-Once again, Jevil's head is knocked off, but he cheerfully picks it back up with nary a care in the world. The effects of the Styler and the tandem Hypnosis do seem to teeter him ever so slightly, but do not manage to put him to sleep as easily as Hypnosis normally would.-

-and Vee and Mega!Donnel attempt to pin Pride in place with a succession of Whirlpool essences, but don't attack any further-

-and then Megan lifts a hand to the side of her face in...a typical, if situationally strange thumb-and-pinky "calling someone" gesture-

Megan: Logan, we have a Shadow.

-Vee leans back from the Z-Move and Volt Tackles, appreciatively-

Megan: Wh—here—the ship!

-Donnel glances back at Megan-

Megan: What—

-she lets the butt of her trident hit the ground-

Megan: -urgently- There are people from home!

-the light crackles and snaps as the sound strikes it, dissolving and leaving a top skipping away in its wake-

-the Mobius Employee grits their teeth at the revolving song, and start to make an odd gesture—-

-and then stop, and inexplicably raise their left hand to the side of their face in a "calling someone" gesture-

-the Capture Disc returns to their side-

Logan: Wisp's fine. Pollen counted at least three, there's too much metal.

-a hand movement, and it traces out an angular Sign in the air-

Logan: Get them back to the Dreamweaver. I'll try to pacify this one, we'll take as many as we can—

-what could be best described as a blue Hard Stone the size of a beach ball drops from the ether in its place-

The TV starts to blare out an address from some important-looking guy in a suit.

Pierre: Gee, I wonder what tinpot dictator he's gonna be giving a heartfelt eulogy to.

At the other end of the shop, near the cashier.

Rotom Jonathan: Get these to go, Dave. This was a mistake.

Dave: Whaddya mean—oh hey, is that your father?

Rotom Jonathan: I'll tell you more about it later.

PC: <I can concur that it makes him feel upset.>

PC surreptitiously introduces the story to Dave's mind. In their timeline, Jonathan had been murdered while on assignment, not long after he and his father had reconciled. Pierre was devastated and fell into catatonia on the day of his funeral; he died not long after of heart complications.

Rotom Jonathan: <I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL HIM YET.>

Dave politely took his bag of doughnuts and left with his pokémon. As a rotom Jonathan cannot cry like he would back when he was a human, but PC definitely knows sorrow and, to a degree, some contentment.

-Julius roars and lunges with a Darkest Lariat-

-His companions launch attacks of their own-

At least one of the oncoming attacks was blatantly aimed at AU!Halis, who quickly ducks behind cover as it glances off of the wall.

AU!Halis: "Hey, seriously, didn't I say not to attack me!? I'm a neutral here! I mean, granted, it's a chaotic neutral, but still! Talk about rude..."

They give the one who did it a cold look and a gesture that says 'I'm watching you' before resuming their now-justified looting, tipping over a chair as gently as possible in protest.

-everyone kinda just stares at the place where Pride was-

Megan: ...

Mega!Donnel: <...>

Vee: -bemused- <Shit. Ghost-type.>

-and she starts sniffing around for any trace of where they went-

-Donnel tilts his head, and Megan catches her helmet before it falls-

Megan: Right. Uh...

-she puts it on, awkwardly, over her glasses-

I've been in one of these, I think, so...

-she clanks to the ground, and thinks back on the past harrowing, lonely year-

-and inside the helmet, she grins-

-increasingly giddy- With the whole Team here, is there anything else to do but kick butt?

-and she showily twirls her trident to rest angled behind her silhouette, awaiting direction-

PEFE!Every: ...Ah. Hello.

Right. Trained battling Pokemon. People do that.

Gengar. Ghost/Poison, according to League typing guidelines. Unusually fast, with pronounced offensive abilities, particularly at range. Close quarters engagement is viable, I think. Gengar also not notable for extensive resilience, though I imagine it doesn't make much of a difference with the clear experience gap.

Although until recently it was believed that Gengar are wholly immune to ground-based attacks, that's been demonstrated to be a facet of arenas in which Gengar can readily access aerial microshadows. In reality, it exhibits a common ghostly capacity for brief paralysis of vital functions...Cursed Body, I think the League calls it.

