Kim: “It’s fine. I’ll be careful.”

(Meanwhile, the Pokémon enter the inside of the tent. There are already sleeping bags inside. Upon seeing them, most of the Pokémon gasp in awe. Dio and Elton instantly get inside their sleeping bags.)

Dio: <Aaaaaah~!>

Elton: <So... comfy...>

(Freddie, meanwhile, jumps back in fear.)

Freddie: <I-it’s dark... it’s dark...!>

Sinatra: <'Course it is; it’s night.>

Freddie: (whimpers) <A-and night is absolutely terrifying...!>

Kaylan: <It’s not that bad...>

(He and Sinatra get into their sleeping bags. Freddie, however, is still shaking.)

Freddie: <A-are you serious, Kaylan...? W-who knows what there’ll be?! W-what if there are s-scary noises... or worse, w-what if a bunch of scary Pokémon come i-into the tent...?>

Geddy: (petting his back) <Nothing like that is going to happen. You’ll be okay.>

Freddie: <I... I d-don’t know if I will...>

(Geddy silently continues petting his back, until eventually...)

Elton: <Hey, Freddie?>

(Freddie looks up, about to be in tears again.)

Elton: <You wanna sleep with me tonight?>

Freddie: (surprised) <A-are you sure?>

Elton: <Course I am! This bed’s big enough for the two of us! Come on!>

(Freddie slowly approaches the sleeping bag Elton is in and gets inside.)

Freddie: (whimpers)

Geddy: <I’ll come, too.>

(He gets inside with Freddie and Elton and hugs the former.)

Freddie: <O-oh... t-thank you, Geddy... and you too, Elton...>

Elton: <Ah, no problem, chap!>

Geddy: <You’re welcome.>

Evelyn's Camp

-Piku-chan and Evelyn enter the tent and get ready for bed.-

Me: Okay... now that I know you'll be careful, go on ahead... I'm not gonna stop you... and besides... if it's what Dio wants...

Wild Area, East Lake Axewell

-Standing near the staircase leading to Motostoke, looking out into the lake-

Is that a Haxorus on that island in the center?

Cam: -Looking out- <Looks like it.>

-Turning towards a pot with food cooking-

Better make sure this doesn't burn.

Evelyn's Camp- The Tent

Kim: "Hang on, Ian... let me see if everyone is asleep first..."

(She checks on the rest of the Pokemon. Sure enough, they are all asleep. Dio is sleeping the most soundly and doesn't even hear Kim approaching him with the Razor Fang in her hand. Kim turns to Ian and nods.)

Kim: "Good. Everyone is asleep."

(she approaches Dio and very quietly drops the Razor Fang inside his sleeping bag)

Kim: (getting inside a sleeping bag herself) "Let's see if he manages to feel it inside his bag."

Evelyn's Camp

-Ian unrolls his sleeping bag and gets into it after Kim does the thing.-

Me: Kim? I have one question, still... What is "1984" about?

Evelyn's Camp- Inside the Tent

Kim: "It's a long story, but I'll summarize it as best I can. 1984 is a story of surveillance, totalitarianism, rebellion, and propaganda. More specifically, it's the story of Winston Smith, a worker for the English Socialist Party, led by the ominous Big Brother. The Party surveys the general public with machines called 'telescreens', and employ the 'Thought Police' to take away and torture anybody who goes against their beliefs. Winston is one of those people- while he puts up a facade of obedience, in reality he hates the Party and their beliefs. He starts having a forbidden affair with a co-worker of his named Julia, behind all the surveillance and telescreens, and the results... well, I'm not going to spoil the ending, but let's just say... it doesn't end well."

Me: That doesn't sound like a world I would want to live in...

Kim: "Oh, believe me. You wouldn't." (she turns around in her sleeping bag) "Good night, Ian."

Evelyn's Camp, Tent

Me: -turns around in sleeping bag- Night, Kim. Night, Evelyn.

-Ian then drifts off to sleep...-

-A strange world unfolds... The sun is blocked out by the clouds, making the landscape darker and gloomier in comparison to the world we know it. In a town that looks kind of like Motostoke, but darker and with strange posters everywhere, a young, colorful traveler traverses the town, quivering slightly every two steps, but standing bravely nonetheless... Though, it is not known for how much longer...-

Me: H-Hello?

(Hello? Hello?)

-Ian looks behind him and to his right, only to find that Evelyn is not there!-

Me: Evelyn?

(Evelyn? Evelyn?)

-Ian then looks behind him and to his left, only to find that Kim is not there!-

Me: Kim?

(Kim? Kim?)

Me: Where is everybody?

(Where is everybody?)

Me: Hello?!

(Hello?! Hello?!)

Me: Am I... alone?

(alone? alone?)

Me: I am... But I don't have to be!

-Ian places his right hand to his head and focuses, trying to telepathically contact either of his friends...-

-But nobody came...-

Me: My psychic powers don't work?! Oh, this is bad...

(bad...)

