This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

She’s not getting her college tuition back just because she’s too young for college now
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSome have suggested that given Sins Past's means of shedding light on Gwen that the general favortism is that back in the Silver Age she was the good girl.
Would never have pre-marital sex at all, whereas MJ seems like the person who would. But you know, it's cool when a guy does so cause?...
And also MJ wanted to be pretty/sexy for her own sake and not just for a man.
Random question: do you think Peter Parker would be justified if he simply gave up being Spider-Man? Been thinking about this since I read Mike Carey's Hellblazer run briefly, which has a very shocking Sudden Downer Ending in which John Constantine straight-up quits after completely failing to prevent a demonic plot to kill everyone who has ever shown him one iota of compassion, culminating in the souls of his kindly sister and mentally ill brother-in-law being dragged off to be tortured for all eternity. Constantine himself survives but he decides, even though he's saved the world multiple times and even the universe more than once, that this officially proves he does more harm than good, so he's out.
And I related this to Spider-Man because he's basically the only comic character the universe craps on even more than Constantine; remember for instance the first issue of the "No One Dies" arc where Peter has a vision in which everyone whose life he's failed to save lines up to insult him? That's very similar to several scenes in Hellblazer, and Peter's Dead Friends Club is actually bigger than Constantine's. Add that to the fact that because this is Marvel, the people Peter saves tend to be complete shitheels that would probably applaud if he was found dead in a dumpster, and yeah, I think Peter has long since crossed the line from "responsibility" to an outright martyr complex that he would do best rid himself of.
Thoughts?

He should get a story where he vows to never quit again
Call it “Spider-Man No More No More”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn universe, I feel like Spiderman is basically stuck in the superhero life right now.
The cynical interpretation revolves around his powers and what happened with uncle Ben. He choose not to use his powers at a critical moments and, because of circumstances he absolutely could not have predicted, he lost uncle Ben. Now, as long as he has his powers, his guilt complex will never let him stop.
The optimistic interpretation is that Peter is naturally the type of person that would try to help people even if he didn't have powers. He's lost his powers a few times in the comics but even when hated and powerless he's still tried to help because he can't stand seeing innocent people suffer.
In universe, the only way I could see Peter retiring given those albatrosses are 1) absolutely everything goes wrong to the point where there is nothing left to fix (i.e. post apocalyptic) 2) Peter finds an excuse/reason to slow down the super heroics (gets a successor, needs to be there for his family, age catches up to him) 3) he permanently loses his powers and finds a way to help that doesn't involve super heroics.

Peter pseudo-retires at the end of the second Insomniac game.
We don't know how much that will stick by the third game, but honestly I think that's the best of both worlds. Peter still fulfills his responsibility of using his power for good, but he also begins to fulfill his responsibility to both himself and his loved ones.
The factor here is that Peter will of course jump when needed but he knows Miles can fill whatever void he leaves. And as far as the comics are concerned, that's especially true as he has Miles, Cindy, now Gwen and more to pass the mantle to. Basically do what his Ultimate counterpart did but without faking his death to his friends and family.
So yeah I think it's perfectly reasonable for Peter to shift towards a more mentoral role.
#IceBearForPresident
This. Osborn also came back a few times due to the Ox formula, and Peter did get it as well.
Although I don't think he deliberately faked his death, but I'm not totally sure either.
Also, here's a video of Peter doing good in the freezing cold.
Of which Gwen is trying to open a bank account because she has no special security, no valid photo identification, no nothing. All she has is literally her name.
Which brings the question why are you doing this Gwen? Like okay we all know why in real life, but what is the in-universe reason for Gwen to want to leave her entire planet behind to go to a world that has none of the friends or family she grew up with?
Plus wait she was enrolled in a college last run, why is lack of identification an issue now?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

It could also just be in character Peter is at the moment hurt over the way things ended between him and MJ this last time and so he is thinking about what would have been easier.
