Hoops: Kec, counter that with Iron Tail!

Kec twists in the air as he takes on his silvery-grey form, and swings his tail to meet Hatty's Brutal Swing in mid-air.

At the same time, Hoops raises their arms to block Evelyn's attack and throw her backwards.

Glimwood Tangle

-Evelyn is thrown backwards by Hoops, bends her knees and does a backward somersault. She then pushes off against the air, giving her extra height so she can land on another branch.-

Evelyn: Now, Hatty! Use Mystical Fire!

-Hatty surrounds herself in a crimson aura and she spits out a stream of arcane fire at the now-Steel-type Kec.-

Lumiose City

Me: Is Megavonne a big store?

Evelyn: With the size of this city, I wouldn't be surprised...

Hammerlocke

Evelyn: I see... How are you handling this revelation about yourself?

Glimwood Tangle

(Eventually though, Kim and Elton come to rest at the top of a particularly tall tree, watching the fight from above.)

Kim: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Glimwood Tangle Battle Royale Extraordinaire, starring our competitors Hoops and Evelyn... and their Pokemon Kec and Hatty..."

Lumiose City

Kim: "I imagine it would be as well."

Hammerlocke

Kim: "Pretty good, actually. Ian had a revelation, too."

Roxy grumbled, "If it was up to me he'd be spaced."

Silas waved, "Well we're not going to. We're not executioners... yes we've had a few bad runs and been forced to blow ships apart. But we're in a tough spot and we have to hold ourselves higher, we're not the Rebellion."

<I could heat the jar up,> Amber offered.

Silas rubbed his brow, "Bishop... what's our current trajectory?"

Bishop floated out of the wall, "Next beacon is empty Captain, but at the end of the sector is a shop. Federation controlled."

Silas nodded, brushing his hair back with his metal hand, "Okay, I could put out a call to them, say we have a dangerous prisoner, see if they could handle this little jackass. Would everyone be okay with that?"

Roxy nodded, "Just get him out of our home," she grumbled.

Silas reached a hand out, Roxy recoiled a bit, Silas sadly put the hand down, "We'll get through this."

"Looking for my store?"

Sitting at a cafe on a nearby seat was an individual, they wore a pink almost glittering suit, their hair was quaffed, and they had an almost devious grin on their face.

They stood up and brushed themselves off, "Hello, you may call me Mx. Monde, I am the owner and proprietor of Megavonne," they said pointing over.

The group would find the shop right behind themselves, a gem like logo adorning the store, numerous displays of evolutionary stones behind the walls.

Lumiose

Kim: "Ah, excellent." (She approaches them.) "Greetings. Kimberly Bond, at your service. I would like an Ampharosite, a Key Ring, and a Key Stone, please."

Glimwood Tangle

Hoops: Use Shadow Claw!

Kec begins to change to the ghost type, but he won't be able to do it quick enough. Hoops is already in motion, and as Hatty releases the Mystical Fire they jump in the way and take the force of the attack. It sends them spinning into the air where they barely grab onto a branch.

Hoops: groaning and in pain Now, Kec, do it.

Kec, having changed fully into the ghost type and grown his large shadowy claws, jumps over his trainer's body and slashes at Hatty.

Lumiose City

Me: It's a pleasure to meet you, Mx. I'm Ian and this is my buddy Piku-chan.

Piku-chan: <Nice to meet you.>

Evelyn: And I am Evelyn and this is Hatty.

Hatty: <A pleasure to meet you, Mx. Monde.>

Me: Would you mind if Evelyn and I browsed your store as well?

Hammerlocke Station

Evelyn: Sonano ka?^* "Is that so?". Sonano is also the Japanese name of the Pokémon Wynaut, making this line a pun.

Me: Sonansu, Evelyn-san.^* "That's just the way it is, Evelyn-san." Another pun. Sonansu is the Japanese name of the Pokémon Wobbuffet, who evolves from Wynaut.

Evelyn: Lemme guess... You didn't know what kind of person you wanted to be?

Me: Yes, actually...

-Beat-

Me: Wait, how did you know?

Evelyn: I saw it in your eyes...

Evelyn: Now, Hatty! Counter with Brutal Swing!

