Dr. Clavis as Katsuragi stared at what just transpired. He made the predictable response.
Katsuragi: Witchcraft. I'd summon my own powers, but it's unbecoming of a new Daimyo to sully his own fingers when it's unnecessary. Certainly wouldn't be what the Ghost Lord himself would do.
He claps his hands.
Katsuragi: My sorcerer and his lackeys will deal with you two. Ashigaru, fall back.
Katsuragi was no fool. He knew what Obscurics could do to his precious power source. It must not fall into their hands.
Meanwhile, the nerdy museum guide presented Gale with rather good smelling green tea, served in antique porcelains that belonged to the Ghost Lord himself. The Janitors, meanwhile, arrived with a richly ornamented kimono, an intricate replica of the one that belonged to the Ghost Lord's wife Duolis.
Guide: Your highness, the tea, served in your father's favourite porcelains.
Katsuragi: Whoa, my lady speaks. Ashigaru, stand your ground. These are apparently guests of the Lady of Spectra.
Guide: Even the kids?
Katsuragi: Well, are they, my Lady?

Me: So, it's here of all places... I had been wondering...
-Ian starts feeling around his body, checking to see where his locket went.-
Me: Where? Where is it? Where did it go?
Evelyn: Huh? Ian, are you missing something?
Me: Yeah! The PSI-Stone locket! IT'S GONE!
Evelyn: -shocked- THE PSI-STONE LOCKET IS GONE?!
Me: Yes! One minute, I had it, the next, it's not there!
Evelyn: What could possibly have caused it to disappear?
Me: Let's see...
-Ian thinks on what could have made the PSI-Stone locket disappear, and the first thing he could think of was when he kicked Salem, who swiped at him.-
Me: THAT'S RIGHT!!! Salem must've swiped the PSI-Stone locket when I kicked him that time!
Evelyn: Uh oh... A gem with that sort of power in the hands of a Pokémon Hunter... If I looked into my crystal ball now, I'd say this is gonna suck...
Me: Especially when you consider what day is coming up soon...
Me: Well, we better retrieve it before any real harm is caused...
-Ian and Evelyn head in to the museum, where they meet up with Cady, Gale and the mysterious person.-
Evelyn: Ms. Knight?
Evelyn and I: Is that you?
-Salem, Marion and Croaku felt the light of the lantern he created overpowering their wills. Their eyes glazed over, and their eyelids fell to a half-opened state. It was clear what they must do, who they must obey and how much obedience they must show.-
Salem and Marion: -in a hypnotized voice- <Hail the Ghost Lord! Hail Mitama!
Croaku: -in a hypnotized voice- <Hail the Origami King!>
Croaku: <Wait... wrong plotline. Let me try that again...>
-Croaku clears his throat, coughing up a toxic puddle on the floor in front of him.-
Croaku: -in a hypnotized voice- <Hail the Ghost Lord! Hail Mitama! And I will clean that up later...>

-Gale took a sip of tea and cleared her throat-
While they are not effective as bodyguards, I have made a fair number of friends that I keep within my inner circle. A great deal has changed since the rebellion chased my sire from his homelands...
-She sets the tea aside and lets out this performative sigh of sadness-
However, I did not expect such a reception in this place. Dare I ask what has led to my sire's forces occupying a room of looted treasures?
Recognizing an uneasy truce had been reached, Unovan and Kantonian looked at each other, their elements fading from their influence.
"Should we do something?"
"If I can pass myself off as Gale's lover I can probably stay untouched by virtue of diplomacy. You've got that Mind of Crystal, don't you?"
Unsteadily, Kamui approached, removing her jacket and attempting to look as presentable as possible given the audience.
Dr. Clavis as Katsuragi: Excellent, Servants of Spectra. But get yourselves dressed more appropriately. Barbarian is a poor look on all of you.
He commanded the grunts, guards, and staff to wear more appropriate clothing, which required raiding the museum's collection of replica kimonos.
Katsuragi: My lady, the samurai of the Katsuragi clan have sworn their allegiance to the Ghost Lord of Mitama for an eternity. I served your venerable forefather til the day of my death. And after besting Giratina in three rounds of Shōgi and one rather heated round of Go, I earned my right to continue serving my everliving master as a yamask. By then, several centuries have passed, and the treasures that once graced your father's inner sanctum had long since been kept as spoils by these barbarous pretenders.
The runerigus waves a burning Galarian flag.
Katsuragi: So for years, I have remained in this castle of plunder, which the avaricious Galarians filled with more treasures they stole not only from our fair Ransei but from regions across the globe. They called themselves civilizers and conquerors, but they are naught but unenlightened thieves. I took great pleasure in vexing them each night.
