Dresden Files, a series about a Chicago-based privat eye who also happens to be a wizard and his adventures, battling vampires of various kinds, faeries, less benign wizards and other beasties. Also, he once rode a polka-powered zombie T-Rex through Chicago in a blackout to stop a Dark God from gaining power, but this RPG will not be about him.

So yes, I'm thinking, why not do a Dresden Files RPG in the Dresden Files RPG system, either here in the forum or on IRC, Vent or Skype is also an option. I'm thinking a schedule of sort might be a good idea, to minimize the time zone problems there might be. Some knowledge of the Dresden universe is a plus, but let's be honest, if you have the book, you probably know enough.

When it comes to city creation and such, I'm thinking we'll try it the way the book suggests, e.g with the players and the DM cooperating to flesh out the details of the city the game will be set in. I have some ideas, but I'm open to suggestions. If people want to leave the planning to the DM, well, I guess that's ok too, but you get what you pay for evil grin

So, anyone up for this? Regardless of which town we end up playing in, I promise shenanigans, action and occasional showers of horror.

I can offer you guys a room on our Ventrilo server if you decide to go that route.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

Sweet! Now for some players... hmm.

I'd be interested, although I don't have the rules for the game. I'm a huge fan of the series, though. If we pick an IRL city, I vote for Seattle.

I'm interested, and I have been meaning to read the books (they're sitting there looking mournfully at me). But I don't think I'd be able to do more than once a week.

You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My Tumblr

Once per week sounds just about right to me, and yeah, the FATE system is fairly simple, so it should be possible to teach it to people sans books  *

I'll probably want four players, maybe five, but I can also go with three, as long as we manage to keep the schedule stable.

I'd be still be interested in running one of these games, but as you can see, finding people who owns the game and wants to play is somewhat of a challenge.

I'd be interested if not for my lack of FATE ownership...

I have the source books if you want a copy. I'll need a lot of help working on the character sheet for the dragon emissary I mentioned in the other thread as I don't have any actual experience with the FATE system.

IRC works better for me than PBP does

I've never played a game of FATE before, but I have read the Dresden books and I've made several characters by myself in boredom (sans phase aspects of course) so I'd be interested in this.

Also, I vote IRC and I think we should make our own city, if no on else likes that I back heartsinger on making it Seattle.

I was thinking of doing something with Rune-magic for my character and was wondering how that would be done, nvm mind it's sponsored magic. would it be possible to make being a Dragon's emissary just a job with really good perks like Valkyries?.

I actually really want to play a Battle Butler to another character, does anyone want to take me up on this offer?

A butler, someone with intense loyalty towards his employer who can fight, be eloquent, knows the right people for the right things, maybe there's some sort of family bond connecting the two of them? One family that's been serving another one or something like that?

Maybe part of the same organization of butlers? Or something of that persuasion?

I'm probably going to be a pure mortal, maybe a minor talent if I think up some suitable flair to go with it, and you?

If not the dragon emissary, I guess I'd go with a minor talent as well or focused practitioner, either specializing in precision magic or if it's possible coming "naturally hardwired" for combat like the White court vamps do, possibly by some sort of Intellectus.

Is Slowzombie paying attention to this thread still? I'd hate to see another Dresden files game die due to lack of interest.

I'm still here. Watching. Always watching. *Creepyface*

No, but seriously, yeah, I thought this thing was dead in the water, but with two people at least, that's a start. Also, I might have to arrange for some shenanigans to help those interested who doesn't have the books.

So, does anyone have some friends who'd be wiling to IRC a game of Dresden Files, and where would someone go to find people who'd play a game?