-Hatty surrounds her braids in a dark aura of violence and swings them at Kec, meeting his Shadow Claw.-

Natural History Museum, Wyndon

Zelda: <Heard that? Your name is Blossom now.>

Blossom: <I'm quite flattered. Thank you.>

Zelda: <So, think you can handle the big wide modern world? It's an adventure.>

Blossom: <Like in the Let's Plays?>

Shinji: <No. Better.>

Zelda: <Yeah, if you're into that sort of thing, I leave the adventuring for outgoing types like my brother or father. The rest of my family and I enjoy the sedentary life of the educational ambassador. But something tells me that this is the life you want.>

Shinji: <Well, excuse me, sis. Anyway, Blossom, you're with friends now. They'll take good care of you. And if we're in the neighborhood, we'll be sure to chip in.>

Blossom: <I'm so excited! I can't wait!>

So begins Blossom's Modern Life. Hopefully with a lot less bad luck than those of cartoon Kangaskhans.

Ba'al: I'd say prison's too good for the likes of them, but let them wallow in their guilt for all eternity.

Edward: <Ziltoid may have done many heinous crimes against me personally, but incarcerating these rogue ditto is something even he can be commended for.>

Kim: "I presume you're looking for Alakazite?"

Hammerlocke

Kim: "Well, this is... slightly romantic."

Kim: "This is fun."

Elton: <'Atty's getting taken down, folks!>

Monde lowered their glasses and looked over the group, their eyes were glittering like pink diamonds, "Ahh... you're J-Team aligned. Oh this changes things quite a bit," They said, their grin growing ever wider.

"Please, follow me into my store," they said stepping into Megavonne.

Lumiose, Megavonne

Kim: (smirks, as she realizes just what is in store) "Gladly."

(And with that said, she enters the store.)

Kim: "Ian? Evelyn? Are you two ready?"

Glimwood Tangle

-The Shadow Claw let loose by Kec overpowers Hatty and drives her back into the branch she jumped from.-

Evelyn: Hatty! Use Life Dew then come back to me!

-Hatty nods, then focuses her mind and gathers moisture from the air, condensing it into an orb of water. She then grants the orb of water healing properties and sprinkles it on herself, replenishing her strength as she jumps from branch to branch and back onto Evelyn's head.-

Evelyn: Here I come, Hoops!

-Evelyn jumps from her current branch and pushes off of the air with her foot, giving her extra height as she lands on a higher branch of another tree.-

Evelyn: I gotta say, this was a great idea! I'm having lots of fun!

Hammerlocke Station

Evelyn: So anyways... It's almost time to take the train to Wyndon. What do you think, Kim?

Lumiose City, Outside Megavonne

Evelyn: Well, I was considering an Alakazite, and maybe a Gardevoirite and Galladite just in case the twins decide on their evolutions.

Me: It definitely wouldn't hurt to have a Key Stone and Mega Stone set in case I find and bond with a Pokémon that can Mega Evolve...

-Beat-

Me: ...And maybe a Gardevoirite and Galladite just in case Raru wants to evolve.

-Ian and Evelyn follow Kim and Mx. Monde into the store.-

Ian, Evelyn, and Kim would find themselves not inside a store. Instead they were on a stage, there was bright spotlights shining on them, and then suddenly... clapping.

Out flew a Diance who spun around the stage, <Hello and welcome everyone! You all know me, your lovely host!>

The Diance suddenly became a human, Mx. Monde in fact, "Denali! We have a set of special guests with us tonight for a special game! Give them a round of applause!"

Intense cheering was heard, several Carbinks were seen sorting out the stage, Denali smiled, "Well dear audience. Are you ready for another game of-"

And suddenly there was intense shouting from the audience, "BOND! OR! BREAK!" and the cheering resumed.

Denali floated a gem hand over to Ian, Evelyn and Kim, it held a microphone, "Tell us! Any words for the audience out there?"

BOND! OR! BREAK!

Kim: (smirks to herself) So... the rumors were true. (then, to the audience) "Hello, audience, it is very nice to meet you."

Kim: "This is certainly fun, isn't it?"

Elton: <Sure is!>

Hammerlocke Station

Kim: "Indeed it is. This battle is going to be great."

Why does everything I say sound suspicious..?

Gale's Glimwood Cabin, Now

-Supplies had been stockpiled, albeit only enough for like a week at most and most of it was the usual dry-storage pantry Gale Knight tended to keep at the cabin. She needed these supplies for what had become her usual reaction to the changing of month from March to April: Hiding from the world at large and completely denying doing anything of narrative note. That said, right now in the hours before the day changing, she was doing the narrative-worthy act of live-streaming to her happy little community of fans-

Alright guys, so tomorrow the stream is entirely going to be radio mode; Just a bunch of chill music from my playlist and maybe occasionally I'll... I won't turn on the camera but I'll definitely be in the chat hanging out.

