This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

This feels like some weird publicity stunt to get more rage bait sales.
Or they were legit testing the waters for an MJ and Paul spin-off for some reason because it's entirely possible the people in charge unironically like Paul and want him to be a supporting character to last.
Like, it's been a bit over 2 years at this point, they are THAT committed to making him MJ's boyfriend even though they have no reason to be with each other now that the kids are gone.
Marvel couldn't even finish MJ's own spin off comic, did they really think Jackpot was going to be a thing?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
They're too spineless to even call him MJ's 'boyfriend' or show them doing romantic things, he's just her live-in 'partner' who occasionally does chummy things with her that can be interpreted as platonic. Even their one scene in bed together wasn't romantic.

Over on the ICv2 sales charts
, Ultimate Spider-Man#4 crushed it and took the number one spot, ASM still has a couple of healthy spots in the top ten...but Jackpot/Black Cat and Miles Morales books appear to have slid off the charts entirely.
Lowe's response in the letters pages this week make a lot of sense in context. No doubt the full sales data for Marvel isn't very complimentary for the Jackpot title either...and, worse, it's dragging down Felicia as a more bankable draw.

Thats sad about Cat considering all the work Mc Kay put into giving her some good books.
I suspect a Black Cat book without MJ/Paul would still sell reasonably well.
On a related note, I'm starting to wonder about Paul's status quo at the end of Wells' run. I can't see the next writer wanting to use him - it's not like he's been a presence in non-ASM Spider-Man stories.
Does he leave MJ and leave town? Die heroically? Die ridiculously? Get sent into an indefinite coma? Or will he still be the same old Paul with MJ, right up until the first issue of the next relaunch mentions that he was pecked to death by pigeons...?
(Opening the next series with his funeral would be a bold move)
Shadow of the Green Goblin#2 has some wholesome moments with Flint today, it hints a lot at him contemplating going straight as early as before his capture by the Torch in Strange Tales#155, and it appears this is now retroactively his first meaningful heart-to-heart with Spidey in the main canon.

Wasn’t Flint actually brainwashed back into being a villain? Weird how no one’s tried to help him. He was an Avenger. I mean back when he was that didn’t mean squat and they were basically B-List, but now it should mean a lot.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!The Avengers being b-list is only a thing out of universe. In-universe, they really should have tried to help him if it’s known he was brainwashed, but they’re not always great at knowing that.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJohn Byrne takes a lot of little details and leans hard on them as unimpeachable support for whatever bullshit he wants to write
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

The slots based power is such an anime thing and the whole 'What happens if I get 3 skulls?' both put an obvious "This is only temporary" disclaimer on her powers that it was hard to really get invested.
I mean, everything is temporary in comics but few things are this obvious about it.
