The plaque is kinda hard to read.

Maybe if we go the classical route: a Greek/Roman play with one of the gods descending from on high to resolve the plot.

I have a message from another time...

It's not really clear how it's a Deus Ex Machina. We just have to take the plaque's word for it.

Yeah; it's a chest full of money that appears out of nowhere. The fact that it's labeled "Deus Ex Machina" speaks for itself.

Meh. I'm remarkably on the fence on that one. The plaque makes sense as a lampshade hanging only if you've seen the work.

Lol, I actually like the idea of that pic with the caption. It honestly made me giggle.[lol]

That's... not really a great example. Seems like "Just A Case Of Money And A Caption". The same effect could be achieved by putting the plaque on a Ship, Weapon or even something as mundane as a horse.

I'd almost suggest using the original God From The Machine device where the term originated from, but since the "Deus ex Machina" has been so over used I'm not sure if the original meaning would really be grasped.

I say imageless. Plot Devices are not always picturable.

[up]No, I think the actual "God from the M Achine" picture is great! I'd always known that was the origin of the name, but never saw a depiction of it.

I like the diagram even better than the color picture. For one thing, it is much clearer that the guy hanging from it isn't simply J Random Dude being mistreated.

I kinda like the idea of Mattonomy's for God From the Machine. It gives a bonus Viewers Are Geniuses idea kinda feel too! grin

Personally I love both ideas. They still have that "Viewers Are Geniuses" Vibe...I'm a bit more partial to the first-but that's my opinion.