He points to another map of 19th Century Earth, showing the maximum borders of the Second Galarian Empire.
Katsuragi: It was until these bandits came in that I finally received the power to take back what belonged to your father. This immense magic let me evolve to my present form and take control of this pathetic vessel. His knowledge of language and the histories of his culture and ours make him the ideal host. It was in fact his own memories that led me to find you, Highness.
He then moves to a map of the world.
Katsuragi: The power of the bandit's talisman shall be the key to achieving our grand design. Worry not, my Lady, for your days of barbarian poverty are about to end. These treasures are yours, and once my plans come to fruition, so will this land and its treasures, for you and your intended to share.

-Evelyn gasps in horror.-
Evelyn: Is... is this true?
Me: Also, what magic talisman do you mean, Suzaku-san?
-It was taking a fair bit of willpower for Gale to not mutter 'hell yeah' or something similar to this ghost's righteous rant about imperialism and the role the museum had in it but then Katsuragi got to the part about conquering the Region and that's where maybe things had to pivot into actually controlling the situation-
Hm. I see. I believe I and my retinue would like to examine the artifact that you are alluding to. I am... Intrigued as to its properties.
Corrin: <Don't talk to me about fate—>
-The Rising Voltage interrupts, and Corrin has never been more thankful to be (1) a dragon, and (2) not a water-aligned one, than this very moment.-
-It does still send her sprawling back, because big electric shocks have a way of making your synapses hit every eject button they have. It doesn't completely take her out, though, and she rushes back into the fray.-
Corrin: <Okay, okay, weak point's open. I think? I think.>
Mason: Now would be the time to dragon stuff!
Corrin: <Dragon stuff!>
-Her claws burn brightly with magical flame, and she leaps up to slash at the exposed... dragon half??? five-sixths body mass??? of Stein.-
Kai: R-right, yeah.
-She digs out her phone, and y'know honestly the specifics of where they go for what food probably isn't important, it's just a setpiece-
Kamui and Colton remained as casual as they could pass off, pits in their chests simultaneously forming. Whatever was doing this was likely fully capitalizing on the advantage this truce provided. And there was nothing either of them could really do without earning that Ghost Lord's wrath. They didn't care how invincible they felt with all their powers and crap; they don't wanna test the limits!
The runerigus narrows his eyebrows and glowers at Ian.
Katsuragi: It's Katsuragi-sama! Your highness, a thousand pardons, but do teach your servant boy some manners. As for your request, it shall be granted. Though certainly while not in those rags. Ashigaru! Prepare the Kimonos. And Sorcerer! Guard your handiwork.
The tone of his voice made it clear that he was summoning Salem. The grunts, meanwhile, left, only to return with Kimonos.
Katsuragi: It simply will not do to see such a precious artifact in barbarian clothing.
Edited by MasterJayAM on Apr 3rd 2021 at 1:04:55 AM
A bit of an idea crossing his mind, Colton let darkness envelop him, only for it to take on the form of a kimono as best it could fit him. His jacket remained tied around his waist in a compromise of modern and traditional, not that it would be noticed under the monochrome palette he tied so closely to his identity.
"Shitsurei shimashita, Katsuragi-sama. Kore made ni, ware wa Katsuragi-sama no you no hito o kaiwa oshimasen deshita.note Apologies, Katsuragi-sama. We have not spoken with people like you before." Colton apologized, rushing to Ian's defense.
Gale, meanwhile, would have heard a simple phrase, an illusory projection from Colton only he could hear.
Just say when.

-Food happening now, Gale's trying to calm down the rush and avoid bringing up certain topics-
-Gale is presumably already dressed in that kimono provided earlier because she's leaning so hard into playing along with this little heiress gig until she has a chance to strike and disassemble it in a single strike-
Ah yes, you'll find my retinue has a lot of magical potential. As do I, of course. My bloodline does tend to find its way into such... Sorceries.
Salem: -in a hypnotized voice- Yes, Master.
-Salem stands guard over the Amplifier.-
Me: -thinks to self- Who is he calling "servant boy"?
Evelyn: -telepathically to Ian- ~I think he means you.~
Me: -telepathically to Evelyn- ~And whose servant does he think I am?~
Evelyn: -telepathically to Ian- ~Apparently, Ms. Knight's.~
-Ian facepalms. He is clearly not helping his case with these mental questions...-
Evelyn: Atashi no tomodachi no shitsurei shite kudasai, Katsuragi-sama. Kare wa kangaeru mae ni hanasu keikō ga arimasu.note Please excuse my friend, Katsuragi-sama. He tends to speak before thinking.
