And according to the trailer at Magfest, he sounds almost identical to the way he sounded in Sat AM, just much older.

So... uh... it came out.
I feel so sorry for everyone involved.
http://www.longcriercat.deviantart.com I'm thirsty. Got any ink? Resident Pen Ward antagonist. This film adaptation is relying too heavily on Sat AM for my tastes. Only the comics use "Mobius" anymore. Eggman's name is "Ivo Robotnik", not "Julian Kintobor". Jaleel White's Sonic voice is far too grating for me to take seriously these days.
I haven't watched the film, admittedly, but it sounds like he's trying to shoehorn elements from that dated material in with material cribbed from the Japanese game manuals, like South Island, and the Adventure games, like Station Square or G.U.N., and it doesn't jive well with me.
EDIT: Er, I should elaborate: this is assuming the write-up on WebVideo.Sonic is accurate. (Also, we have Film.Sonic for the exact same film; somebody should do a merge.)

Moon◊Copying and pasting my post from the General Sonic the Hedgehog Thread in the Video Games subforum:
It was just okay, in all honesty. Nothing horrible, but not exactly...good. (Also, what was up with the one racist G.U.N. soldier? That seemed totally out of nowhere and pointless.)
EDIT: Brain Scratch Commentaries made their own commentary on the film
. I agree with much of what they said.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. After watching the movie, there are 4 things I like to say:
1) Holly Cow, it has the Nostalgia Critic as a no-line, random soldier!
2) Holly Crap, it has Egoraptor as a Robot!
3) Jaleel White can still do the Sonic voice pretty well, although there clearly is sign of his being older.
4) Sonic is freakin' Scary looking!
All in all, it was actually a pretty good film, but I feel like it didn't have enough Sonic in it. If only Captain Lou Albano was still alive, then this guy could make a good Mario Movie... Meh, I guess he can settle with Charles Boon (Or whoever did Mario 3/Mario World cartoon).

To be honest, I hate it. I thought it was pretty boring.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I hope the higher ups on Derpibooru will want to show this at Ponibooru Movie Night

"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses..." - Flower Knight DakiniFeaturing Doug Walker and Brental Floss but giving actual lines to neither seems like it was a grave error, seeing as how the two of them are far, far better actors than anyone with a speaking part in the film.
Speaking as a relative outsider to the Sonic franchise, I thought the film was a decent idea executed fairly well, but the Blue Blur himself needs a lot of work if he's to properly integrate with the rest of the world, both visually and in terms of tone.
"And every life is a special story of its own." —The Stargazer, Mass Effect 3I feel like a live-action Sonic movie couldn't work unless it was parody, otherwise it'd be like The Smurfs/Chipmunks/Yogi Bear movie all over again.
On the other hand, my idea includes a guy in a bad Sonic costume who thinks he IS Sonic. Kinda like a longer version of that one Mega64 video:

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The fanfilm is pretty much why I can't take Sonic seriously. The direction of the franchise since Sat AM has been like watching what would happen if we actually saw Poochie go on serious business adventures to save that home planet that needed him. A Totally Radical character just doesn't work in a serious setting, it's better to keep a goofy tone with him instead. That's why Sonic Colors and the old Adventures of Sonic cartoon were good.

Eh, while I can agree with the notion that games like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) took it way too far (and executed it horribly, at that), I'm certainly not one to dismiss the idea of a Sonic work having a serious tone to it.
Every time this film said "The Blue Blur" I groaned, mainly because it reminds me too much of "The Red-Blue Blur" from Smallville. Between those two and "The Hood" from Arrow, and I can't help but notice a trend towards "Comic Book Movies Only Use The Stupid Codenames We Make Up Ourselves."
The special effects actually look pretty decent, with the exception of Sonic himself, who looks absolutely horrifying, even when compared to the robots (and Knuckles at the end). The problem is that for some ungodly reason they decided to try to animate as many individual quills on Sonic's body as possible, which alone kicks him straight into the Uncanny Valley. Just replace it with "blocks" of "hair" like in the games and it would fix it (or at least make it easier on the eyes).
I also agree with Mycroft: keeping Brental Floss and Doug Walker to non-speaking cameos should be a cardinal sin. Waste of talent that could've definitely helped notch the quality up a bit.
Overall the film is nothing spectacular. The actor who played Eggman was great (and kinda reminded me of Don La Fointaine), and it's amazing that Jaleel White's still got it after all these years, but other than the other performances range from forgettable to cringe-inducing. It also takes itself way too seriously, which could possibly be from their attempt to use Sat AM as their main basis (speaking of which, Julian Kintobor? Really?).
On that point, I want to also say that I agree with Komodin as well. The biggest problem that both Colors and Generations had was that they didn't take themselves seriously at all, and as a result they had little to no substance to them. I always liked the Adventure games because it felt like they hit a decent balance: they were serious stories, but they weren't grimdark or wallowing in angst.

Sonic The Hedgehog. No, really.
