This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Is that actually his belief, or is that something that Spider-Editorial is forcing him to say?
Yeah, but nobody trusts Zeb Wells. And even if it's true, he's done an awful job of relaying that.

I mean, I know that, but I firmly believe every character should be given the maximum effort, not screwed over because of bad editorial choices.
Like, Peter and MJ aren't real either, but people dislike what's being done to them as well right.
I just don't like seeing characters get hung out to dry.
One Strip! One Strip! They insist that Paul is "likable"...but what exactly is likable about him? Even setting aside the fact that his only reason for existence...is to keep apart the pairing that they *know* that readers want...Paul committed genocide to a future timeline...he mooches off of his supposed girlfriend...he was shown to be anti-mutant etc.

Yeah. They ain't even trying with him.
As long as he's in the way, they don't care about anything else, and the claims that we're misunderstanding him are probably just being said to rile people up.
And like, they're being so transparent about it. They ain't even trying. And I don't like the idea of a character just existing to block something people want. Paul, like any character, should have been a character first. Not an obstacle.
One Strip! One Strip!Paul is a fire fighter, you're supposed to like fire fighters by defau...wait, this is the Spider-Man thread. You mean that Paul?
You noticing a recurring theme yet? Can't just have Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson separate/divorce like regular people for understandable reasons. There has to be demonic dealing time rewinding bullshit. Can't just have Mary Jane find a nice man with similar interests. There has to be some world destroying multiverse bullshit. Mary Jane certainly can't give birth to kids like a woman. She can't even adopt with mumbo jumbo erasing them from existence.
Yes, Mister Cebulski, I have a complaint. The covers of these comic books have "Spider-Man" printed on them but from the content within the pages this is clearly Cosmic Ghost Rider. Can I have a refund?
Buldogue's lawyerI would demand money back and compensation for emotional distress if I were tricked into reading cosmic ghost rider punisher Deadpool
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah. Just toss him in a portal and forget him or something.
I know everyone wants the Catharsis of killing him off horribly, but that's a waste.
I don't care if he dies, or is just forgotten but don't bother with something so elaborate. To be honest, I don't think he's worth the effort.
One Strip! One Strip!Reveal that Paul is a future time looping Fry I mean Peter and then have him explode
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Spider-Editorial doesn't give a shit about consistency, just about keeping Peter unmarried and generally miserable, the way that they think he should be. And since Amazing Spider-Man consistently sells decently well no matter how god-awful it gets, Marvel (and Disney by extension) doesn't have much reason to care about what Spider-Editorial is doing.
Depending on what era of comics you look at the Big 2 have had plenty of gritty realism and character development, but Spider-Man's early years in particular strive to be pretty grounded without being grim. Peter was unable to cash a check due to lacking a bank account in Spider-Man's name, bought a crummy Spider-Man costume from a store, which gradually shrank in the water and during battles, and he had to sew his costume himself, as he couldn't go elsewhere for repairs. He was also a loner and friendless compared to other heroes of the time and only really gained a supportive supporting cast once he graduated high school, but despite it all he persevered.
For long-term development both DC and Marvel have had some gems, but Spidey stands out as being very consistently solid from the 60s on up until the mid-90s or so, and even then it bounced back after a bad period until One More Day happened.

The Protomen enhanced my life. When a work crows about its gritty realism that usually just means violence and gore for the sake of violence and gore.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI’m not looking for anything gritty, I just find they’re breaking the mold compared to anything from the Big 2. I’ve been reading older comics lately, I wanted a recommendation for a character I grew up with through film and television. With all that said, I do expect something different.

Hasn't Zeb continued to insist that Paul is just "misunderstood" by the fandom or something?
