This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Now there’s an idea. MJ was injected with a pseudo Goblin-Oz formula in the ultimate universe and became Demogoblin.
I’ve joked a lot about how this run basically switched Norman’s and MJ’s characters, complete with Norman being a red head who knows Peter’s secret identity, tries to be supportive, despite everyone else treating Pete like garbage, and is the one most concerned when the Goblin possess Peter.
Far as I’m concerned, MJ and Norman swapped bodies at some point.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"![]()
Considering MJ as Norman isn't murdering people and is the Gold Goblin yeah.
Shit posting aside, I do think it would be a neat idea if MJ actually did use Green Goblin gear to fight crime instead of being a Ben 10 character.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I mean, if you're talking about those versions of Gwen who got the Omnitrix instead of Ben, then yes.
But you really should have stated she was like Ben straight up, since he's the one who's usually changing forms.
One Strip! One Strip!I enjoy Slott writing Bailey as a sort of preteen Ditko-era Peter. Bailey understands the weight of responsibility and will always choose to do the right thing, but man does it suck sometimes and he's indignant about not being given what he thinks is his just reward. Heroism Won't Pay the Bills, but it sucks even more when you're homeless and penniless.
Plus, that jab at superheroes being expected to work for free all the time. I'm inclined to agree with Bailey that being saved from having to visit the hospital is more than worth twenty bucks. I've had strangers give me five bucks for lifting stuff into the trunk of their car for them.

The Avengers off and on get paid. Most heroes either make that their job or have some other source of income. Bailey is a kid that got erased from time, so he doesn't even have a home to go back to, so he needs to start thinking about money and his next meal or other stuff like that.

Wake me up at your own risk.
x5 Hinestky, I feel Peter should be at least well off from being Spider-Man, like you’re telling me no small business wants to pay him to be their mascot? You’re telling me no one would pay him for an interview? Yeah I don’t think he should sell out, but it’s so annoying seeeing the ten millionth Spider-Man story where he’s down on his luck and about to be evicted, and he makes a joke about “the ol’ Parker luck”
Sometimes I like to think that Peter uses Spider-Man as a way to escape from his adult responsibilities.
At least post OMD fraud Spider-Man. Like I said, that story basically killed 616 Spider-Man for me.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Older comics tended to have Peter try to profit off Spider-Man stuff and other things, only to fail because of his own flaws, mistakes, and unwillingness to let his two lives overlap (e.g., the famous scene from an early issue where he gets a check only to realize that he can't cash it without exposing his secret identity) on top of bad luck. Post-OMD, that's been flanderized into him being an impotent moron who can't hold down a job for more than year with absolutely zero explanation or excuse as to why. A big part of why Post-OMD Peter has become so unbearable is because the writers want him to be a put-upon guy who can't get ahead so they can live through him vicariously but don't want him to have the flaws that made him a put-upon loser for the same reason.
On the subject of Bailey, it just dawned on me how extraordinarily fucked up it is that Marvel is apparently so obsessed with Peter not having kids that they've made a situation where Peter is just leaving a homeless, orphaned ten year old off on his own when he could very easily take him in and raise him. How heroic.

No, we know why he's lost most of his jobs.
He quit being a paparazzi because he realized it was a scummy thing to do, he got fired from working for the mayor after faking a photo, he left horizon to start Parker Industries, he bankrupted Parker Industries to beat HYDRA, he got fired from his science editor job at the Bugle because Otto plagiarized his own work, and he's been working for Norman ever since.
And whatever place Peter ends up working at is usually the main setting for the book at the time.

Norman is going to be the most toxic ex in Spider-Man's history.
Maybe MJ will finally reveal she's a mind swapped Norman Osborn.
