I'm going to work my ass off next week to have my final paper done by Tuesday. I don't trust myself.
It'll be like, "Hi Dark Souls! Nice to have you in my hands. [Timewarp] HOLY SHIT IT'S SUNDAY."
I wonder if you'll be able to summon and invade even in areas where the boss has been defeated. I hope you can, with it being open-world and all.
And it's still eight days away for me here in the UK :( Plus the site I buy from used to be good for getting stuff to me on time, but it's been a little lax recently, so I may not get it until the day after release. I'll feel better about them if they successfully deliver the HD Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus package to me tomorrow :P

I think I know the covenant you're talking about and that's not exactly it: If you're with the path of the cat (or whatever the forest convenant is called) you can be summoned when someone from another convenant enter the forest. We can be Forest Spirit now!

Oooooh, nice. Wait, it's a she ? O_o
Also, for anyone interested, IGN live stream of their 24 hours marathon here.
Spoiler at your own risk.
4 days before I decide to play this offline because of non-stop invasion.
Who's an angry moth? You are! Yes you are! You're the fuzziest and angriest moth! Original pic. Here's a GiantBomb quick look.
So, there are factions you can join? Nito, the witch, and the King? What about the "pygmy", the last of the Lords? Is that one available? Or the "scaleless dragon"? If you join one faction, minions of that faction stop attacking you?
Each faction are called "convenants". If you reach certain requirements (ex.: Low enough humanity.) you can join one, doing so will bring some advantages (ex.: more healing flask), but I don't think enemies from a particular faction stop attacking you. There are 9 faction in total that you can join I think, and yes that includes Nito, the Witch and the King.
As for the Pygmy's faction, huge spoiler, read at your own risk:
YOU are the Pygmy. If you chose the appropriate gift at the beginning of the game (the pendant), you'll remember that you are the Pygmy (apparently, you forgot during an adventure or something) and you'll start your own faction. However, only NP Cs will join and not player. The advantage of making your own faction is not yet known.
No idea if you can join Seath the Scaleless dragon.
More info on the wikia. But be wary, for there be spoilers there.
Oh and one last fun fact: If you break your allegiance with a faction (ex.: by attacking the boss of the faction), your name will be put in the "Book of Guilty." A book that other players online can read. And they can decide to invade you to make you pay. Fun time.

Who's an angry moth? You are! Yes you are! You're the fuzziest and angriest moth! Original pic.Aside from the stuff like the Furtive Pygmy spoiler, that is, so far. It has to have a plot, but the developers are most likely mum about it. At least that's my theory. I mean, in that video with the three guys playing it it looked like your character was destined to save humanity's flame from going out, or something.

Five more days...Though considering how long it's taking for Solatorobo to get to my house I'll probably get it Friday afternoon or something. Perfect timing, since due to school I'm only able to play video games over the weekend.
