This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I saw one of those books in my high school's library a few years back, should have read it if it is apparently so good.
I'm also looking to get back into the comics, but it seems there is so much to catch up on. Currently looking at the Masterworks and Essentials to see what would be best. Masterworks goes up to #131 and currently seems to get a new volume once yearly, while Essentials goes up to #230 at the moment with a volume to be released later this year going up to #248. The release schedule seems a little worse, though. Are both publications going to continue to cover the Amazing Spider-man chapters? Given that I live in Australia I won't be able to get single issues easily or inexpensively, and these seem the route to go.
Haven't received mine in the mail yet. Sometimes I wonder what the point of having a subscription is if I'm going to get the comics a week later than anyone that gets it in the store.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo far all the Spider-man books are pretty awesome now. Scarlet Spider needs a bit more room to grow, but the first issue was pretty much explaining Kaine to new readers. Amazing and Avenging are really fun right now and I'm looking forward to the big thing planned with the Sinister Six. Another Spider-Girl book/mini would be interesting, but I won't get my hopes up.
Is it just me, or is Marvel putting a lot of faith in ol' Webby?
We have:
Amazing Spider-Man two times a month.
Avenging Spider-Man
Venom
Future Foundation
Avengers
New Avengers
Secret Avengers (Venom)
And Venom's little adventure with X-23, Red Hulk and Ghost Rider will probably end up with a spin off book of its own.
And that's not to mention Adjectiveless Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man as well as the Panini Spider-Man book.
Also, I just read Amazing #678 and utterly loved it! Spider-Man AND time travel?!
I really don't think we can count Venom as faith in the webhead, even though he's a fantastic book. But if they are, it's a safe bet. All those books are FANTASTIC mostly because of the webhead's charisma and Venom's sheer darkness.

He's uh...he's trying.
Well a lot of people thought Spidey had taken a dive in quality for a while, but around the time of Spider-lsnad people took notice of his quality picking back up. Also Avenging is by Zeb Wells, and errybody love Zeb Wells!
“My body is ready. I’m gonna take your names, take your ass, and then we’ll be making games”. - Reggie Fils-Aime, CEO of Nintendo AmericaReally I think a big part of Spider-man picking up in quality was switching to one author for the book. Bits of the Brand New Day era were good, but they were leveled out by mediocre, bad and dumb things along the way. I think the 600th issue and some of the Gauntlet arcs(Rhino, Lizard and Juggernaut ones at least) and the Grim Hunt were when quality started to peak back up again.
Personally I like the way Marvel is headed with some more Spider-man books and that Regenisis has given the X-books a needed kick in the pants for a change of pace. Kinda irked that outside of Avengers Academy none of the Avengers books have been good for a while and that Iron Man, Thor and Captain America seem kinda stagnant at the moment.
Say what you will about OMD, but by and large the stories that came out of it have been the best Spider-Man has been in years, if not decades; I'm still in the process of catching up on everything in trades while I've jumped onto Amazing and Avenging in the wake of Spider-Island. Agreed on the X-books too, especially Uncanny (Gillen can do no wrong) and Wolvie and the Sniktbubs. Also, apparently the Venom mini-event coming down the pike will stay in his book without any tie-ins, thankfully.

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Oh, I received the latest issue of amazing. Even considering that Peter just went through a nasty break-up and then a tense working together with his ex immediately after, he's being a little douchey.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn the first couple pages he gets angsty after seeing a bunch of happy couples and wishes that Doc Ock would show up presumably so that he could beat him up. He then stops a crook and then makes fun of him for not really fighting back. The dude asks Spider-Man to tell his wife that he loves her and Spider-Man just says no. And then Black Cat shows up and Spider-Man instantly begins hitting on her. Later on he goes to Daredevil for some help, finds Daredevil in his civilian clothes and calls him Daredevil anyway (granted there was some confusion about whether or not MM had been publicly outed as Daredevil or not). He then spends the rest of the issue getting pissy at Daredevil for various things.
So all in all just a little bit douchey.
Forever liveblogging the Avengersoh yeah I can see that. But hey, dude just broke up with his gal, it makes sense he'd be a little bitter, and that's just how he blows off steam. He's good enough at it that people don't usually get hurt except for him and the villain. Black Cat was his ex and seemed more then eager enough to be with him whenever he was single before, and no one likes being lonely. Also, Matt's not fooling anyone. And with the way Daredevil #8 ends, his pissy-ness is a little understandable.

Can't even blame the writer for the spy bit, he was just working with the continuity. But yeah, the books are a really good read.
