Shalour City
"Some days are just slow I suppose." said Sakura, smiling
"<But it's so booooring.>" said Teishi, sighing again.
"Well, yes, I had the misfortune of meeting your brother." said Lyuri, half-joking
"We happen to have a Cain among us, in fact, he's my other student. Do you know him? His name is... Lucius. We call him 'Herbert' though." said Duke.

-Lucille raises an eyebrow.-
Lucille: Oh, him? Yeah, I've bumped into him. Me and Leo put him up for a while a few days back. Didn't realise you two knew him so well.
-Leonard gives a nod as Crow departs, then sends out Dragalge and Aromatisse in order to get some training done.-

Reflection Cave, past
Well, me and the others and our mons are still around.
Aya: -To Kiara- <Cool, huh?>

-Crewe takes a deep breath, looking up at the miniature mountain dominating the Gym. She glances at Clockwise-
… If I fall, you better catch me.
Clockwise: <Okey dokes, silly!>
-he cocks his head
Clockwise: <Y'know I can fly, right, silly?>
Yeah, yeah, but I wanna do this right, okay?
Clockwise: <Okay, silly!>
Good boy.
-Crewe takes another deep breath and starts climbing. Clockwise slowly circles below her, ready to catch her if she falls-

-after a good while spent climbing the walls, Crewe reaches the top of the miniature mountain. Clockwise lands beside her-
Grant: Welcome, challenger! Did you enjoy climbing the walls?
… Well, it was certainly an exercise in determination.
Grant: Wonderful! I assume you're here for my Badge?
That'd be it, yep.
Grant: Do you need a minute to catch your breath? I have a feeling you'll be the last challenger I get today, so I have time.
-Crewe straightens up, jerking her head at Clockwise, who flutters forward onto the battlefield-
Ready when you are.
-Grant laughs, exhilarated-
Grant: A Noctowl! You've got guts, kid!
You know it. You gonna send out a mon or not? Not some wimpy barely-trained mon, either.
Grant: Such confidence! I have a feeling this battle will be entertaining. Well, if you're ready—Go, Aurorus!

-Lucille's expression suggests that she knows she's missing out on some major context but doesn't deem the matter worth prying into.-
Lucille: ...If you say so, I guess. In case you hadn't already noticed, holding long and pointless grudges over trivial matters is kind of a family tradition.

-he sends out an Aurorus, who looks down at Clockwise-
Aurorus: <… You must be a Zoroark.>
Clockwise, aloft! Use Light Screen!
-Clockwise hoots and leaps into the air, a glowing Light Screen barrier springing into being. Almost unconsciously, he molds it into the coat of armor he wore at the exhibition-
Grant: Flashy. Aurorus, use Ice Beam!
Aurorus: <Hey, Zoroark can't fly!>
-the Aurorus rears back and fires a beam of ice at Clockwise-
Dodge!
-Clockwise rapidly pulls up, flipping over. The Ice Beam grazes past his tail feathers. He wobbles in mid-air for a few seconds before shaking it off-
Grant: That's a quick bird. I'll just have to cover a wider area! Aurorus, Ancient Power!
Double Team!
-Clockwise hoots and splits into several copies. The Aurorus levitates several rocks and flings them at several copies. Most dodge by a hair, though one copy is hit and bursts into smoke-
Aha! We trained for weeks to be able to do that! Double Team again!
Grant: I can appreciate hard work, but you'll need more than fancy flying to beat my Aurorus. Ancient Power again!
Aurorus: <No upstart bird can beat me!>
-she roars as she sends another series of rocks flying at a random set of Clockwises as each copy splits again. It takes out another two copies, with the other Clockwise dropping like a stone to avoid the attack and struggling to pull up before hitting the ground-
Victory! Honor! Destiny! Mutton!

Candace: <...>
-Candace sits down again.-
Candace: <I hadn't thought about that.>
-Eos waves at Jacob as he wanders off.-
