This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Like, it's just wild how that goes nowhere at all.
Heck, even a robot duplicate of Venom had more impact on the plot than a released sex tape of Tony and Black Widow.
Mostly Hawkeye being a dick to Spider-Man.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah I won't claim Marvel to be even close to be beyond critique in the 2010s or now even with some good stuff.
But with "gems" like this, Marville, Trouble, One More Day/Brand New Day and so on, I don't think people attributing Marvel's quality issues to diversity are as informed about the stuff from the 2000s or their claim of wanting quality isn't so sincere.
Spectacular Spider-Men was fun. Some wisecracks, lots of leaning on the fourth wall (Peter feels like he's been doing this for about 60 years), lots of fun interactions between Peter and Miles.
We've also got a new, bestial version of the Jackal, some "meanwhile" interludes that will probably pay off later, and a relatively long time window for the first issue - I think it covers a few months.
You just know the Fix Fic writers are gonna milk the panel where Peter and MJ casually undress around each other for all it's worth. Also says a lot about MJ's standing with Paul...he's her main in the chair, he's watching her do all this!

Heh, sorry 'bout that, I meant it in the most unflattering way possible for him, seeing as he's Watching his partner undresss in front of her ex
I've already seen social media meme this panel every which way...only a matter of time before the fan art...

Anna being put in Ravencroft is so bizarre. Like, really, MJ couldn't figure out anywhere to put her aunt than the facility that's usually used to imprison fucking Carnage? They even draw attention to the absurdity of it by having Human Fly casually walk past and chat with her - the same Human Fly who is a ruthless murderer and bug monster that melts people with his acid breath to eat them.
@Targetmaster - Why is Anna in Ravencoft?
Also, I found that excerpt quite amusing. It reminded me of that episode of Batman: The Animated Series where Scarecrow pauses in the middle of ranting insanely to speak with Harley Quinn in a very friendly and completely lucid manner.
I kind of like the idea of inmates being friendly towards each other, albeit with the implication that they are crazy in the sense of violent and a danger to the public, but not crazy in the sense of "unable to make moral choices or control their actions".

Anna Watson is currently suffering from dementia. As to why she's specifically in Ravencroft (the same place that's best known for holding CARNAGE when he isn't dead or going on yet another killing spree), I'm just chalking it up to the idea that Wells either forgot or just never realized that Ravencroft was a specialized facility to hold and treat specifically the criminally insane (and even more specifically, the superhuman criminally insane), like Arkham Asylum is in the Batman comics, not a more general mental hospital. Realistically, Ravencroft shouldn't have taken Anna in at all unless she was forced by court order to undergo treatment there, and in that case, MJ probably wouldn't have been allowed to personally drop her off on her own.
EDIT: OK, I just looked it up, and apparently, Anna recently went into a brief, violent frenzy due to Orchis tampering with the Krakoan medicine that she (and millions of other people) had been using. Still seems a bit overkill to put her in Ravencroft after that (especially after the sabotage was found out and removed), but now it at least makes a degree of sense. Probably would have been a better move to put her in a regular mental hospital after that, though, seeing as the staff likely wouldn't have much trouble subduing an old woman if something like it happened again, whereas putting her in the same facility that regularly holds cannibals and serial killers and cannibalistic serial killers is like trying to swat a mosquito with an assault rifle.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's Dictionary@Trash Jack - I was going to initially say that (even though the Wells run sounds generally terrible) that it seemed like the comic was humorously aware of the reputation of Ravencroft, since Anna's fellow patients/inmates are supervillains.
But also, that makes sense in light of the edit that she would be there. I was kind of figuring there was some plotline in which she had Demonic Possession or something of that nature, which would "justify" a stay in Ravencroft.
Gwen having Ho Yay with her MJ has been a thing since pretty much her first appearance.
Maybe former Ravencroft Director and good friend of the Parkers and Ex-Partners, NORMAN OSBORN offered her free treatment!
And it's sad that's almost plausible in this hellish continuity.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Every time you hear it, it sounds more and more absurd. The sheer fact that things have turned out such that Norman is Peter's only real friend - and that Peter will be losing even him very soon when the soon-to-be struck Reset Button is hit - is... something else.

And the entire team just casually sat round watching it together on a big screen.
