This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Is this a new Rocket Racer or the original one? I thought the latter had stopped being a villain.
The reveal in Ultimate that the Shocker we've seen is actually just some guy who stole the gear from one of Tony's superhero prospects is really interesting for it's implications and possible readings. Like, is the dead guy supposed to be Herman Schultz, implying that Shocker was a hero in 6160 before Maker's meddling? Is he supposed to be somebody else entirely? Lots of questions.
Spider-boy #7 Christina uses the pigeons to call everyone Bailey has teamed up with in his series, the spider-men, cap, thor, squirel girl, the super adaptoy, and they come and fight the humanimals. Bailey gets hit by a thing madame monstrosity is holding and decides to cause the trouble he sees her in, and he breaks free her husband in the owl body and they tell all the others she can't turn people back to human. She turns herself into a mix of every animal she has and human and comes out as a dragon. The fight ends when the high evolutionary tells her he wants to save her and when he does reveals he still thinks her ideas are dumb but she's too good a test subject now
I've been reading Spider-Gwen: Smash on Unlimited so I'm behind but I see the most recent issue to hit the app and I hear the news about the next miniseries.
And it's going to work out that right after Gwen learns MJ is into her that she ditches her entire universe again. Whatever explanations are given, it does make it seem like Gwen up and moved to avoid an awkward situation.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't know that there's a lot of history.
She's the front lady of the Mary Janes band that she and Gwen are in. She's always been low-key very annoyed with Gwen for flaking even when she knows that Gwen is Spider-Gwen. There's been hints that MJ-65 is some degree of sapphic when it was shown that she sleeps (in the same bed) with Glory Grant. During King in Black, MJ got yoinked to Earth 616 and infested with a carnage symbiote and she and Gwen had a battle of the bands about it. In that one Gwen miniseries where Gwen became various different heroes due to a memelord, one of her clues that she had ended up in an alternate universe was that MJ was nice to her. And now in the Smash miniseries, MJ has been even more very annoyed at Gwen and the latest issue I read indicated that it was because she had feelings for Gwen and could only manifest them as aggression.
MJ is always just sort of annoyed with Gwen. Always just sort of trying to make their band a thing despite Gwen ditching gigs to fight supervillains or to go to jail. And somewhat static since not a lot happens on Earth-65.
Gwen is so often doing spiderverse stuff or crossing over with the 616 that MJ doesn't get a lot to do except be unpleasant when Gwen is around.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mean, that's also true.
MJ and the others are pretty loyal to Gwen, despite MJ being a dick about it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGoing back to the previous page: Tracer? Wow. He doesn't show up often. I actually bought the comic he debuted in, a Deathlok Annual in the '90s. He was some rich dude whose father was killed in some brawl between supers, so he got a bunch of engineers to build a powered suit he could use to fight against them so he could beat them up and find out which one was responsible for his father's death.
He did manage to defeat Deathlok. And then he disappeared.
I believe it may have been from the year where all the Annuals introduced new characters, with almost none of them actually staying around.
On Spider-Gwen and MJ: I always got the vibe that MJ was into Spider-Gwen. So it's been confirmed? Any indication if Gwen feels the same? She dated Harry for all of 5 minutes, and she had that shared attraction with Miles, but has she actually dated anyone else?
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. When will she ever defeat Susan and Johnny Storm?
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Apparently Natasha-65 killed them off panel or something and Gwen just never questioned why they weren't a problem anymore.
The dangling plot thread just gets wrapped up in an off-hand comment.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey couldn't have Gwen show off her chops as a hero and have her defeat them and avenge her previous exile?
Lame. Who is supposed to be her arch-enemy at this point? Matt Murdock is still in jail, I don't know what happened to Silk, Peter Lizard is dead, Norman Osborn is regular businessman so he does crimes Gwen can't punch him for, I forgot what happened to Harry despite him being the Green Goblin.
Seriously, can't be a great hero without any villains to defeat. The Storm twins had potential here, sure they were shallow celebrities but they could work as threats, but no, off-camera death.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Satisfying story telling would get in the way of bouncing her back and forth between Earth-616 and Earth-65 with no coherent vision on what to do with the character besides have her fight copies of herself.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHere is the page where Gwen finds out, she was the last to know.
As for whether she feels the same, I think that the Carnage relapse, and now Gwen being forced to go into hiding in 616 due to unknown threats, means that they never really got to talk about it.
It was a different Tracer, another forgotten one-off villain (until now, I guess) with the same name, the self-proclaimed "God of Machines" from The Other.
Ah, I see.
I looked up the Tracer I remembered, on the Wikia. I forgot that he did fight Spider-Man once, in the mid-'90s. Apparently, it was the dude's second and final appearance. I kinda want to say that's a shame, but . . . nah, that'd be a lie, he honestly wasn't a particularly interesting character. I was 8 when he debuted, so my kid brain liked him. But ultimately, there's a reason no one ever bothered with him again.
