Can't say I have much inclination to buy it, since I've already bought and downloaded all the DLC I wanted months ago, when it first came out. If I want anything new, there's still plenty up for grabs.
Smart of me to wait until after I've done all the City Takeover gameplay to attempt that "taunt 50 gang members" challenge.
Picked it up from the THQ Humble Bundle. I'm currently stuck at the end of The Belgian Problem. The ball starts dropping, I get the character yelling for someone to get off, then it cuts to where I have to get my footing and shoot the Brute off the ball. I get a chance to fire one bullet before he punches me off. Looking around the forums, this apparently happens when your system meets the minimum specs of the game only. In an effort to accomodate, it skips cutscenes... including the one where your character gets settled enough to be able to shoot the Brute in the face before he knocks you off. It looks like I may need to get a better computer before I can proceed.
Got hundred percent completion in campaign mode yesterday. I have one gang operation still to break up - mainly because I can't find the damned thing. The vehicle theft missions I still have to finish number a grand total of two. One a speed boat theft that is so bugged I think it is deliberately broken, the other a helicopter snatch that is also rather tricky. Did all the Professor Genki SERC arenas, Snatch and Guardian Angel missions.
Why the fuck are calls to the Mayor, Police Favor, Gang Favour and Vehicle Delivery more often than not "Busy"? And why can't I execute the incompetent bastards? Surely if they are bribable, they should stay bribed?
lower the games settings as low as you possibly can.
if you're lucky, it will let you get past.
I'm already at the lowest. I probably need to upgrade my computer. It's about 5 years old now, and wasn't built to be a peak gaming system back then.
I think the phone services are on timers, so you can only use them something like once every in game day. Also, I think you can't make calls during missions.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterFinally got 100 percent completion. All hidden collectibles, all gang operations, all vehicle thefts, all city takeovers, all properties bought, every gang thrashed to a pulp, all survival missions done.
Not sure if worth buying the DLC for extra story missions.
Are the servers dead? Can never connect to anything via Steam Matchmaking.
DumboI let the gangs live, for more variety in shootywizzbang fun.
I find the Gang Operations missions to be more trouble than they are worth. It took me hours to find where the last Decker one was hidden. I didn't think that they would be stupid enough to do deals in the shadow of the massive purple-painted and tiled recently refurbished nuclear power plant on the extreme north west of the map, so I ended up looking everywhere else.
Oops.
I Got a $50 PSN card decided to buy this, Turned on my PS 3, went to PS store: Bought Sly Cooper 1 HD , Sonic Adenture 2 battle HD, Rayman Origins, and Jet Set Radio HD instead... I'm weak

I drink 17 cups of coffee in court.THQ is declaring Chapter 11. No news on how this will affect the servers.
I got past The Belgian Problem through a combination of tricking my computer to accept an even lower resolution and, I think, a mod I made to bypass that section of the level. Having a fun time!
wait a second... Will this affect Saints Row 4?
I drink 17 cups of coffee in court.THQ's studios are supposedly continuing operation as normal during the sale of their assets. No planned lay offs, but I also don't see their top talent sticking around.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterI have just had my first crash in Saints Row the Third. Since I have been playing it for over a hundred hours, and this was the only one so far, I am shocked as to how reliable the game engine actually must be for that to be the case.
Finished all the DLC now. The new vehicles added on really suck though. Can't be modded so the bog standard things like the Mini clones I have parked in my garage are more robust and have reinforced frames and bumpers and can actually cope with my psychotic driving style and are thus better.
that is pretty amazing, actually
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterThe third Saints Row game is pretty good. The only Anticlimax was that you don't fight Loren at the end of the first act.
I thought Loren was handled hilariously.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterYah, him still having a city square named after him, post-mortem, was a bit odd as well.
I've had at least two, if not more before reaching "The Belgian Problem". Never crashed on my Xbox, so that must be something to do with the unreliability of SSD, since I had it happenn to Red Faction: Armageddon too.
Curse the ill fortune that led you to me.I got mine long after every story mission and most other side quests had been battered into submission. For me, this is the most reliable game I have played in a long while when it comes to crashes. It may not be the most subtle or restrained title out there but it is paradoxically one of the most stable.
Saints row 2 seems to be the worst in chrashes for me on ps3. It usually crashes at start or after completing a mission.
