Stylus puts the pDroid away, "Got the hard drive there for a reason /Duck/, if you get cold just hop in."

Ribbon squinted, "Man what happened here... did bombs go off?"

"Probably. Nuclear winter of sorts most likely, lack of radiation is due to centuries passing, though it doesn't explain why we've turned into our pokemon forms," Stylus commented, he rolled his left shoulder, hopefully the radiator would keep his metal arm warm enough.

"Regardless, we're here to explore, we'll inspect some of the buildings and hopefully set up camp."

Ribbon nodded and trotted off, Stylus leading the group into the snow covered city.

As they went further, they noticed a few odd sights, crashed planes, overturned cars and trains, and yet not a single body among them. Stylus carefully stepped around the environment, still pondering what happened.

"Hey, try your aura sight, maybe you'll find something," Ribbon suggested.

Stylus nodded and closed his eyes, took a deep breath of the cold air and let himself drift, sensing what he could, he saw the auras of others, oddly to his "eyes" everyone seemed to have... a colour of sorts. Odd, didn't remember this when he first used these abilities, maybe thanks to all that training he had advanced to something else.

Everyone was green, though Ribbon was pink or fuschia or something, how stra- he gasped and opened his eyes, his lekku dropping back down.

"Everyone hide."

Ribbon blinked, Stylus hissed, "Now!"

He ducked under a piece of rubble, Ribbon following him.

Turffeild, Past

Merlin: Oh! Would you like the male potions, the female potions, the mixed potions, or the Gender-Away potions? That last one's a hit with the kids lately.

Fou: <Please don't encourage him.>

Lucius: Oh, wow, that was... actually kind of impressive. Let's be real, I sure wouldn't have done that.

-He pauses for a second as he realises what he just said.-

Lucius: I mean, uh, I sure wouldn't have been able to do that. Because, y'know... I probably wouldn't want to. Anyway, um, hi! Long time no see. I, er... I didn't know you had a little blue water lizard.

-the team gets to Milo with minimal fuss, Jack doing most of the heavy lifting-

Milo: Welcome! Congrats on completing my gym mission! I've been itching to see just how good the J-Team Gym Challengers are... Let's find out!

Channah: ...

Milo: Go! Gossifleur!

Channah: -sends out Korexis- Dragon Breath.

Milo: Ooh. Let's start with a Razor Leaf!

-leaves begin to fly around Gossifleur as Korexis dashes forward and breathes magical flame in its face-

Gossifleur: <Ew! Brush your teeth!>

-the leaves hit Korexis, who snarls adorably and runs from the stragglers in a circle around the Grass-type. When the barrage ends, he goes in for a Headbutt, which connects with a heavy thud. Gossifleur floats to the ground, dazed, as Korexis wheels around and gasses it in the face with another Dragon Breath-

Milo: We're not going to be done in that easy! Gossifleur, Sing!

Gossifleur: <DOWN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GAAAARDEN->

Korexis: <Mm, sleepy...>

Channah: Really. -withdraws the snoozing Korexis and sends out Jack- Finish it off.

Jack: -Quick Attacks the Gossifleur, fainting it-

Milo: -sends out Eldegoss- This isn't done yet. I think you'll find we're tough as weeds!

Channah: As ugly too. Jack, Flame Charge.

Jack: -attacks the Eldegoss for unimpressive damage- I'm getting pumped up!

Channah: ...Moderately sturdy then.

Milo: Come on! It's Dynamax time!

Channah: -squints as Milo's pokeball suddenly swells to beach ball size and he tosses it behind him to the roar of the crowd- ...

Eldegoss: -dynamaxed- < H A L L O C H A P S >

Channah: -craning her neck and backing up- Okay... A Fire-type Grass Knot would be cool right about now. Jack, return. Owen! Stall for me. -sends out the Arrokuda-

Owen: <Did you know that [Zooey Deschanel] of She and Him collaborated with Brian Wilson in his 2015 solo album?>

Eldegoss: < N O > -Max Strikes Owen-

Channah: -jumps backward to avoid the devastating attack- Just gotta - whoa! - wait this out. Two more turns...

-when the air clears, Owen is lying on the ground, fainted dead away. She returns him and sends out Korexis, who's still napping-

Milo: Max Strike again!

