This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Ultimate Peter and Kitty had a great dynamic that I really loved; one of those weird instances of a ship that could only work in one specific continuity but by God it works there. I almost wish Kitty had become Peter's endgame love interest there instead of MJ, who could've instead hooked up with Gwen to pay off that Ship Tease between them.

hehe yeah
Now that the Ultimate 1610 has been restored I just assume Kitty is with Jess now, since Jess expressed attraction to her in New Ultimates and I believe 616 Kitty is intended to be bisexual.
Then I just ignore Bendis' weirdness with Kenny and Johnny x Jess (the later could be fine, but I feel like Bendis only did it for immature humour).

1610 was just an asshole, through and through. There's a moment when someone tries to stick up for Flash and Peter says no, he's not a great guy deep down, he's just a jerk and a loser.
Originally I thought that was the point - 1610 Flash being a response to the sympathetic 616 Flash, trying to be more grounded by showing the bully character isn't misunderstood or secretly has a really strong character.
But then that development was just tossed to Kenny instead, so it feels like a waste of Flash and shilling of Bendis' OC by giving him Flash's popular development.
There's something bleak about the suggestion that the bully just being a piece of shit with no nuance is more "grounded" than him actually being a proper human being beneath the facade. The fact that that kind of rancid take would've fit perfectly well with 1610's general vibe is sad. I'm reminded of that great quote from the final issue of Grant Morrison's Animal Man; "we thought that by making your world darker and more violent, we were making it mature and realistic. God help us if that's what it means."

re: the Spider-Boy solicit that was brought up here
:
Calling it now:
Bailey is going to meet an evil, powerless, criminal mastermind version of Spider-Man who fought Captain America and El Santo, thus canonizing Three Big Men as part of the Marvel Multiverse
