This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Supposedly Norman is actually part of the Tiger totem.
Yeah it's bullshit.
Sure the other Marvel corners have magic but making Mephisto such an integral part of Spidey lore was a mistake.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
No he isn't. He tries to gain some magic powers through some monks that would have had him become a tiger totem, but he rejects it because the training would require him to abandon the goblin side of him.

Not sure if it's changed but the original JSM run started out by saying that Peter's animal-themed villains are false totems/"pretenders"
Basically, they dress the part, but that's it.

It's implied by that story had he embraced his furry Tiger side he would be part of the Tiger Totem yeah.
Weirdly, Doc Ock and Venom aren't part of the Spider-Totems, even if Dock Ock was in Peter's body and then had a body with spider-powers.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
Now I'm just imagining Norman going through with it, and the next time he shows up to fight Spider-Man, he's just in a fursuit. "You may have been a match for the Green Goblin, but can you defeat... my OC tiger fursona?"

So they ended up finishing the Gwen Stacy miniseries. It was pretty good, and it tied a few loose ends together.
Crime Master actually found out Osborn was the Goblin thanks to Fisk, and the Jameson stunt we saw in Untold Tales made him more eager to betray Norman. The reason Kingpin was allowed to take over the gangs also was because of a deal he made with Norman, which is why Goblin stopped caring about being a Crime Boss after a few issues.
It takes care to focus on a lot of the silver age stuff from the old days. Fredwick Foswell is even a main character.
I always thought Arachnophobia was a good independent superhero name for Kaine. He doesn't even have to change his Scarlet Spider costume or anything, just rebrand (and have people ignore him as always).
And, to my knowledge, the only thing with that name in Marvel is some weird fusion toyline, but otherwise no actual character uses it.
The original, from ASM 26 and 27.
I thought it was pretty good, but frankly it didn't get interested for me until Gwen's BF's dad was implicated. Everything up to that point was a bit... eh. I don't really think making Gwen the teen detective makes her more interesting, and it comes off a little silly with her father sharing case details with her and such.
He was smart enough to skip Spencer’s stuff and the Beyond stuff
Kaine is probably the smartest spider
Forever liveblogging the Avengersaracely was a goddess or something. she did show up in champions a few runs ago helping them out when the team was literally every teen hero. but hopefully she and kaine are relaxing on a mexican beach along with miguel and his wife and kid. just glad they avoided all the current spider bs
although kaine should really be in the new spiderverse
Aracely, the girl Kaine saved in the first issue, was connected to the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli. She was its incarnation or avatar or something. This got explored more in the 2014 New Warriors series (where, iirc, she scrapped with the Eternals and maybe Thor), but that series also was cancelled after a year, so who knows?
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]Edge of Spider-Verse spoilers for the week:
At the end of the Ghost Spider story, Gwen gets stung by a wasp, and that's her cliffhanger. In Spidey UK, her power is revealed to be some kind of electro charge that enables her to glide, and in Shathras's story, her motivations for disrupting the great web is out of jealousy of her sister Neith's accomplishments, as the gods all favour her ideas with the Spiders. Annie realizes too late she's walked straight into a trap and Shathra's insect minions attack her and she is tortured and transformed into a 'Nestling' creature. Shathra now commands the pattern weaver
Oh, and in case anyone missed it last month over in X-Men: Infinity Judas Traveller has now made an appearance in full, explaining why he's working with Orchis, mainly a "for the betterment of my own people, they must be stopped" motivation and intent on exploiting the naivety of the younger mutants of Krakoa

I'm not sure how serious to take the last strip in Edge of Spider-Verse because it's 'mini marvels', but...
A variant of the original Spider-UK does still exist out there in the multiverse, but he is also turned against the Spiders by Shathra's wasps, he interrupts a baseball game between variants of Peter, Miles, and Gwen, but the new female Spider-UK arrives and kicks him out of that universe.

-Gold Goblin confirmed to be five issues
-Lost Hunt also five issues (five months of the marriage, woo)
-Ben Reilly focused issue of ASM as a prelude to Dark Web, also includes Queen Goblin and a 'brand new' character

Fair enough, it's just that most of Peter's homegrown threats, the really important and relevant ones to him, are usually in "his lane" ie native to his comic and tinged with that comic book-y science. Yes, he gets involved in magic adventures that are in the rest of the Marvel universe, but Green Goblin and Doc Ock always come at him with stuff like chemistry and cybernetics, not arcane rituals to summon the dark lords to combat him.
I mean probably, I sure as hell haven't read every Spider-Man comic book. Maybe Otto is part of the Octopus Totem and Normal the Goblin Totem, IDK.
