Nah, American is the most glorious language in all of the world, son! It's the shinin' glory of the world and is the shinin' hill on top of the... eh...

Oh, god, please give me back English!

Oh, and this post has just proven that a Southern accent is completely different from the Texan accent. I may be from the south, but I do not sound like John fucking Wayne!

To be honest, the southern accent, especially the North Carolinian version, is actually quite feminine. Here's John Edwards, an infamous politician from North Carolina.

I personally like the southern accent. Though, also a case of being honest, it's quite different from the rest of the south.

Speaking of which, southerners are not all conservative. Even though John Edwards is as toxic as Nixon, he was one of the most left-wing politicians in the country when he held office.

[up] Well, I already knew the difference between a Texas accent and an Atlanta accent at least...

What does John Edwards accent sound like to you as an Australian?

Speaking of Australia, I used to think that I couldn't tell the difference between an Australian accent and a New Zealand accent. I still can't on the television, but there's a guy in one of my classes that is from New Zealand. I at first thought he was Australian but then I heard him speak more, and I eventually came to the conclusion of: "What the fuck, this guy can't be Australian."

Spent the next day trying to figure it out until he mentioned he was from New Zealand.

Eh, can you tell the difference between a Canadian and an American? The generic accent, of course. Pointing out the difference of Quebec and Texas doesn't count. :P

After working out that Edwards is definitely from the southern States but definitely not from Texas or the Deep South, I automatically assume he is from Georgia. And I bet you're going to tell me he isn't.

And I'm pretty sure I can tell American and Canadian accents apart, but it's probably not as easy for me as I think it is.

He isn't, he's from North Carolina.

This guy is a senator from Georgia.

Excuse the ending.... x.x

As someone from N.C., I consider Georgia to be the deep south, except for Atlanta. Because Atlanta is fucking massive.

Odd, I can stand a man having a deep southern accent and find it rather interesting and I like it. When I hear a woman who has it and she speaks, it's like my ears are melting.

Back to seriousness.

I'm trying to train myself to be an actor, and I personally think that of all the American accents the Southern ones are generally easier to impersonate.

Deep-south? Yeah, I'd agree with you.

Once you get to Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, then it might be very hard. Or at least, that's what I'm thinking, since the twang is much more subtle. I read somewhere that this accent is the closest to what British people from the 18th century sounded like.

Which accent do like to impersonate the most?

By the way, Compla, have you ever watched Doctor Who? Do you know about the Doctor's cloned daughter Jenny, and how she came back to life even though the Doctor and Martha both thought she couldn't?

I don't have cable so I don't get BBC, but I catch it from time to time on PBS. Not religiously, though, but I do like it. I don't remember that spoiler, though. :X

Then you should probably ignore this if you don't want The Doctor's Daughter to be hugely spoiled for you.

Since "Jenny" is a Time Lady (or at least partially such) and can therefore has the species' awesome healing powers, I'm wondering what form she might take if she is fatally wounded and has to regenerate...

I find your lack of Americaness/Canadianess extremely appealing to me right now. I want to ask you questions. ANSWER.

  • Are American/Canadian pop stars in general considered extremely androgynous and rather odd by your generic Australian? (In contrast, Australian pop stars are seen as the epitome of manliness to an absurd level in the US. Australians in general are seen as absurdly manly.)
  • How many crocodiles have you wrestled? You're Australian, I know you have wrestled at least twenty three. And possibly strangled two or three kangaroos. =P
  • What are the main business markets in your city? (My city's, Raleigh, main business market is health research, and banking.)

Interview over. =P

Hmm, do you like Babylon 5 or Deep Space 9 by any chance?
