(Kim sees the door and smiles before nodding in Alex’s direction.)

Kim: “Thank you, Vogel.”

(With that, she and Paul enter the room...)

Kimberly’s Room

(...to find a bed.)

Kim: (to herself) “Well... this is boring. It’s just a bed.”

(Then, suddenly, an idea comes to her. She smirks.)

Kim: “Fortunately... a bed is all I need.”

(She promptly sits down on the bed, before reaching into her purse and pulling out her phone, a speaker, and her notebook. After scrolling through her phone for a bit, she plugs it into the speaker, and in an instant, https://youtu.be/CES2wmB9PlE plays loud enough for her to hear. She promptly takes out her notebook, and flips through the pages until she finds one that reads MONESE EXPERTS on one side and MONESE RULES (IF ANY) on the other. Under the left side, she writes:)

Kim (to herself): “Now... to actually see if I can learn this thing...”

Yeah, the Ultra Beast variant of Monese is different from the standard, and so the Armbands don't allow us to understand it automatically, it has to be learned the hard way. They're saying that they don't like being in the ball.

Halis: "...CC? You think I'm some sort of 'raid boss'? That you just think I'm going to be useless?"

Something about that in particular seems to set them off, and they clutch the sword tighter than before with one hand.

Halis: "It's one thing to be cautious, it's another to be outright arrogant. There's a reason I was able to get here so easily earlier. I was going to try and go easy on you, and even now I still want to, but..."

Halis: "Anything that happens is on you, alright? You said that I can be dealt with easily, so prove it."

Without any hesitation, they leap at the group, their target undecided but throwing out a blast of lightning indiscriminately to cover their approach. They still don't look happy about this situation, but now it's for a completely different reason.

Correct Lumiose Warehouse, VS Veritas and Halis

-Ian the Witch jumps back and taps his wand against the brim of his hat-

Me: Piku-chan, appear!

-A yellow-ish puff of smoke explodes from the hat and Piku-chan jumps from the smoke-

Piku-chan: <Ta-da!>

Me: Alright, Colton! We'll need to defeat Veritas if we want to safe Pentigan, so you'll have to find a way to break Veritas' barrier, and I'll do what I can to talk some sense into Halis.

-Ian waves his wand from left to right-

Me: Oshawittle! Use Protect to guard against Halis' Thunderbolt!

Raru! Use your Hypnosis and see if we can't calm them down!

Mothra! Use String Shot to slow them down!

-The three Pokémon Ian calls on jump from their Poké Balls-

-Oshawittle raises his scalchop and a Protect shield forms around the party-

-Raru's eyes glow a bright pink as he sends soothing energy waves in Halis' general direction, spinning his cute little arms around and around in the process-

Raru: <Just relax, Halis... and listen to my voice... your body feels as light as a feather...>

-Mothra releases a sticky string from her mouth to try and tie Halis' feet together-

Stranger took the controls of the craft. He had been familiarizing himself with the controls of the Normandy and the O-Wing ever since he first moved in. It helped him occupy those lonely nights. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little bit of jealously.

Stranger: " 'Oh yeah Stranger, just go and park the Normandy somewhere while we get to have an epic chase scene down some city streets'. Let's face, I have essentially been told to wait by the car."

He muttered to himself as he discretely maneuvered the Normandy under the water near Overpass 56, the incomplete bridge looming overhead.

Stranger: "-sigh- I just hope they know what they're at."

He leaned back in his chair, put his hands behind his head and waited.

Viridian City

Tsuki (Buneary) flopped on of its ears and shrugged. Musubi (Emolga) crossed its arms and looked annoyed at Bewear. Hotaru (Liligant) hid behind Alexa.

"Amazing! I myself am a simple gym trainer-turned-cheerleader. Nothing as grand as you are," Alexa said.

Veritas, Kept From Self: Oh wonderful, they did it all on her own! Guess that whole 'heroes don't initiate' mantra isn't as true as expected. Mind if you keep asking questions while you fight? I like answering and well there's not much else to do in here besides watch.

-With an actual fight starting up, Lucian starts backing away because he's still dressed as a specific person from a specific music video and thus doesn't have powers-

No one said I intended to! Colton defended, clearly regretful he had hurt Halis, so much so he didn't even try to attack, wings on his arms folding back in.

