This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

What? Competency from an Ultimate Shocker?? Is that allowed? Is that even legal??
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat came across as more Peter underestimating him too severely after the guy was played as a joke for all of his other appearances.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNu-Ultimate Shocker being played as a Wake-Up Call Boss is a cool take. I also really love how Hickman emphasizes that Peter may be starting out older in this version, but he's still just starting out and thus doesn't really think like a superhero; most versions of Spider-Man would never fall for that kind of thing.
Ultimate Captain America is kind of a racist shithead tho.
Honestly, I'm tired of "Captain America would be racist if he was here IRL" We should have more "Captain America would shit himself if he learned about inflation."

"Cap would be racist" is such an ice-cold, small-brain shit take. It's entirely based around what C. S. Lewis and Owen Barfield called "chronological snobbery"; presumption that everyone before our own time was stupid or even outright evil. The idea that attitudes like tolerance, empathy, egalitarianism, and so on somehow couldn't be professed by a guy from that time period is nonsense dressed up as edgy invocation of Deliberate Values Dissonance. It's like people think the Civil Rights Movement just sprang up out of thin air.
Hilariously, thanks to the all too often terrible writing of the OG-Ultimates, one of the things Cap was depicted as being "old-fashioned" about was objecting to incest.

If it wasn't for the fact that Ultimate Peter woke up inside of a laboratory after his resurrection rather than inside his grave, I would have guessed that he just dug himself out of there, like 616-Peter did in Kraven's Last Hunt. Unlike the Bride, he has the super-strength that the Mythbusters said would be needed to both escape the coffin and force himself out directly through the 6 feet of dirt that would then rapidly flood inside.
I suppose it could still be possible that he did it, but went into a sort of dissociative fugue state that started when he woke up inside his own coffin and ended when he got himself into a perfectly safe lab to rest, such that he doesn't remember any part of his daring, post-mortem escape, but I think that's starting to stretch plausibility there.

That's why I want to see Captain America react more to inflation. It feels like a much better thing to write about.

Right? I feel like it was supposed to be a mystery then Bendis got bored of it/forgot he set that up.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Cap: "Back in my day, a nickel would buy you a newspaper with change left over for the bus. You could go see a nice movie for a nickel. I went to go see the new Simon Williams picture the other day and it cost fifteen dollars. What the hell happened to the economy?"
Spider-Man: "You have fifteen dollars?"

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI thought Peter waking up in a lab was supposed to be him waking up in the morgue as a Mythology Gag to Norman doing that in 616 in the flashback retconning him alive for the Clone Saga.
The online/digital version gets officially released to Kindle at midnight, local time - so if you're in the UK, Australia etc., it can be significantly before the USA gets it.

There's not really any joy to be has in this.
Like if this was instead Peter and Felicity engaging in nonstop kinky sex that would at least be entertaining.
But Peter barely had any time with her so there was nothing resembling any sort of fun.
