Yes, large dinosaurs could trample crops. I really wish I'd mentioned something about putting a fence around the.
I do see the issue with the wall not keeping out smaller predators (DIG A FUCKING DITCH!) but after seven years living here I'm willing to bet that if smaller predators were a serious issue then they'd have done something about it.

Well, my only gripe is that the main characters are very unlikable. The best is probably the nerdy daughter, and she's an annoying Lisa Simpson-type. Taylor is cool though, they should have him be the focal character.
They should have a cell phone/radio equivalent at all times, because it should be natural to do that instead of having to run off and fetch a doctor and any number of a dozen other things people use their cell phones for. I don't think it's unreasonable to send people to a new location with some method of individually man portable wireless communication device. It actually seems like one of the top five things you'd have them bring. Leave the family photos and the personal effects, take the fucking communicator.
Unless it so happens that we'll have an episode where smaller predators get in and that's the Aesop. I don't mind them setting up something up, I have a problem with setting it up in a way that requires people being dumb for a long time and then when the stars get there is when everything goes to shit just so we can see the stars fix it all. Digging a ditch and then turning the dirt into a wall would be the best solution, but would prevent easy passage in and out at any point for characters getting up to mischief.
Fight smart, not fair.Okay, it was a lot bigger than I remembered for some reason. At the entrance by the road, we've got the main house and main gateway. At the back they have big honkin' wind turbines (which annoys me somewhat, they got the turbines through the portal but couldn't move better wall construction material? Carbon fiber or plastic isn't something you whip up out of dirt.) and enough that they could have more than enough to power some equipment (assuming they have enough batteries to load level properly). The farmland all appears to be developed, however one pizza slice doesn't look to be growing right, it's most likely a section that is about to be planted.
If the entrance is 6, the little girl said hello to the long neck herbivores at 9, which gives an approximation of their house location. I still dislike the suburbia design of their houses, too much wasted space for a group that's supposed to be putting effort into survival. Even assuming you want a single story, spread out houses for some reason, they're far too spacious if the families are supposed to be working all day.
The turbines have some kind of small squat structures near them. Most likely factories or possibly some sort of water purification center (what with being next to the lake and all). Probably textiles.

Fight smart, not fair.I saw a large portion of the two-part episode of Terra Nova, and I think this is going to be interesting. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only who thought Jurassic Park upon seeing this show. Well, at least the humans in this show have weapons to ward off these dinosaurs.
I'm curious to see what direction the show will go in. Let's see, Taylor's son is apparently alive and hiding somewhere. That brings up the question of why he hasn't shown his face. I wonder what the Sixers are trying to accomplish. I could tell that there is some history between Mira and Taylor. I was a little surprised that the show did a rather obvious Black Dude Dies First when the black Sixer got sliced by a slashtail.
Say, did you know that "Terra Nova" translates to "New Earth"?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Yes, please ignore the use of sarcasm mode in the future, as it's quite over used.

"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Depends on how we want to define self sufficiency. If you really wanted to, I bet you could build a 3D/circuit printer that can process raw sand and heavy metals to turn into integrated circuits. Not that they should have to build that many mind you, they should be carrying high durability units through the gates.
I have less a problem with windmills in general, and more of a problem with the fact that they used modern style power generating windmills. An old school pump windmill that is hooked up to a water tower that drains through a turbine would make a lot more sense to me. Or failing that, an actual mill. I think they mentioned having to start a water turbine in the lake/waterfall/somewhere.
Fight smart, not fair.Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait.
No.
There are people who actually like this show? Please tell me this is an ironic hipster thing. I was going to post a play-by-play of everything that went wrong in the 30 minutes that I saw of a two hour episode, but I just have to know, what redeeming qualities does Terra Nova have?
It looks fun. Just because there's issues, doesn't mean it's something irredeemably horrible like Shakespeare or the X Movie series.
Fight smart, not fair. That's the second time in ten minutes you've mentioned Catachan.
To be honest, a Survivor series set in Warhammer 40k would be hilarious.
Survivor: Immaterium
Survivor: Armageddon
Survivor: Forge World
Survivor: Catachan
Survivor: Cadian Gate During The Black Crusade
Survivor: Commorragh
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."
The main family is slowly picked off in front of Taylor, culminating in a Roaring Rampage of Revenge for him.
(Please?)
Those would be pretty short series.
Just saw the pilot. Overall, not the greatest piece of television, but I actually watched it, which is rare. Some good potential for growth.
I like the ideas about the Sixers, though I already had my own theory: there's some sinister motive behind Terra Nova that Taylor may or may not know about, and the Sixers manipulated the lotteries in order to go back and stop it.
And I was VERY disappointed to find out the stone drawings weren't made by aliens.
Also, anyone else notice that the kids get progressively more ethnic the younger they are?
It's not over. Not yet.

So, are they restarting civilization or what?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
