This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Patrick Gleason was asked about Peter and MJ over at a con this past weekend. He was very pro-relationship, saying their drama should always pull them closer and it shouldn't always be negative or tense.
He said he has a project coming this year which he will write and draw, while he couldn't sat if it was ASM or something else, his social media has pinned a tweet about how 'unbreakable' Peter and MJ are
RE Norman.
I mean, suddenly MJ is wearing a costume and fighting crime. Just like Norman did back in the silver age.
I'm telling you, Norman and MJ have swapped bodies, soon Jackpot will be throwing people off bridges.
And as for 616 Peter. Yeah.....TBH, I've long given up hope on him since like 2009. Let every other Peter be successful. This is the fate he deserves for letting Mephisto fuck up continuity after selling MJ and his unborn daughter to him.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I'm not satisfied with just leaving 616 Peter - the original, and main Spidey - a fuck-up because of executive meddling of the highest caliber.
Throwing out over forty years of storytelling over editorial's frankly stupid hang-ups about the Spider-marriage? No thnaks.
I'll continue hoping Marvel set things right, but until then, no variant is going to be enough to make up for that loss.
One day he'll get that rematch with Mephisto. Hopefully with a version of Mayday there.
And maybe Loki, in their new role as god of stories and shaper of narrative, acknowledging that they do still owe Peter a little bit of a favour. And they never liked Mephisto anyway.
Giving Peter all his memories back, Wolverine-style, would set up an arc or three as he tries to reconcile them with the timeline he's now in. Not a Reset Button, but an acknowledgement that things can be (and were once) different. Clearing the road for him to grow into that person again.

Well, RYV Spidey and MC 2 Spidey already have the exact same history as 616 Peter but without One More Day.
So yeah, not very hard for me to replace 616 Peter since he already violated his creed.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I feel like the very first thing that happens when Spider-Editorial changes hands will be an issue dedicated to Peter, MJ, and Mayday kicking the shit out of Mephisto for several dozen pages before Peter turns to the reader and says "WE NEVER SPEAK OF THIS AGAIN" and than everything is just back to how it was before OMD.
Whenever marvel retcons a hated writing choice, they usually do it by merging the old with the new.
We just saw that in X-Men, where they didn't exactly get rid of Kurt being the son of the devil, they just made it so that Mystique and Destiny were responsible for that story even happening.
Pretending 20 years of stories didn't happen is more of a DC thing.
Unless you’re Peter David and decide everything between your non consecutive runs was just a dream

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHonestly...just ignoring the entire "BND era" wouldn't be that difficult...due to nothing of any real significance actually happening. Even what should be life changing events like Peter becoming a zillionaire ...was quickly undone and swept under the rug. All they'd really have to do is bring in some of the characters post OMD (like Silk) into the restored timeline.
Everything Post-OMD seems almost aggressively dead-set on not having any significant long-term consequences whatsover. Dead characters come back like it's nothing, Peter's life situation always gets reset like the end of a Simpsons episode. It must be genuinely hard for younger fans to believe that this comic got famous and beloved for the sense of constant forward motion it used to have.
Ned Leeds came back
There was. Sort of an explanation. It definitely seemed like it was going to lead into more than it did.

But what about every other book in the Marvel Universe? Norman took over the government, after all.
Spidey stuff is too entrenched in the rest of the world for that to even work. Peter David couldn't retcon a few years of Hulk stories without issues.

And it was also swept under the rug. Recently Norman is a "reformed" bad guy due to his sins being removed...and Peter's best pal. Nothing post OMD has had any long term repercussions. It's why I've said ignoring the entire BND era is really easy...because everything no matter how world shaking the events may be...is ignored the second the storyline is over already.

The Civil Wars and stuff immediately are things that get shoved in the "please ignore this" box, really.
OMD is one of the few, if not only, things they are stubborn about. And its nature means no one even remembers it no matter how much it looms over the whole book.

Wake me up at your own risk.

At this point I'm just full on accelerationist when it comes to 616 Peter. Let him become the biggest laughing stock while all other adaptations let their Peters have some kinda stable life. Let the norm be praising every other version until the Spider-Editorial gets overruled.
