This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

For the present he is, but lately on Twitter he's been going over all his milestones on Amazing, so fans are speculating he could be stepping down soon.
Netho Diaz teasing more Spidey work to come

Would that be a good or bad thing? They could easily just make Venom a simple Spider-Man villain again.
Although maybe Spidey could finally get over his hatred of Symbiotes and maybe get a new one that he actually accepts.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!So....the latest issues have basically retconned the sins juice as a whole new split personality, and the writing is leaning towards good guy Norman somehow being the real one.
Who else thinks this is a dumbass idea?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"You know what? I do.
I know Spider-Man: The Animated Series made split personality Norman a thing, and the first Raimi Spider-Man film codified it, but Norman aint' a good guy underneath.
The Goblin is Norman openly doing awful shit instead of subtly.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah like okay, there's a bit where Kamela Khan does a bluff the imposter bit on Norman SIN, and we also are shown explicitly that Good Guy Norman still exists despite the Sins being back, and he's fighting back against Norman SIN.
Just wow.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"The whole Goblin-Sins thing has become a completely incoherent trainwreck with how ill-defined and ever-changing they are.
The idea of Good Guy Norman being the real one is especially hilarious because the Nick Spencer run that started all this shit very explicitly showed that Norman was, in fact, kind of a scumbag even before he became Green Goblin, such that Mephisto very easily took advantage of his failing business to manipulate him into selling his child's soul to Hell.
That being said, Good Guy Norman (or at least ''I don't want to be evil anymore but I'm still an awful person Norman) is still a net good.
Less Pumpkin Bombs thrown at people, and less Blondes thrown off bridges.
Sure, it'd work just as well if he died, but that happened already and he just came back.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Spider-Editorial has spent the last several decades hoping everyone just kinda forgot about that and, by extension, the implication in the same story that the baby's death was faked and Norman had actually smuggled her out of the country to do God knows what with.
Friendly reminder for those who don't know; Tom DeFalco wanted the Gathering of the Five to be about Peter and MJ getting the baby who would become Mayday back from Norman and his goons. Editorial insisted we needed to get Aunt May back instead, leading to the infamous "genetic actress" retcon.

Yeah, Norman not being evil and aiding Spider-Man is objectively a net positive since he's being aimed at better moral pursuits.
Plus some of his interactions with the others are hilarious.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"If marvel doesn’t want me to remember then having Norman remember it was the wrong move
Forever liveblogging the AvengersRe: Norman seeling his son's soul- what is Marvel Heaven's take on this then, what if a person is good all through their life and still goes to hell just because their parents sold their soul before birth, that is so messed up.
By the way, if Mephisto can change history why doesn't he change it so Hitler wins the war or something. Is there a need for a contract with someone for him to change history? If so, you'd think some Nazis would have thought of that already. Even if Heaven or Eternity or anyone else doesn't allow that why doesn't he think of a way to undo any of his many defeats.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.Jack Kirby Above All: “Dude, you can’t sell someone else’s soul. Read the fine print.”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAs far as selling someone else's soul, it IS possible in Marvel Universe, it's just a really stupid idea that never works for the seller, with the possible exception of Doctor Doom because Plot Armor.
It is the back story of Ghost Rider #2, half of him, Noble Kale. Kale's father sold his son's soul to Mephisto for protection against The Furies, but when Mephisto came calling Uri-El cut him off and told him it didn't work that way. There was an Rules Lawyer argument between the two, the father wasn't saved in the end, Nobel Kale became a spirit of vengeance that indeed wound up in Mephisto's real in the end...where he killed Mephisto and Blackheart, ruling over his splinter realm benevolently. So in that case it didn't even work out for the buyer, it just took Mephisto 200 years or so to realize what a stupid purchase he made. And then he and his son came back to life because Status Quo Is God, but by rights those two should still be dead and Nobel Kale should still be a good king beating back unholy coup attempts by evil demons who don't want a good king. It's not like Marvel actually wants to use Danny Ketch or anything.
Admittedly, the story where Nobel Kale gets kicked out of hell for being too good of a ruler and can't control his powers on Earth, with Spider-Man helpless to stop him, it was really good. That could have lead to an awesome new Danny Ketch Ghost Rider comic book when Danny bonds with Nobel Kale again to get his powers under control, but as said, Marvel wasn't/isn't all that interested in Danny Ketch.
Buldogue's lawyerWatching the Spectacular Birth of Venom, I got to thinking that a reason why Spectacular features the last great animated Venom is cause he's the last one to actually form that hateful rivalry between Spider-Man and the host
Thinking about it, the reason why Spectacular features the last great animated Venom is cause he's the last one to actually form that hateful rivalry between Spider-Man and the host.
In Ultimate Venom is Harry who isn't really evil or hates Spider-Man, he loses control and gets manipulated by the symbiote.
While in the 2017 cartoon the hosts are deemphasized, its the symbiote in control jumping from various hosts who don't matter because the symbiote is in complete control......... which kinda ruins the whole point of it being a "symbiote". So the 2017 cartoon reduces Venom to just an evil alien, lacking that significant aspect of the human host's all consuming personal vendetta against Peter.
Like in the final season Venom's host is...... Max Modell. At that point the host is completely irrelevant and has no influence on Venom.
