This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Wasn’t he a priest in the Heroes Reborn Squadron Supreme world?
It’s weird how often he ends up a priest and not a regular lawyer
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe current Venom run sure likes to jerk me around.
I really did not care about the multiple Kings in Black reveal at the start of this run. But lately I became really invested in both the reveal that they were all future Eddies and how Brock becomes each stage of his future, all culminating in an eventual showdown with Meridius.
And then God Carnage yanks that away so we can have another Venom v Carnage rematch.

The Mutant Factor was the team up with Beast that was the basis of X-Men: The Animated Series crossover with Spider-Man: The Animated Series, wasn't it?
I remember finding that particular comic years later and immediately recognizing that what it was.
One Strip! One Strip!I have the last issue from that
My exact reaction was oh hey like the cartoon
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI just read it now - I'm not sure?
It's a one-issue story with Peter and MJ talking about having a baby, and worried about the risks - particularly what effect Peter's powers might on the baby. Both consider it a distinct possibility that their child would be a mutant, so Peter goes to find Beast to talk about it.
Peter and Beast fight a mutant hater and a mutant supremist, talk about the risk, and then fight a rampaging hulk-like dude who turns out to be the mutant baby of a Morlock couple who was sent to the surface world to get medical treatment when he was sick. The mutant turns back to join his parents, and Beast tells the couple of somewhere where he can get treatment but also be looked after he doesn't have risk of hurting people, they agree, and Spidey goes home. Peter and MJ agree to not rush into anything with having kids just yet.
That doesn't sound all that similar to the cartoon.
Decent story though, and I'm glad it was a one-issue story given that I have that comic in isolation.

I'm pretty sure it is. There's a lot of different things, but I immediately thought about the cartoon when I saw it. I'm pretty sure the Spiderman the Animated Series writers took some inspiration from it.
One Strip! One Strip! Was it ever stated whether symbiote colors have some kind of significance?
I keep thinking about the "Red One" line in the Venom 2 movie, and since then there's been several "Red One" references to the movie, but I don't think it's ever been elaborated on.
The closest we got that I can recall is that Knull created symbiotes from the Living Abyss, making black the standard, and once created a red Grendal from his own blood.
#IceBearForPresidentMelissa Flores on the impact of Spider-Gwen, new villains, and writing ‘Giant-Size Spider-Gwen’
If she's so impactful Marvel then why are you taking away everything unique from her by moving her to 616?

I think it was more of a meta joke. Carnage is venoms most popular Villan, so it was sort of like how The arg for The Batman (2022) ended with a joker scene, even though the whole arg was about the riddler. Yeah it didint make SENSE, but it was cool for the fans. In the movie, red symboties don’t mean anything, but to the fans, it means Carnage.
I think it’s the same reason Miles doesn’t remember 1610 and his uncle existing as a separate proweler is just a thing. The comics are trying to integrate the characters into one universe, so an adaptation doesn’t have to introduce Gwen Stacy before Spider-Gwen, Spider-Gwen can just be THE Gwen Peter knows.

Melissa isn't the one taking them away, in fact her mini series, this one shot, have the story set in Gwen's native Earth-65.
The new ongoing where they are moving her to the 616 is by a different writer.
Going by the interview, Melissa would prefer to tells stories with Gwen in Earth-65.

It kinda feels like Marvel wishes they'd put Gwen in 616.
Maybe so they could have Gwen back, although I think it's far too late for that.
It seems they want to pull a Miles and transfer her over.
One Strip! One Strip!I know right?
Bringing back Gwen would create the kind of obstacle to Peter and MJ that they want, but they don't because they either:
1) Know she'd be destroyed utterly;
2) Don't think she'd be good in the role;
3) Expect they'd just have to kill her off again.
One Strip! One Strip!@immortal & Delta
Yeah I know it's all a wink an nod for the fans, but the comics feels like they stop just short of establishing some kind of meaning for when a symbiote is red.
Like, when Eddie first meets Bedlam he focuses more on him being red than big and angry, Eddie comments on one of Kang's future symbiotes being red as a reason to avoid conflict, and even Thor taking pause at seeing Bedlam's Child being red.
It feels like they are trying to establish a hierarchy or something but never commit to the bit beyond a movie quip, and that's kinda disappointing.