Me: Wh-What does that mea-
-Evelyn quickly shushes Ian.-
Evelyn: -telepathically to Ian- ~Do you WANT to end up like that guy?~
-Evelyn points to the hypnotized Salem.-
Me: -telepathically to Evelyn- ~Wait... what happened to that guy?~
Evelyn: -telepathically to Ian- ~Not entirely sure, but the way he took orders from Katsuragi-sama, you'd think he's been hypnotized or something...~
Me: -telepathically to Evelyn- ~Yikes...~
-It is definitely helping Kai relax a bit, at least. She's definitely a lot less on-edge now.-
-She does seem to be struggling to break uncomfortable silence without bringing up the Thing They Are Trying To Lay Low About, though.-
Kai: ...So, uh, that shadowporting thing was... an experience. It felt a lot different from, like, regular teleporting. How'd you learn to do that?
The runerigus' eye gave an approving expression at their use of his indigenous tongue.
Katsuragi: Yurushite ageru. note I forgive you.
Once he sees them all dressed, he invites the retinue forward. The ashigaru stand guard, prepared to take them on with weapons and overwhelm them with their Pokémon. Katsuragi moves Dr. Clavis forward. He shows them the lantern, which he surreptitiously opens. The room is soon filled with a bright magenta glow.
And then the lantern closes. Suddenly, they can hear the faint, strained voices of a half-Ranseian Galarian man barking weakly at them. His eyes were their natural color; green.
Dr. Clavis: The lantern. Don't look at the lantern—
Katsuragi resumes control over the elderly man. Dr. Clavis' eyes once again glowed a sinister magenta.
Katsuragi: Silence, scholar.
He opens the lantern again, flooding the room with anomalous magenta energies.
Katsuragi: Of course, now that the Lady of Spectra is here, We Can Rule Together. We wouldn't want the Princess of Spectra to veer away from her forefather's roots, now, do we?
Whether there's an ulterior motive to this or not is remarkably unclear to anyone actually reading Katsuragi Suzaku's aura. The attentive would pick up the latter with the former being a convenient consequence. The centuries weren't kind to Suzaku at all. And frankly, neither was Giratina.
Edited by MasterJayAM on Apr 3rd 2021 at 1:04:37 AM
From somewhere unseen in the room, a pair of eyes looks at the lantern with interest, blinking away spots in his eyes, he mutters something to himself about the fruit not falling far from the tree. He looks at his illusory duplicate, fighting the urge to click his tongue in pride.
"Don't look at it!" Kamui barks in a panic, reflexively turning around and shielding her eyes with her elbow.
Edited by AbsentCoder on Apr 1st 2021 at 7:32:56 AM
-Ian and Evelyn, now dressed in kimono, quickly avert their gaze.-
Me: That light... it can't be...
Evelyn: Given our current circumstances, it can't be anything else!
Me: That lantern is powered by the PSI-Stone!
Evelyn: We can't risk looking into it, if we do, we'll become ashigaru as well!
Me: Piku-chan! Don't look into the lantern!
Piku-chan: -covering his eyes- <Way ahead of you, buddy!>
Steve: "We've looked everywhere! The Stormchaser, the 7741896752950 alternate timelines, that one bunker Team Umbra hid from us in that one year..."
Alphos: "What about that artist's studio over there?"
-Steve whips around. There is, in fact, an artist's studio, staffed by various Smeargle-
Steve: "...There then!"
-They barge inside. There, being tended to by various Smeargle, is The Muse, huunched over a drawing tablet connected to a laptop-
Alphos: "Muse! There you are! We need your help for a WAAPT April Fools joke!"
Muse: "...I can't."
Steve: "...Why not?"
Muse: Look AROUND YOU!
Steve and Alphos do so.-
-Drawings. Countless drawings as far as the eye can see-
Muse: -eye twitching- See THIS?! It's all I DO now! I can't STOP! Ahahahahaha! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It's kind of odd. I think it's an obscuric thing because a bunch of obscurics I know can also do it, but honestly for me it kind of just started out as... Instinct.
-Gale sets down her cutlery and leans back in her chair to recount the story-
Back in the early days, I used to wake up from my night's sleep and find that the rest of the Team had moved onto a new location without me. And whenever that happened I'd eventually go 'okay, where do I need to be?' and without quite realizing it I was where I needed to be. And then I started throwing my lot in with Nocturnal and earned her Key and it became easier, I could start going 'where do I want to be?' and I'd end up there. I had a brief stint where I kinda couldn't do the shadowporting thing because I lost the key but it turns out that I don't really needed it. After an instinctive shadowport back at Lycanrow I just... Started being able again.