Channah: -dances back out of reach of the attack again, which KO's Korexis handily- They need floating battle platforms is what they need. Sorry boy.

Jack: -jumps out of his ball, dancing to the crowd's singing- <Whoaaaa, that's a spicy meatball.>

Channah: Yeah. Jack, Flame Charge.

Jack: <I hope you know what you're doing...!> -turns into a tiny ball of flame running at the Eldegoss-

Milo: It's going to take more than that to defeat us!

-Jack begins a faster-than-usual Riverdance as the cracks in the ground start spidering out from his position for another Max Strike. Thanks to his enhanced speed from the earlier Flame Charges, he just clears the epicenter, still getting hit, but not with the full power of the move-

Channah: -tense, turning once to glare at the exuberant crowd- Come on...

-Jack comes to a tottering but standing stop as Eldegoss returns to normal size-

Channah: Yesss. Get him. Or her. Can't tell with these foreign mons.

-Jack is zooming around now, Flame Charging left and right. Eldegoss attempts a Cotton Spore, but he's still faster-

Jack: -as Eldegoss faints- <Save it for the next dance, partner! Whew!>

-the crowd roars and Milo returns his Pokemon-

Milo: The power of Grass has wilted... What an incredible gym challenger! Please allow me to present you with your very own Grass badge!

Channah: -withdrawing Jack and taking the badge, peering at its odd shape dubiously- Uh. Bye. -abruptly leaves the stadium, changing out of her uniform as quickly as possible-

Well, if it's any consolation I find the best thing to do with arenas is to focus on the guy you're battling in front of you and block out everything else. Now Elesa's Gym in Unova, that was worse for me because there the people are so close that they could grab you by the leg and drag you into the crowd.

In the skies were 3 creatures, from the looks of it... Flygon... but something was wrong... very wrong. The Fylgon seemed distorted in shape and size, and instead of the recognizable friendly face with the natural goggle lenses, it seemed almost feral, the goggles of sorts gone. The one in front let out a screech as they flew off into the distance, vanishing from view in the clouds.

Ribbon blinked, "Stylus what the hell was that? How the hell did you know to hide?"

"My aura sight seems to have... well for lack of better terms, leveled up. I think I've got a friend or foe identification system for mine, and those were just coated in red, which is pretty clear, they're hostile."

Ribbon nodded slowly, "So... Flygon huh? What the hell happened to them?"

Stylus pulled out the hard drive, "Hey /Duck/, this world has any reason for heavy mutations like that?"

Me: <I think they were Flygon...>

Evelyn: <Not any Flygon I've ever seen...>

Hatty: <And they didn't look too friendly...>

-Aspen looked up and saw the disformed Flygon's. She focused her mind on them and saw a reddish aura from them- 'A reddish aura?! Are they enemies? Why are they like this?! What happened!?'

-She came out of hiding-

Aspen, to Stylus: "The same with mine. I saw a reddish aura from them as well! Although, I'm not good with mine yet..."

Aspen, to Ian: "Sure! Why not? Might as well take a look around here as well."

Me: <I'm all for exploration, Aspen... I just hope we don't step on the wrong switch and attract all the wrong sorts of attention.>

Evelyn: <All the wrong sorts of attention?>

Me: <Yeah. Like those Flygonoids... I know we don't really need to worry about them, 'cause... you and I are Fairy types... but Piku-chan, Hatty and Aspen are not.>

Piku-chan: <So... think we should notify Silas and /Duck/ before we explore this ruined city?>

Evelyn and I: <Wouldn't hurt to ask.>

Me: <Sure would. And I have my Hypnosis attack, which can help us get out of a jam, if need be...>

/Duck/: <I will be honest, the answer I have as to 'why' doesn't suit your metasensibilities so I will just say that I am not aware of reasons why a Pokemon would be mutated this far away from Unova in this universe. There is a viral mutagen over there that does something different but similar to this but still. FEV making it's way over here would be unlikely at best.>

Will and Fuka are travelling through the fields just outside the city

Fuka: It's just weird, though. You have to go to Turffield first?

Will: For the fifth time, yes. It's way more formal than other regions. Other places you can just go wherever's convenient, long as you get all eight.

Fuka: Weird. So, you excited to try your first Gym Battle?