The Middle of the Night

(It is the middle of the night. Freddie is shaking somewhat in his sleeping bag while Geddy is still comforting him. Dio, meanwhile, is twisting and turning in his sleeping bag, trying to get into a comfortable position. He looks slightly uncomfortable, presumably because of the Razor Fang that is inside his bag. Eventually, however, his tail latches on to the Razor Fang, and he grabs it off with his claw and cuddles it, not realizing what he's carrying or what is about to happen to him.)

Dio: (sighs with relief) <Ahhhh... much better...>

(And seconds later, he flashes a bright blue. Dio doesn't even notice the evolution happening. In the background, the opening notes of "46&2" begin to play, and Dio's entire body grows about two times bigger. The spikes on his wings shrink away into the ether, and the single clawed toe on each foot splits into two. His arms and legs detach from his wings, and his claws grow bigger and become more serrated— almost pincer-like in shape. His body becomes thinner and longer, his tail gets slightly longer, and his upper torso expands into a shape resembling an open mouth, with two fang-like protrusions on either side. Dio still is asleep the entire time, with no idea as to what is currently happening to him. As for the Razor Fang, it sinks away into his body. Finally, Dio's ears grow somewhat shorter, then widen, and then move slightly further away from the middle of his head. Eventually, the light snaps off of Dio's body, and Dio is now a Gliscor— with no knowledge of what has happened to him. None of Kim's other Pokemon have been alerted by the light, and Kim herself is still fast asleep— yet she seems to have heard what happened, as she smirks to herself.)

Evelyn's Camp, Tent

-Ian tosses and turns in his sleeping bag, reeling from the nightmare...-

???

-Ian runs nervously through the eerie gray town, yelling out to his friends, hoping he can find at least one of them...-

Me: -scaredly- Evelyn! Kim! Where are you?!

-...before tripping over his own feet and faceplanting...-

Me: Where am I?

-a Yellow and a Blue skid back to the entryway of the Berry stand-

-...and find a certain young, blind woman eating Berries from a paper tray, and a young man dressed all in reds and whites doing much the same, if with rather more evident enjoyment-

Abilene: -munch- These could be better. With more appropriate soil—

Hiro: -observing- You're eating a lot of them for this critique.

Abilene: -grabbing another- Shut up.

Megan: Hiro!

Logan: Abilene!

Abilene: -turn- Wh—oh there's no escaping any of you.

Lanatus: -greet-tweet-

Logan: -wry- Ditto. What's up?

Hiro: -noncommital gesture, fistbumping Megan- Well, Abilene—

Abilene: -turning around and slamming her hands on the counter- What do you think of Macro Cosmos?!

Shopkeep: -flinch- What???

Megan: meep???

Abilene: -thrusting a finger under the shopkeep's chin- The energy company with the rot at its core. The corporate entity into which you poured your investment and trust, only for it to return with not only full containers but terrible peril. The apocalypse the chairman himself unleashed on the land—are you for it? Against it? What is public opinion?!

Hiro: ...is investigating.

Abilene: Buy my product.

Shopkeep: E-everything here is locally grown! It's brought in fresh from the trees, and...I don't want to import expensive niche things?^? Who buys this stuff??

Abilene: -...clench- ...damn, I can't compete with that.

-she sighs-

-righting herself, brushing off- ...very well, then you can at least answer my inquiries. If I won't be compensated in any other fashion.

Shopkeep: ...you came in here and bought Berries from me! I don't know who you are!

Abilene: -point- And you never will if you don't answer my questions!

Shopkeep: -strangled shriek-

Logan: -...interpose- ...have you ever performed an investigation not in a city you have a stranglehold over?

Abilene: How difficult could it be. People can be cooperative.

Logan: People don't want to be cooperative.

Abilene: ...wait, have I offered you money yet?

Shopkeep: -pointedly- Aside from the market price of one order of Berries? No, no you have not.

Abilene: -bill-wad- I'm offering you money.

Shopkeep: -light up- What do you want me to say?

Logan: -sigh- This is dystopian.

Hiro: -offers them a consolatory Chesto Berry, which they take a despondent bite out of-

Logan: ...dang, these are actually really good.

Hiro: -appreciatively- They're fresh.

Abilene: Buy my product.

Shopkeep: In my house?!

Greedent: -squeak!-

Kinda weird how you can run into people here that'll just give you meat. I wondered if if it was spoiled or poisoned at first.

-She snatches up the card and starts walking toward the exit.-

-She ollies out. Rose looks at Pent.-

-Pent takes a deep breath-

I had a flash of something when I saw your Persona in action, might of been inspiration. I don't think it's properly formed, or at least not fully powered up like everyone else's and that's probably because of the unique situation of... Everything about you.

-He slips the 'wrong' printed Calling Card from his pocket and puts it on the table with the logo up, hiding what text it may have-

That's my proposed solution, but keep in mind if you pick that up then you'll have to see it through. I can't promise it won't be painful, but it might be the only way to put your past to rest.

-Pent lets out a deep sigh and steps back-

-She slowly takes the card, face-down. She doesn't look at the text yet.-

-Starts talking before I remember my mouth is full, swallows, and then starts talking again-

Oh right, that. Well I've got an idea, but I think I'll keep it under wraps until we get to Motostoke Stadium. You?