-She is quiet for a few moments as she watches the replies fill the chat-

Come on guys, you know why. I did this last year too. The world's just too hecking weird on April First and I don't like it. And the assorted big company and website ones are just blah too and isolating myself means I can ignore them. And I know like, the month away and just how little we've been able to do the professional cooking streams but... I don't want to say I'll do something noteworthy because for all I know tomorrow I'll wake up cosplaying as someone and get dragged into some stupid one-day media reference...

-And then she gets an idea-

Okay so I'm considering that there may be an edge case here, one that has two different good case scenarios. If I go to sleep while already wearing a costume and then continue to do so upon awakening then the two main things I can see happening is either that shorts out the weirdness by making it a matter of my own agency or it flings me into a one-day media reference but one that by necessity is poorly-built because of the one-day nature and short prep time and thus is ripe for my exploitation.

-Gale Knight smirked a little, with a certain pink blob off in Angela there was no one around to make her feel bad about possibly warping a story to her whims-

So yeah, I think... I think that's what I'll do. I mean of course, not gonna sleep a full costume because that's going to be uncomfortable, but definitely enough of it to be considered 'the costume' and have the rest ready to go in the morning. Though... I guess I did owe you guys some stream time...

-There's a slight sparkle in her eyes-

I think I have an idea for that. But, surprises. For now, I gotta prep~

"Good idea Gale," Silas said, "We'll take shifts in watching this thing. It got out once, it can possibly do so again."

"Captain, if you would please head to the helm of the ship so we could get the tightband out to the station," Bishop noted, before returning to the systems.

Silas sighed, "Alright, everyone dismissed, you may return to your usual activities."

He walked off and grabbed his green scarf as he headed out the door. Roxy sighed and rubbed her arm a bit, Arthur patted her on the shoulder and the two walked off.

Snakeye looked to Gale, <So, how we gonna keep 'im from breakin' out?>

The Pen appeared in Gale's field of vision with a smirk, Want to devise some form of ink trap or something? After all the pain this one caused I think we could really come up with something equivalent, how about a container made of nothing but mirrors?

Denali leaned over, "Not televised," they told Evelyn, "At least not to regular folks... only special interest groups such as fellow myths and legendaries... and a few weirdos."

Ziltoid sat at his control chair, sipping his 30th mug of coffee that day, staring at the screen as it played Bond or Break.

~Love this show.~

Denali smiled and waved, "Now contestants! Mind telling the audience what you're here for today?!"

Me: I've faced a criminal organization who hates Weremons, a criminal organization threatening to condense the multiverse into one universe, a world-ending glitch, Team Flarites and Pokémon Hunters. And I once played Growltiger, could do it again!

Phenac City, Pokémon Center

Gus: <A-CHOO!>

Levy: <Gesundheit.>

Gus: <Thank you, Levy... Somehow, I feel as though someone was talking about me behind my back...>

Levy: <Well, it's not something too serious... You did only sneeze once.>

Gus: <I suppose that's true...>

Levy:<Either way, I'm definitely hoping Emilie gets better...>

Gus: <Indeed... her trance must've been really deep... and I bet she's going to be famished when she comes to...>

Levy: <Right... And I don't think she's gonna be too happy about losing to "you-know-who"...>

Gus: Too true, Levy... Too true...>

Evelyn: -giggles- Well, let's go. He should be waiting for us at the Stadium already.

Me: Right.

-Ian and Evelyn get on the train. The train pulls out of the station and then heads off for its next destination: Wyndon.-

"Well folks you heard what they wanted!" Denali called out, the audience screamed, and with a snap of Denali's fingers the stage went dark.

When the lights came back, Ian and Evelyn would find themselves in the audience (really there were just a lot of empty chairs), and Kim would find herself sitting on a chair before a large screen, "Alright folks let's return to a classic!" Denali announced seemingly poofing on stage.

"Tell me Kim, how well do you know your team?"

Kim: "Fairly well, I'd say."

Hoops: Hey, I agree Evs. This really is fu-

Realising what they were about to say surprises them so much that they fall off the tree branch. Kec panics and sticks out his tongue, which wraps around Hoops' ankle and holds them there as Kec desperately tries to hold onto the branch.

