah, I think the only natural hermaphrodites on earth are worms and the like.
Unfortunatly, I'm not an ecologist, and my genetics is pretty rusty ^^;
Maybe its something to do with the magic-radiation in the system, altering their genetic material's mutation rates.

So wait, how long has our Bird-race been attacking the W-somethings? Because if it's been a long time it makes absolutely no sense for the W's to be pacifistic. Even if they have an alien way of looking at something environment shapes culture, coastal cultures worship the sea, southern cultures the sun and people who are constantly in danger become militaristic, it's a reaction to ones state of being.
Just some Fridge Logic I encountered going back over discussion.

Hmmm... Like a cat's?
There are too many toasters in my chimney!