Sunny leaped to the rafter, throwing feathers behind Halis' barrier as best she could while Ammy conjured another sigil counting down to another detonation after creating a whirlwind to keep Halis at bay.

Sylveon swung Gambol Shroud, attempting to strike their flank.

(From inside her room, Kim is still listening to Distant Early Warning and hasn’t made much progress. Her notebook is filled to the brim with dozens of neko-kanji (猫), presumably drawn in correspondence with the main 12-note riff in DEW. She is still sitting on her bed, deep in thought. Eventually, however, she hears something from outside, and turns off DEW.)

Kim: (muttering to herself) “What is that...?”

(Now curious, she grabs her notebook and flips through the pages. Eventually, she reaches the door to hear whoever it is better- and when she realizes what she is hearing, she gapes in pure disbelief.)

Kim: “Tha- that’s the Japanese language...”

(And just like that, she turns to Paul and instantly goes into full fangirl mode.)

Kim: “That’s the Japanese language! We need to get out there as soon as we can! Whoever is outside knows JP- which, presumably, means he knows Monese as well!”

(Paul happily flies up to the door.)

Kim: “Not to mention, of course, dozens and dozens of kanji...”

(She opens the door, steps out, and proclaims:)

Kim: 私はどこよ''~!" ^note  “Watashi wa doko yo” = “I am here”

I just spent about 2 playings of [RUSH]’s Distant Early Warning drawing these.”

(She opens the notebook and shows him the 猫-kanji.)

-Ian reads the kanji over, and interprets it-

Me: Hmm... Cat. I like your penmanship.

-as Logan converses, Addie scrolls through the Rangernet browser-

-they start to walk upstairs, presumably with Lamarck and Darwin and the gaggle of Umbreon-

Kim: “Anyways, as I was saying, I’m trying to learn Monese right now, and was wondering if you either know it or could teach me it.” (beat) “Assuming, of course, you do know it.”

Me: Of course, I can help you, Kim. I know Monese.

Ersatz Alliance, Past

There's a flash of light as Fuka puts on the armband. When it fades, where Fuka was standing is a Pokemon. A light blue, stubby-legged little creature with a shark fin on its back.

Fuka: Gible...? Gib Gib... Gible(looks down at herself, and suddenly becomes excited) Gible! Gible Gible Gib!! (she starts twirling in place) Gib Gibbi Gib Gible! (stops to look at her hand, there is still a bleeding cut there, her enthusiasm fades) Gible...

Translation: <Did it work...? Woah, my voice... I sound like> (looks down at herself, and suddenly becomes excited) <I'm a Gible! It really, actually worked!> (she starts twirling in place) <If Sammi saw me like this she'd want to adopt me on the spot!> (stops to look at her hand, there is still a bleeding cut there, her enthusiasm fades) <Hm....>

"Correct Nightingale. Everyone load up, we're making the push," Jackal explained.

Fox rushed upstairs with glee, cheering something about a "car chase" over and over.

Jackal nodded to Avenger, "Alright, get yourself a good partner out, we're going to be dealing with a lot. And Coil, glad to have you on our side."

Jackal directed the team to the vehicles, looked out a window at the overpass, revved the engine and jumped. Breaking the glass window open, Hayon cheered in excitement as time seemed to slow, and then the bike landed.

Several Guild Cops watched in shock as the Jackal headed down the highway, they were even more shocked at what happened next.

Kim: “You will?! Oh—! Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have only one Pokemon, and I’ve been trying to understand what he’s been saying for the longest time now, and now I finally have the chance to actually learn something about the language?! This is the greatest day of my life~! I-”

(She pauses, realizing she was rambling.)

Kim: “I apologize for that...” (chuckles) “I doubt you’d want to have your first impression of me be an excited, gushy rambler...” (She takes out her pen and flips to another page in her notebook.) “Let’s get to business, shall we? This is Paul.”

(She motions to her Butterfree, who happily waves.)

Paul: <<Hello, Ian!>>

Kim: “He’s my only Pokémon. So far. I’ve been trying to learn the rules of the Monese language, but in my research I haven’t been able to find any... unlike Japanese, which has thousands of grammatical constructs, particles, and the like. Perhaps you know of a few unspoken rules that I was not made aware of...?”
