Then don't pretend you're killing them off in the first place.
Cheap resurrections also make things toothless.
Look, maybe it works for you, but at this point I think I care less now for the stories in Tekken and Street Fighter than I did before.
It's kind of funny, one of Tekken's most successful instalments replaced most of the cast, and was actually lauded for taking such a courageous step to move the story forward.
Although they've undone all of that by now.
Eh. The story serves the games, not the other way around. Ultimately, the fighting part is what matters and everyone wants their favorite.
The only exception I can think of is Guilty Gear. Kliff and Justice are still dead. Even when Justice "came back," it was in a way that was far from playable. Although Justice might be returning in a fashion with one of the new characters showing suspicious parallels.
Not exactly? The only SF game set before 2 is Alpha, and Alpha's plot eventually ended up being more or less a retelling-of-the-basic-story-that's-technically-a-separate-story.
It's less that Alpha avoids Bison's defeat as much it kind of shunts II's story a ways to the side. The game that it took several games for them to move the timeline past was SF 3.

Maybe the best thing to do is reboot the settings every so often like MK is doing.
Then you still can do storylines where the stakes are not hampered by resurrections, but you also can bring characters back every so often.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.Whelp. I didn't have Project Justice or Power Stone in my (nonexistent) bingo card.
Here's hoping the social media lurkers who have been begging for more Rival Schools and Power Stone are ready to put their money where their mouths are!
(Actually wait, this has the second Rival Schools game, but not the first one? What's up with that?)
Project Justice and Plasma Sword are both Dreamcast games which the rest of this collection is running on, whereas Rival Schools and Star Gladiator were Playstation games. I'm assuming they wanted to use the same engine for these games for simplicity's sake.

Never thought I'd see Power Stone 1 and 2 in a collection.
Then again, I never thought I'd see Project Justice (but just Project Justice) in a collection either.
Interesting timing, considering we got Akira in SF 5 a few years back.
Hmm....
One Strip! One Strip!I’m a bit conflicted on CFE being in this collection.
On one hand, it’s nice that there’s a modern way to play for the purpose of preservation. On the other hand, were people really clamoring for a re-release?
Get taxed. Idiot.![]()
People think it’s the fairly explicit Jo Jo reference in one of them that’s being removed for legal reasons.
It’s the game equivalent of filler to pad out the collection.

Aren't both of Rose's transformations just Jojo characters?
Regular is Lisa Lisa and the rare one is Enya.
Get taxed. Idiot.THE RETURN OF CVS 2.
Also, I only ever got the chance to play Power Stone exactly once growing up, and I was fascinating by what I got to experience. It'll be fun to finally be able to play it again.
Next year, anyways...
I don't know who was clamouring for a rerelease but I'm down for legal access to old games. No matter how you look at it, there's filler; a method for AAA companies to increase the price. Hopefully, it all seems to work well and justify its inclusion.