Hoops: Did I... am I actually having fun during a battle?

Kec loses his grip on the branch, and both trainer and pokemon fall to the floor of the tangle. They land in a heap, unmoving.

Ballonlea, Eight Years Ago

The young child with blue and purple hair runs through the rain, cradling their Kecleon in their arms. It has some nasty injuries from some brutal battles, and so the child is carrying him to the pokemon centre.

The doors open automatically as they get close, and they run into the warm and bright lobby. The nurse at the desk turns to greet them with a smile, but her face falls when she sees the wet and bruised young child and their badly injured pokemon.

Nurse: Are you okay? What happened.

The child wipes their face in a vain attempt to hide their tears.

Child: We... we ran into a wild pokemon and we got badly beaten up.

It's an obvious lie, which the nurse picks up on.

Nurse: For the third time this month? If it's something other than wild pokemon, we won't be cross with you for telling us.

Child: No. It was definitely wild pokemon. It was an... an Ursaring.

The injuries aren't consistent with Ursaring, and they aren't native to the area anyway, but the nurse knows that the child will stick to this story. She makes a small note, and takes the pokemon. She gives the child a reassuring smile.

Nurse: Kec will be at full strength in just a little time. Do you want us to look at your injuries as well?

Child: No, they're... they're just bruises.

Nurse: Well, then just take a seat over there.

The child sits on one of the benches at the side of the lobby, feeling particularly vulnerable without their pokemon with them. They bury their face in their shirt.

Girl: Why are you crying?

The child looks up and sees a girl about their age with pink hair and wearing bright coloured clothes that look like what a witch would wear.

Child: I'm not crying.

Girl: Then why are you hiding your face?

Child: I'm not. I'm just... smelling my shirt.

Girl: What does it smell like?

Child: Salt.

The girl laughs.

Girl: Hey, really, why are you crying?

Child: My Kecleon got hurt. I'm worried about him. And I don't want to go home.

Girl: Why not?

Child: I just don't like it very much. It's not nice.

Girl: Huh. Hey, do you want to play?

Child: Play?

Girl: Yeah. You think of a word, and I guess what it is.

Child: Okay. Go.

Girl: Filibuster. What does that even mean?

Child: I don't know. How did you know?

Girl: I'm a bit psychic. I found out when I met my partner.

Child: That's so cool!

The girl smiles, glad that the child's mind has been taken off their injured pokemon. They chat for a bit longer, until Kecleon is restored and the child has to leave. As they leave, the nurse is glad that the child seemed to have a good time for once.

Glimwood Tangle, Present Day

Hoops: I'd almost forgotten about that.

They sit up slowly.

Hoops: I guess I really owe Evs. I forgot how important that encounter was to me back then.

Kec: <Who would have thought that girl was Evelyn?>

Hoops suddenly jumps out.

Hoops: Oh crap, did we just lose?

"Well fairly well is gonna have to do because we've got a round of questions!" Denali explained, the audience went "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

"The rules of this little game are fairly simple, behind that screen are several of your team, and they'll ask questions that you know the answer to based on how well you know them," Denali continued patting Kim on the shoulder.

"Get all of them right, and the evo stones are yours!"

Bond or Break

Kim: "Well. This sounds like fun." (She smirks.) "Bring it on."

Glimwood Tangle

(Kim and Elton are still high up in the tree.)

Kim: "Well. It appears they have lost."

Elton: <Yeah... but they really gave 'atty a run for 'er money! Plus, didn't you 'ear them?! 'Oops was 'aving fun!>

Kim: "So they were. And that just leaves Hatty and Evelyn." (She turns to face Elton.) "Elton? Start shaking the tree."

Elton: <Will do!>

(Elton jumps down to a branch close to the tree trunk and starts shaking it profusely, attempting to get Evelyn or Hatty to fall.)

Evelyn: Holy Hecate! Hoops!

-Evelyn jumps out of the tree, with Hatty clinging to her head and hovers in midair over Hoops.-

Evelyn: Are you okay, Hoops? That looked like it hurt...

Gamespace, Bond or Break

???: -in a distorted voice- <Hey there. 'Sbeen a while, hasn't it? I just wanna say that it has been a great journey so far an' I'm glad to be a great big part of it. Here's to many more adventures with you. So... Who am I?>
