This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Miles has stealth and can make a sword out of electricity (???)
Jessica can glide and smells sexy
Julia Carpenter’s web was psychically made back before she became a boring Madame Webb
Gwen traded her stock spider powers for symbiote based ones
Miguel had Special Eyes and sharp fingers and teefs
Mayday has a variation on the wall crawling and more sensitive spider sense
Bailey’s spider sense is more psychometry adjacent and has teefs and venom
And Peter is a genius and sometimes can summon the spiders

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd Maddie had a ton of different costumes and I think spider-legs out of her back?
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yeah. Now that there are so many other Spider People (I think you forgot Cindy, Bocaj, who I believe does create the Organic Webbing through her fingers), I think letting Peter be the guy who builds stuff works really well. It's gives him a niche.
.....So what should Ben do? I believe Cain gets the Stinger Arms as well.
One Strip! One Strip!"Boring Madame Web" is a redundant statement and you know it.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonThe most interesting thing about Classic Madame Web is that time Juggernaut wanted to kidnap her.
Well, I say that, but I know little of Madame Web beyond her animated appearances.
I can't really judge how Julia has fared as the New Madame Web because I haven't seen it.
One Strip! One Strip! There are literally infinite spider people
The list was not comprehensive
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe thing about Peter's genius being unique to him should be emphasized since making other spider's geniuses kinda deletes the whole genius wellpool.
Makes me want a character that is a legitimate dumbass. Like they can be clever but they have absolutely no mind for science or ever a hope in a career in anything science related.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The first Spider-Verse film had a good idea of this, making Miles more of an artist.
But thr sequel falters a bit by making his dream want to be a particle physist.
Though thats based on his desire to see his friends again so maybe when he overcomes loneliness and gets out of his shell, he can move and find a true dream for himself.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Miles is usually supposed to be straight A student bright rather then TV Genius like Pete. I believe Ganke was/is even the one who handles maintenance and web-fluid synthesis for him.
One day we'll have a Spider-Man who can't recite quantum mechanics by memory.
I will say, I found Miles being overwhelmed at his new school in the movie and struggling to write an essay in the video game while Ganke and Hailey already wrapped up theirs to be relatable.
Like, you don't have to be an idiot to not be good in school.
Or maybe that's cope on my end.

Well there is that, but I really felt Miles being overwhelmed and overworked at his new school even before he became Spider-Man. I dunno, it felt relatable. Like, he's not an idiot, but he's clearly gotten culture shock there.
Now as for his essay bit in the Spider-Man 2 game, I found it quite interesting because it also indicates a kind of existential crisis to him. He is in part distracted by being Spider-Man and Mr. Negative being out there, but I get the sense he's genuinely not sure what his future is yet and that's holding him back from achieving his essay.
Plus his fear section does indicate that he does strongly fear Ganke and Hailey moving on without him.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"That's a good analysis but, man, it does really draw attention to how tacked on Miles feels to the plot of the Insomniac games imo. Peter was off in the main plot going through the Black Suit arc and Harry going bad and fighting Kraven at his deadliest, meanwhile Miles was stuck trying to write an essay and doing all the goofy side-quests before being a plot device to get the symbiote off Peter. Even him wanting revenge on Mr. Negative feels almost like an afterthought.
Like this might sound like a hot take, but I get what they were trying to do with Miles' arc. Make him a bit more well adjusted but having some teenage issues like school stuff, insecurity about the future, feeling left behind while friends all around you have a clear future, so he can be a bit of emotional support to Peter.
I like the idea in theory, but in practice, I feel like they could have used an extra hour.
I'm fine with him doing stuff like helping out with school problems, and saving the music museum, stuff like that puts the friendly neighborhood in Spider-Man. I like it when the good guys are actively helping out their community.
I get the complaints about him feeling tacked on, but it works for me.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"They finally made it clear that she can still do the energy webs in Spider-Woman (2023).

True, but I feel like that's done with Miles a lot and gets taken way too far, such that he often ends up shafted off on boring, thread-bare plotlines like the aforementioned essay thing or he ends up coming off as too well-adjusted in a way that makes Peter look even more pathetic for not being able to function when Miles is in near-identical situations as him yet doing perfectly fine. Pretty much the only Miles stories that really defy this imo are the Spider-Verse movies and the original Ultimate Universe run for him, which both had him face plenty of superhero problems as well as personal problems.
I love that the whole fandom seems to be just kinda gradually deciding the retcon of Sin's Past means Norman fucked Mysterio rather than something more sane like Mysterio implanting fake memories.
Bonus points if you imagine Mysterio just looking like his usual self but with a Gwen wig on his fishbowl.

Technically Spinnerette's webs come out of her lower back but it sure looks like her butt. XD
