There are a ton of song tropes, the Villain Song, the I Want Song, even a trope for BSOD Songs, But there is a song as yet unaddressed. The idea came to me while watching the first song from the family guy episode "Road to the North Pole" entitled "Christmas Time Is Killing Us" (Viewable here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD-C8KZO5fw ). I realized this is a class of song yet untroped, The Misery Song. This isn't a song representing simple dissatisfaction (like an I Want Song) Or a sudden snap leading to emotional overload (such as a BSOD Song) or even a song representing the slow loss of happiness and clarity (which would be a Sanity Slippage Song), This song expresses souls crushing, absolute misery built up over time until it seems there is no escape. Often this song includes another character trying to bring a more optimistic view to the table, only for such silly idealism to be refuted every time.

If anyone here can think of a good reason this should not be troped, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

You should take new trope suggestions to You Know That Thing Where.

You'll get the feedback you're looking for there.

Everything can be found on the Internet... except common sense.