-She smiles softly and hums-
It's such a rush being in one place one moment and another the next without any travel time.
-It was almost instinctual how quickly Gale turned-
-Okay, to clarify; When the purple light started up, a blindfold manifested in a flourish of inky mist across Gale's eyes-
Oh believe me, Katsuragi. I do rule, but unfortunately I believe I have to formally discharge you from duty for your treasonous attempt to assassinate my free will and those of my retinue.
-She smiles and tilts her head to the side as black flame just carefully overlays her kimono's patterns to more befit what she was planning on doing today. The sword on her back shudders and floats into her hands-
In the name of my great-grandfather Joseph Umbranox, I hereby order you to stand down and release those you have possessed or face the full force of the Ghost Scion and her companions. For the glory of Spectra.

-she is feeling kind of odd-
-her whole side's gone tingly, the warmth trapped between pressed bodies-
-and she's just kind of...looking at Daydre, expression soft-
Megan: ...Definitely the heat.
-it doesn't sound like it's the heat-
-there's not much that can be done at this point to disrupt the emotion-sensing circuits further—the Moonblast, Icy Wind, and Electro Ball just sort of...soar into the gaping rent in the armor's side, the former two searing super-effectively (the last less so)-
-the magical claws strike critically and true—the power draw from the city goes dark entirely-
-the fight momentarily draws still-
MAX!STEIN: -dial-up tone- <hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh>
-...before the armor's remaining conduits, the streetlights, the Aura—sing cherry red radiation-
-and the street starts to expand-
-one crackling, crust-crunching convulsion at a time, individual cobbles turn giant, painfully underfoot—together lifting Stein skyward, ton by ton-
Dr. Ironspine: -still buried, out of sight- <A-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!>
-...from a point somewhere beneath STEIN's bulk on the growing peak, an impact rings out-
-the electricity still clinging to the rising Terrain shudders, stills—and begins to crystallize, the change spreading down the mountain and—-
- —disintegrating the energy in a wave of force, cascading up and down the street with all the environment's aggregate energy run rampant-
Dr. Ironspine: -appearing- <Tell me what you really think, FOOLS!>
Logan: -rolling their eyes, readying their arm- Read my mind, why don't you.
Dr. Ironspine: -purr- <Oh, I know what you're thinking.>
-mind visibly racing- <Aren't you always trying to get me to see things from other people's point of view?>
Dr. Ironspine: -...looking out at the group- <...you still think you can beat me.>
-snarl- <You still think you can BEAT me?!> -that's not Goldvoice- -in defiance of proper battle etiquette everywhere, she flings herself back up at the nearest intact-ish armor segment for yet further action-
Logan: -launching the Line- We're long past the point when your scheme could be considered "foiled"—throwing good money after bad is unlike you, Doctor!
Dr. Ironspine: -prying off circuit covers- <I love the way you sound when you're desperate. Call me that again.>
-growing too distant to launch an attack from the ground—Logan flies; the mountain grows-
-Itonspine clambers around, seizing parts, siphoning essence—assembling something-
Logan: -circling faster- What aren't you telling me?
Dr. Ironspine: -tapping her head- <Pay attention, why don't you—I've got a lot on my mind, if you couldn't tell.>
-she clicks another layer of wiring into place—what began somewhat crossbow-like begins to grow, forming racks of channeling missiles and barrels far beyond what it should remotely be able to hold-
Dr. Ironspine: -to Daydre- <...you there. You seem confused!>
-another click—she briefly takes on the impossible speed of a Dynamax den-
Dr. Ironspine: -taking aim with the developing weapon, chortling- <Let me HELP you!!>
-an accelerated monologue—a packet containing Ironspine's scheme tries to download its way into Daydre's head-
-all of it, all at once—entirely unredacted-
-what everyone sees—STEIN's radiation picks up again-
Addie: -screaming- <DANGER!>
-rapidly approaching a peak, unless something is done-
-an identical prompt appears in front of everyone present:-

-Cady is momentarily surprised that Ian knows her name.-
Cady: I'm assuming there's a version of me from this universe and that's who you think I am, because I have no idea who you are.
-Kat is still weirded out by the giant Runerigus. They both put on the kimonos.-
Kat: Well, this is definitely a history lesson and a half. You look cute in a kimono.
-Kat winks at Cady.-
Cady: Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself.
-Then the lantern stuff happens. Both of them look away instinctively.-
Kat: Mind control gadget?
Cady: I'm assuming so. Looks like we can't just have a nice day at the museum after all.
