This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Me. Negative is one of the additions that stuck post OMD, but he is also a villain that could have been added without Mephisto buying the marriage.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah, there’s nothing really added to OMD that couldn’t have been added with the marriage intact
I guess aside from all the new girlfriends but does anybody like any of the new relationships?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think that's why I liked Slott's recent run of stories with Bagley, in that he largely ignored all the relationship migranes of Wells' run and you could easily read the book pretending MJ was off in Hollywood while Peter got steady employment with the sinless Norman (an element Slott retained for the run)
I liked two of them, but not in a "oh, she's so good for Peter" kind of way and more in a "ha ha, you suck Peter" kind of way. Namely Michele Gonzales and Cindy Moon. Cindy's development has been for the best though, before that joke could get too old, but I'd be all for Peter and Michele. She might not be good for him, but she's exactly what he deserved for what he did.
Then again, my dislike for Peter for what he did has faded with time. I still dislike it, but at this point it's time to just undo it, or at least address it before he is punished some more for it. He lost his body to Doctor Octopus. Kind of hard to feel like he hasn't been punished enough when he doesn't even know why he deserves it.
Ana Maria was okay I guess too. Maybe Lian Tang, though they kind fall into the "you suck Peter" camp too.
Buldogue's lawyerHonestly Superior could have been slotted in to a prequel type of story set before the marriage in a hypothetical timeline where OMD never happened IRL, like Shadow of the Green Goblin.
Peter-Otto even returns to College and graduates midway.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The MCU killed Thanos off twice, so that universe isn't the reason he's still alive. Rather, it's because he's too popular a villain among comic fans.
As for Doom getting taken down a peg, Scott Lang did that ten years ago
.
Yeah.
She's gonna be in a better situation than Paul is when they're finally done with him.
Like, at least someone cared enough about Carlie to try and do something with her afterwards. Our boy Paul will be lucky if they even bother to toss him in a ditch.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, if you don't give two shits about Carlie, then it could work.
Maybe, it could even allow Paul to become something besides a punching bag and the most hateable guy around.
That way, someone else can take that role.
Good for Ant-Man then, I'll take what I can get.
Anyway, no I didn't care for Carlie. Unless it's a Black Comedy I don't imagine how having the main character commit an atrocity, even one he was duped into in a Moment of Weakness, even though it was more so a full workday of weakness, and then jump straight to "New Love Interest! She's so perfect for him!"
No, an evil bullying lawyer is exactly what Peter Parker deserved. An non consensual commitment to a Womanchild who doesn't actually like him was exactly what Peter Parker deserved. Carlie Cooper was the wrong character at the wrong time. But sure, let her have Paul. That seems about right, ignoring that Paul himself is responsible for some sort of atrocity something if I remember correctly.
Buldogue's lawyerOh yeah, that's right. Not only is Paul alternate universe nonsense that wasn't necessary when all one needed to do was just have Mary Jane get another boyfriend, but he's a war criminal. I legitimately forgot why he's so disliked for a bit there, him being both unlikable and forgettable is an accomplishment!
My Spider-Man head canon is now that The Fantastic Four, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, The X-Men, the plain regular doctors at the hospital and The One Above All could have all saved Aunt May and would have all done so if Peter just asked them to, but he never did. All of them, right down to gunman who shot her, were all illusions created by Mephisto in a bid to take Peter Parker's unborn daughter. His Spider-Sense didn't warn him because Mephisto's initial attack, which he purposefully made slow enough for Peter Parker to dodge, was the only thing that had any chance of actually hurting Peter Parker. We've seen that Peter Parker can be fooled by Mysterio's illusions when they are not directly threatening. Mephisto was using a bootleg Mysterio helmet in fact! He might not have as much theatrical experience, but he's smart enough to create the illusion he isn't wearing an upside down fishbowl on his head!

Even then, Superior is derisively divisive.
"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."
