Doing The Research for historically-accurate worldbuilding: Need Help

So that there is no confusion about what I'm asking for help with, this is research for a fanfiction. A fanfiction that I want to be as historically accurate (with exceptions to the demons, monsters, and magic, since this is for Inuyasha) as possible. Yes, I am aware that this sounds crazy/stupid/impossible/whatever. It doesn't matter.

There's one aspect of this that's really been bugging me, and any help you have is appreciated. Does anyone know of any online college textbooks or essays exploring either sexual relationships between the classes in Japan (my main character is a Good Bad Girl...sort of, who is a sex-worker because she is greedy and thinks it will make her a lot of money [wrong].) or female sexuality/lesbianism in medieval Japan.

Even if all you can do is point me in the general direction of something, I'll {{[[Understatement}} really appreciate it]]. This is part of my worldbuilding (since getting this right is a big part of my plot, or at least a Dark Secret for the protagonist later in her life.

Thank you so much for anything you can give me!

Wikipedia's article is full of "Citation Needed" and totally ignores lesbianism, however, this article they're trying to merge it with has one paragraph on the 15th century change in women's status allowing for greater sexual freedom (or something). Basically, there was no real stigma against same-sex relationships as long as it didn't get in the way of producing an heir. Male homosexuality (particularly Man-on-Boy and among Buddhist Pedophile Priest s) seems to be the most popular and best recorded form, by I have seen some Girl-on-Girl Ukiyo-e paintings, so there were clearly some Yuri Fanboy s back in the day.

This article on dancing prostitutes seems more like what you're looking for, and this and this have some interesting facts on class identity.

I'm also interested in this, as I have a Jidaigeki setting I'm working on, too, but for the record I think Inu Yasha and historical accuracy don't really go together (Not to dissuade you, just saying you may have your work cut out for you). Do they ever give a date for when the show takes place? It always struck me as more of a Purely Aesthetic Era.