-PEFE!Every sends out Sharptooth between her and Bartemaeus-

Open with Ground moves. Bulldoze, Earthquake would be horribly dangerous within a confined space.

Sharptooth: <Ah, the delectable scent of— wait, that's just kerosene, not a delicious barbecue. What's going on?>

PEFE!Every: Negotiations. If she tries anything, Bulldoze the Gengar. (to Dr. Robinson) Do you really think it's a good idea, getting into a destructive fight where only you have anything to lose?

Talbain ducked under the Darkest Lariat while Caliburn managed to deftly dodged the strikes while attempting to sneak in a Sacred Sword and Amaterasu was launched away mid-Flame Charge.

-Tagg's scan also notes a couple other things about the base's residents. Notably, the other two Shadow Pokemon — like Pride, they're both Minds of Crystal, but in Jevil's case, it's not nearly as connected to the divine, due to being a product of translation from another world.-

Bartemaeus: <Who said anything about a destructive fight?>

-Barty leans in and gazes into Sharptooth's eyes, a strange drowsy energy emitting from them.-

-Robinson holds her own long, harsh gaze on PEFE!Every, although it does not have any particular effect beyond being impossible to meet her eyes.-

Robinson: I've already lost enough that it doesn't matter. Those J-Team bastards are already destroying everything, so if the best I can do is set an example, then so be it.

-Jevil's song cuts off abruptly as Zenyatta uses Imprison, and he stops in place as the attacks batter him.-

Jevil: {Uee hee hee! How can you hope to contain me, when I am already free?}

-He pelts the party with a barrage of Embers, jumping from corner to corner with astonishing speed.-

-in addition to the aforementioned Auras, Tagg's ping might also note that Vee's Aura is rather unstable, in a familiar way, and one human Aura near one of the Shadows is...unusually bright, for a lack of a better term—not necessarily stronger, but...more bright-

Megan: Okay, so we—I, and like three other people—humans, and the mons we took with us—we sorta got booted to...someplace, for some prophecy or something, I think?

-rambling- Okay, there was this world, and it was our world, except not really, and it was sorta frozen in time, and we spent a lot of time trying to fix it from these other people who were trying to keep it all the same, then I think time died and then there was another time—

Uh, wait. That's—too much detail.

There were zombies, and pirates, and faeries, and—not enough detail. Uh.

-Vee's just watching Megan at this point-

We went to space! But not our space. And kinda split up, except Logan was with me most of the time—actually, I don't know if you know Logan? They're a Ranger, they're really cool, they don't sleep enough—

And—there were all these worlds, and the sun wasn't the sun, and the moon was the size of the sun and there were these space empires and—the Plates! Arceus's Plates, and—

Vee: -long, slow blink with her good eye-

Um. People were butts. Frick. And there was. Were. Several apocalypses. Uh.

And we got lost.

But we're, uh, here now, and—

-and now she starts crying, in earnest-

-but she's trying really hard not to-

-Logan, oblivious to but hypothetically unsurprised at any breakdowns going on in the friend group, ducks between scattering Embers like a professional [Touhou] protagonist-

-meanwhile, the strange blue boulder has unfolded completely-

-into a squat, six-armed mech made of stone-

-that's wielding a Rabbid Weapon in most of its arms-

-Logan directs Lapis to, with a frenzy of lever-pulling, twirls, and cognitive leaps-

-they swiftly run through the list of everyone Megan's ever told them about-

-The Azumarill comes out of their pokeball right on queue, shooting a large blast of water at the Incineroar. Aura uses dazzling gleam on some of the other pokemon.-

Orre, Factory Tower, Level 25

-Gaia smirks beneath her helmet as she facetiously responds to Rogue.-

Gaia: Making everything about yourself as always, Rogue. Can't you understand that life's nothing without a little mystery?

-She looks over at Jackal, and she's all business once again.-

Gaia: Some vague hints and allusions, but nothing conclusive. I suspect the best way to find out what exactly we are facing will be to push on and - oh, one moment.

-She uses her wrist-mounted dart launcher to fire two EMP darts at an approaching cyborg, before wrapping her whip around the neck of another and overcharging it.-
