This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Any therapist would tell him that's not healthy but this is comics.
It's a shame, because I've been really enjoying Harry as a secondary protagonist, and I've always related to him more than Peter.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The Maker was honestly really easy on Peter, all things considered.
I wonder if we’ll ever get an explanation for some of this arbitrariness. He kills off or arranges to be killed Black Bolt and Namor. With Peter he just prevents his origin. The Fantastic Four’s deaths he engineers, except Reed who he tortures. Hank’s origin is prevented by giving him brain damage! Wakanda is largely left alone. Magneto and Xavier and Legion are killed.
The doylistic answer is that it’s like this so writers can write the books that were approved for the new ultimate universe. But what weird machination is the Maker pulling with this?

Especially with the reveal that Peter was at the very top of the Origin Box list. When he's that important to Stark's plan, you'd think the Maker would view him as equally dangerous.
As for Venom, Miles uses that name for the pico-tech suit in his crossover mini, and the suit kinda likes it. So...

The Maker probably goes easy on Pete because he could relate. Ultimate Reed was a bullied child who struggled to get his genius recognized iirc. As unable of empathy as he is if he still has any Peter's more likely to get it than someone like Magneto.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.I was under the impression New Ultimate Universe wasn't his first shot at running his own world, and that all his previous attempts were failures. I know these are not good answers, but I assume that it's someone between "that didn't work last time" and "let's try to do something different just for novelty's sake".
Granted, New Ultimate Universe is still a failure from his perspective.

Buldogue's lawyerSounds like people whose powers are the result of either genetic abilities or genius-intellect that lets them invent cool shit, those need to die/be lobotomized, because the potential for them to be a threat is inherent to who they are. With Peter, though, you just need to keep the spider bite from happening.
I suspect that the Maker went easy on Peter because 1, Peter is ultimately street level, and the Maker assumes he doesn't need to do anything too cruel since that will inevitably make a Spider-Man who hates him which he doesn't want, and 2, because from the Maker's POV, by taking away the spider and letting Peter live a normal life, he's already gotten rid of Spider-Man because Peter seemingly has no reason or ways to become Spider-Man.
Peter has a loving wife, two kids to look after, a stable job, Uncle Ben is alive, and is powerless, so to the Maker, there's no need to do anything more.
He's cursing Peter with happiness basically. 616 Spider-Man was born through tragedy and irresponsibility, so by removing all that, the Maker seemingly has destroyed Spider-Man.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"![]()
That seems like quite a stretch, given that the Venom suit in Earth-1610 was still fundamentally a biological thing even after the Maker modified it, whereas the Venom picosuit of Earth-6160 appears to be purely technological.

Who would have thought the best way to beat Spider-Man was by giving him the perfect life?

Hell, it’s still showing results with how out of depth this Peter is as Spider-Man. He got his ass kicked twice by SHOCKER and couldn’t chase him to the ends of the Earth.
Plus losing to Kingpin.
Like, this is a 30s something Peter who was softened by his perfect life and doesn’t have the scientific and crime fighting skill honed by years of experience his other selves have.
This man would get killed if the Green Goblin from the main verse wanted him dead.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"But on the other hand, new ultimate Peter always felt like something was missing and ultimately went for becoming spider-man despite having the perfect life and perfect wife and despite not accidentally getting Uncle Ben shot
Spider-Man born from responsibility, not tragedy

Forever liveblogging the AvengersClone Sally has a messed up existence. Being essentially the same person as the original (even a reincarnated soul), but your loved ones only see you as a clone and nothing more.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Someone should advocate for clone rights in the Marvel universe
I thought she made it to adulthood beforehand. She may be a couple of years younger than Peter now, but idk.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!Over in Spider-Man and wolverine Teresa is retconned to not be peters sister and is a kid the chameleon manipulated into thinking she was the daughter of the parkers. They watch the rest of the video on the plane and see that Logan didn't kill the parkers, and Teresa wasn't on the plane and wasn't mentioned as the plane went down but peter, Ben, and may all were.
I figured she wasn't really related to him but that explanation just makes me sad for her and them :(
Also it doesn't really make sense timeline wise...

The Protomen enhanced my life.

Yeah, most probably
I’ve been expecting Harry heel turn ever since he very stupidly specifically requested for his abusive dad to live in his head rent free