Oliver: You should watch them, they're pretty good if you ignore the bad bits. Now the sequel trilogy on the other hand...
Ivy: So wait, why do you have human hands?
-Both Cady and Kat accept the join request.-
Kat: I wonder what this is for.

Katsuragi, both in his true form and his human puppet, glowered angrily at Gale's companions. Clearly, the Princess of Spectra would not order him to stand down and not conquer in her name. It was obviously their fault.
Katsuragi: You would dare turn the Lady of Spectra against me? For that you shall—
Suddenly, the old man's eyes turn once again a regular green. The samurai-armor clad gentleman politely hands Gale the Nodachi.
Dr. Clavis: Here, my lady. Have this. It belonged to your great grandfather.
And his eyes turn a bright magenta again.
Katsuragi: Insubordinate old fool! No matter, your usefulness to me has ended.
He lets go of his bonds over Dr. Clavis, who was visibly shaken yet still ultimately just annoyed by the experience.
The battle begins.

Hoops reaches for Evelyn's outstretched hand, and grasps it firmly. Then their face breaks into an evil grin and they yank Evelyn towards the ground, trying to get her to touch it and lose the game.
Hoops: Sorry, Evs, but this is your punishment for making me lose.
Denali smiled as the lights went out, and then came back, Kim was sitting by herself, a singular spotlight on the stage.
Denali leaned over, "You're doing well Kim! Tell me, how do you feel about your chances?" they asked holding the microphone close.
Tiedrich grunted, gripping at his bionic eye, the Nebula was difficult. Sensor equipment tended to short out here, even with all the shields on his personal cruiser it was still unpleasant...
His personal guard were suffering some issues as well, the several gallades in the Alakazam armor were paused, their sensory suites were also compromised.
The door hissed open and in stepped a hypno, <General Tiedrich, we have detected a jumpspace trail near the edge of the sector, however due to the nebula we will have to jump around it. We won't be able to hit the station at the edge, but we can return for it later an- Sir? Are you okay?>
Tiedrich blinked, he looked over at the Hypno, his right eye crackled a bit, he seemed lost and confused <Wh-Where am->
Another short and the Gallades and Tiedrich stood up straight, <Very well helmsman. Take the detour, this blasted ion storm is displeasing to my senses.>
The Hypno saluted and stepped out, knowing better to not ask about what he just saw.
The Defiant Wing exited Jump-Space and approached... a frankly massive station at the end. The logo of the Federation on it, numerous ships were moving around it. Stylus sat at the helm, talking with a Federation officer.
<Yeah, we have the prisoner contained. They replaced me and tried to essentially kill off my crew,> he explained.
<Sounds rough, how were they handled?> The federation agent, an Beheeyem of all things, asked.
<My wife managed to destabilize it enough to get it storaged in a vacuum sealed container,> Stylus explained.
<Ah. Well dock at Port 15 and we'll get a security team to receive the prisoner, we've actually been looking for this one for awhile.>
<Thanks,> Stylus said before ending the call, he sighed and pulled off his scarf, "Bishop you have the conn."
Silas stepped into the Galley section of the Wing's lounge area, He looked at the crew before him, he brushed his hair with his left hand and looked over everyone.
"We'll be docking soon, a security team will taking our special guest off our hands after that," Silas explained, "We'll get a bounty for him thankfully. That should cover the last of the repairs, as well as a few upgrades to the ship systems."
Roxy nodded, "Not easy out here, but we're making good progress."
"Gale and I are pretty unstoppable in boarding," Arthur added, "Something on your mind?"
"Well other than a bit of shore leave to let everyone stretch their legs. We need to discuss the Black Box," Silas said, "Bishop and I have been looking over it... and I see the way Gale looks at it."
Roxy was a little worried...
"Bishop, if you could please."
The lights dimmed and a holographic projection kicked up of the Flagship, it was unlike any of the cruisers they had seen reported, Marauder spoke, <It is rather unusual.>
"That's just it, I've looked over the design and this thing is a cruiser killer, it's fast and maneuverable, it boasts 4 very powerful weapons, and the design is so internally modular that it seems capable of swapping parts and systems on the fly," Silas explained.
Roxy frowned, "And we might have to fight it, won't we?"
Silas nodded, "Which is why we need to hold a serious discussion about this. Do we continue on our current path as couriers, or do we start dedicating more time to prepping ourselves to face this thing?"
Kim: "Pretty good, I must say. Now... bring on the next Pokemon. I can barely wait any longer for this."
(From up in the tree, Kim and Elton are smirking to themselves.)
Kim: "I don't think they have any idea where we are...!"
Elton: <Me either...!>
