This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

The problem is that there's really no point in anyone who isn't a BND writer to write it. It's one of the worst kept secrets, that ASM is one of the most heavily editorial controlled books in the business. No one will be allowed to stray from the sacred "young single loser" status quo,so you're severely limited in what you can actually write. If you've seen one "down on his luck, the whole world hates him, can't catch a break" Spider-Man story, you've kinda seen them all. And we've been getting that for a decade and a half now.

At least Joe Kelly's good at humour. And he did create all-time classic character Lady Stilt-Man.
So even if his run is just more wheel-spinning, it could still at least be a fun time, with any luck.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.
I know I was apprehensive about it on Discord, but come to think of it, wasn't there speculation/rumors
that a writer that Marvel had locked for ASM needed to finish a previous run before committing to ASM?
The original rumor was that it'd be a bridging run with guest writers like Beyond, but what if this Joe Kelly run is that bridging run? To really dial things back to normal because Wells can't or won't do it? Like how Mark Waid and Chris Samnee did a 5-issue mini for Captain America after Secret Empire rendered Steve more radioactive than the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant?
Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #4. Considering this is likely Peter David's final time writing Spider-Man 2099, I wonder if he's really killing Gabriel like that. The only bit of doubt is President Doom recruiting him to remove Miguel's symbiote. Kron and Miguel doing more "brotherly bonding" in the museum was funny.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I hope Otto erasing his memories of both Peter's ID and Anna Maria doesn't mean we've seen the last of her character, she seems to have had her faith in Otto restored and she believes he's capable of good again
Slott's had his issues, but I have enjoyed his team with Bagley, the books were mainly covers of past hits but they were more engaging than when he told all this the first time, at least to a jaded old cur like me.
I think Slott’s main problem was that he was on Amazing too long.
Usually a longer run is better since a writer can really make a distinct era for the character and build up their supporting cast. But with Spider-Man and the editorial constraints on the character, Slott leaned into some goofy gimmick eras instead. Peter Parker, tech millionaire is the thing you do when you just want to do anything different.
His other problems are procrastination, which is just rude in a group project. Trolling readers because controversy sells. And yelling at the internet.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, Dan Slott's writing and online persona is very loud and shock jockey. Superior Spider-Man 2013 is Dan Slott at his most Dan Slott IMO.
He's not a bigot but he has done some pretty dumb shit when trying to be progressive.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Another voiced/animated page from Spectacular Spider-Men, with Andrew Kishino as Arcade and Josh Keaton as Mentallo and Hammerhead.
Yeah. I have noticed that.
I feel like either that's a choice of the artists to make him as unlikeable as possible, despite editorial refusing to let him go, or that Marvel isn't even trying to hide the fact that he exists solely to keep MJ and Peter apart.
Do we know if anyone working on the book actually likes Paul? Because it seems like there's not much effort to do anything with him, probably due to that transparent role.
One Strip! One Strip!Ok. Marvel, just give up on him.
Don't invent a character to just be an obstacle to someone else.
That's a shitty position to put them in. And every writer and fan is absolutely burying this guy.
Just stop and put him out of his and everyone else's misery.
Even if fans will probably only be satisfied if he's sent to hell and suffers forever. I would just prefer he disappears.
One Strip! One Strip! We may have need of his ship breaking potential though
For example, he could start dating Wolverine
Pros: breaks the stupid love triangle, Wolverine’s love interests tend to die for dramas
Cons: None, this is a perfect idea
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI feel pity for Paul.
Yes, he's a pointless character who sucks and has no other purpose but to get in the way of MJ and Peter...which is kinda why I pity him. He never even had a chance to be anything else. He was always going to be controversial, and he's probably worse than Carlie Cooper (who at least seemed to get better once Marvel pulled her out of that role).
But with Paul, they seem more stubborn than ever about it. Like, it's almost as if they knew he'd be unpopular and want him to be as hated as possible, because they don't care as long as he's firmly in the way of Peter and MJ.
One Strip! One Strip!

I know a lot of established writers won't write on the book, but would it be so bad to get some new blood on here?
Only using the BND crew feels like spinning wheels.
