Between this guy and the one in the proper Palace beforehand, it was just one harasser after another. Maybe next time I'll take some pictures so I can give you a better idea of what these places are like.

As for why I told you all this despite the secrecy we've held for the other's protection in case things go sour, well, I trust you.

Silversmith Sr.: "What? What's so funny?"

Silversmith: "Heh heh... Remember a month back, when you thought a boulder or something crashed into the air conditioner?"

Silversmith Sr.: "Yes."

Silversmith: "...It wasn't a boulder."

Silversmith Sr.: "...It was?"

Silversmith: "Cortez."

Silversmith Sr.: "Your breloom?"

Silversmith: "Yes!"

Silversmith began laughing but his father was not amused.

Silversmith Sr.: "Jackson, that costed $300 to fix."

Silversmith: "Yea? So?"

Silversmith Sr.: "And you were responsible."

Silversmith saw where this was leading.

Silversmith: "...You wouldn't."

Silversmith Sr.: "I most certainly would. You have to understand personal responsibility! Tradition has it that if you break something, you pay for it. I can't just take the fall, even if I wanted to."

Silversmith: "I didn't break it! It was Cortez!"

Silversmith Sr.: "And if somebody left their tyranitar unattended and it demolished a building, who's gonna pay for it? The tyranitar?"

Silversmith: "...I'm out of money."

Silversmith Sr.: "Who's problem is that? I'll simply withhold your allowance until it's added up to $300. I suggest you get a job to make it go faster."

Silversmith: "...Fuck."

Silversmith Sr.: "Thank you for telling me, Jackson. This is for your own good. When I was your age—"

Silversmith Sr. devolved into a quite boring story of how he had broken his father's bike. Nobody listened. At it's lengthy conclusion, Silversmith glared at Cortez.

Silversmith: "You've brought me nothing but pain and trouble. You dragged me to Ersatz, you stun spored me, you were worthless at the Necrozma fight, you plotted with Mischief against me, and now this. I've got half a mind to release you."

Silversmith Sr.: "Hold on! This isn't his—"

Silversmith stormed to his room and slammed the door. The accusations and threat stung Cortez to the core. Armando floated in shocked silence. Cortez felt tears well up, but he tried to pretend that he was completely fine. He hopped outside.

Armando, shouting: <And you call ME the douche!>

Silversmith ignored. He opened a drawer in his room. Inside was a small, cheap safe with a key lock. He opened it and removed the $50 he had stashed for emergencies, replacing it with his newly acquired scarf. He buried the small lockbox deep within the drawer. He was already regretting what he had said to Cortez, but had had enough for today. He locked the door to his room and sat on his bed.

Silversmith Sr. to Shadow: "...I'm sorry you had to see that."

Armando: <Seconded.>

Channah: -smiling openly now- Hah, I guess you're right. -hugs- Take care of yourself with that stuff, though. You know I'd do anything for you, but dream exorcism isn't exactly one of my talents.

Silversmith's House

Shadow looked at everyone, threw his hands up and walked out of the room. He had to figure out where Mischief vanished to.

Shadow: For the love of... No, I'm not even going to ask what's going on. I need to find Mischief. She ran away when things got loud. She always does, and if she disguised herself we'll never see her before dinner, but I'd rather find her first. Hell, we won't find her until she manages to relax. I remember one time she disappeared for a whole week before showing her face... Arceus, she lost weight that time.

Mischief had hidden away in the best hiding spot she could find, disguising as a completely mundane item in the back of a closet. She shivered uncontrollably, scared senseless. She heard Shadow calling for her, but didn't listen. Not that she'd show herself right now anyway. Even if someone found her she'd yelp and run, unless Shadow managed to find her first.

Scorch joined the search, wanting to find the Zorua. His mewing voice called to no more effect than Shadow's. Finally, Shadow sat down, having looked everywhere.

Shadow: It's no use. If she doesn't want to be found, she won't be.

Armando: <I'll look around. I know the place better than you.>

Armando utilized his ghost typing to efficiently sweep the house, even flying through the closet containing Mischief. However, he didn't live with a zorua, and so didn't suspect the mundane objects in it. He was sure to pop into Silversmith's room and shoot him a glare every so often. About the third time he did this, Silversmith picked up Armando's pokeball and pointed at it. His point was made. Silversmith Senior knocked at his door.

Silversmith: "Father, I respectfully request that you leave me be."

Silversmith Sr.: "But—"

Silversmith: "I would pay another $300 for just one day of peace!"

Silversmith Sr.: "Really?"

Silversmith: "No! Please go away!"

Silversmith Sr.: "We're not done with this."

Silversmith Senior gave up and walked back.

Silversmith Sr.: "Well, Shadow, it's not quite dinner time, but perhaps some lunch would help to lure Mischief out? I can't exactly let a zorua roam free in my household."

-The space has walls that look like the tunnels. But unlike the tube-like tunnels, the space is rectangular; with walls, a ceiling, and a floor.-

-At the far end of the tunnel stands a tall man wearing casual clothes, glaring at the group with familiar bright-yellow eyes.-

Shadow thought a moment.

Shadow: Food would normally help, but it might not work. And she could end up swiping some without letting us notice her, she's a master at disguising herself. She could be disguised as literally anyone or anything... The only chance is if she tried a living form, since we know who's here and she's terrible at mimicking voices. Her silence would be a dead giveaway. Buuuuuut we might as well try. Food, at the very least, increases the odds of finding her.

Mischief shifted slightly, subtly shifting the clothes about to peer at the proceeds. Food intrigued her just enough to look outside.

Silversmith Sr.: "Very well. I don't actually have a lunch prepared today, had some calls to make this morning, but I'll go get something. Hey Jackson! Want any lunch?"

No answer.

Silversmith Sr.: "Guess we'll starve him out."

Armando: <No good. He's got that pokescarf. I know from experience that— HAHAHA! I almost got through that with a straight face! His belly will see him out shortly. ...Anyways, I didn't see Mischief anywhere.>

Silversmith Sr.: "Shadow, what's he—"

A loud thudding noise was heard from outside.

Armando: <...I'll go check what that is.>

Silversmith Sr.: "Hmm. Shadow, are you a fan of sandwiches? And how about lemon meringue pie?"

Silversmith's House

Shadow shrugged.

Shadow: Sounds good to me. I like sandwiches.

However, all the talk of food lured Mischief out, right into the kitchen, where Silversmith Sr would likely spot her nosing about in the fridge, disguised as a Fennekin. Pie... She usually only had sweets, but pie worked for her... As did proteins and grains, her two second favorites. By the time Silversmith Sr arrived he'd find half of those groups completely devoured, with Mischief visibly to blame despite her disguise.

Silversmith Sr. in front of fridge: "Crud. Shadow, do you have a fenniken?"

Outside Silversmith residence

Armando found Cortez hitting his head against the wall.

Armando: <What are you doing?!>

Cortez: <Jackson HATES me!>

Armando: <What the— No he doesn't!>

Cortez: <Yes he does! Didn't you hear him? I've brought him nothing but pain and trouble! That's exactly what he said!>

Armando: <He's pissed, exhausted, and hungry. And you did just burn $300 of his. What did you expect?>

Cortez continued to headbutt the wall.

Cortez: <And now he's gonna release me!>

He devolved into indecipherable sobs.

Armando: <...I give up.>

Armando floated into Silversmith's room.

Armando: <You've got some serious—>

Silversmith withdrew Armando.
