More like checking in, actually. I guess I'll see you around.

A particular shortcake fixed her hair under the moon and streetlights, busy as always. She'd figured out that sleeping was the easiest way to return to her body when she transformed and in all fairness... that had wreaked havoc on her already abysmal sleeping schedule.
For once she didn't feel like training.
The streets were quiet at this time of night. No one would make fun of her for talking to her pokemon. "...Do you think I'll make it this time?" she asked in an anxious tone, seemingly to no one in particular.
"...Y'know I don't do good with this whole... comforting a teenage girl thing." Shu replied after a moment rather hesitantly.
"Yeah but... do you?" Valorie pressed.

The shortcake just sort of snapped her attention to a Pent entering the immediate area. She held her tongue as Shu ignored this and kept speaking.
"Well you've never let doubt stop you from trying before, so just... Give it your best, alright?" Shu said somewhat awkwardly.
Valorie offered Pent a friendly wave. The shortcake was looking nice and carefully primped for the... evening.

Valorie curtsied for Pent. The gesture seemed to amuse herself. "Hey Pent... Glad I'm not a dratini for once." she admitted in an ever so slightly awkward tone. "I'm thinking about challenging Ramos tomorrow, and lots of other stuff." she added casually.

Valorie returned that smile, peering up at Pent. "Yeah... That dang transformation has been getting in my way the last few times. I had trainers throw pokeballs at me!" she half-joked.

Valorie blushed, ever so slightly, and turned her head away. The idea seemed to fluster her. "Yeah..." she remarked in a lackluster tone.
Valorie giggled nervously "I-I mean, that'd be absurd right..? A human owning another human?" she added. It was clear she felt a great deal of anxiety over this.

Valorie seemed to calm down at Pent's reassurance, nodding in approval to herself. "Yeah... There's gotta be a law against that sort of thing." she added dismissively.
"Anyways... I couldn't sleep I was... thinking."

Valorie pursed her lips. "...Yeah, I know what you mean... I don't—" she started, stopping rather abruptly. Homesickness had just punched her in the gut with enough force to knock the breath out of her. Valorie was suddenly very, very aware of missing her mother.
Oh.

Valorie was dragged back into reality by Pent's voice. She offered him a smile without a trace of heart that quickly died off. "Yeah—I just... remembered something." she assured him, a frustrated tone to her voice.
Where had that sudden burst of emotion come from? Valorie considered it for a moment. It was because she hadn't been truly open with someone in some time.
D-Damnit, Charizard...
"I should go. My exhaustion is getting to me." she added in a somewhat depressed tone. She was lying. The reality was... she just couldn't trust Pent with the truth.
She couldn't trust anyone with the truth.

Frustration filled the tiny girl's expression. "...Are you sure you're okay?" she asked suspiciously. In reality, she wanted nothing more than to run off and call her Mom to tell her all about the amazing things she'd been experiencing! She never wanted to feel such severe homesickness again. Another part of her, however, knew that she could make the call at any time.

Cleo: It's late. Shouldn't you be heading back to the hotel for the night?
