This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Fun fact, but the untold tales of Spider-Man revealed the Crime Master thought Jameson was the Goblin since Norman tricked him, but then the Gwen Stacy series revealed the Crime Master knew he was Norman all along or something.
I love comics.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I don't know how the rest of Gang War is going, but I'm enjoying Bailey's involvement in Spider-Man Unlimited.
Betting on some version of Vermin as the hidden villain. Which would be interesting. They've had some Badass Decay but they were portrayed as utterly terrifying in some classic stories.
Putting Bailey up against them would be interesting.

That's totally unsurprising. Multiple writers now have said pretty much the same thing. With how Spider-Editorial manages things, it's no wonder a lot of writers don't want to work on the book.
Vermin's one of my favorite underrated Spidey villains. And yeah, I hope writers get back to portraying him as utterly nightmarish like he was back in the day. That scene where his dad awakes in the middle of the night to find Vermin in bed with him with a huge rictus grin is seared into my brain.
You gotta love it when comic book writers dunk on the Spider-Office!
Just piling on the evidence that the Spider-Editorial needs a clean sweep already.
Speaking of Gang War and managing things, someone found out
that the Jackpot one-shot credits two artists (Joey Vazquez and Eric Gapstur) rather than just one like the solicit. If the original plan was to give Jackpot a miniseries instead of a one-shot, but outrage made go "NOPE!", then they might have gotten Gapstur to make it more "one-shot-y" and less "miniseries-that-got-aborted-abruptly".
This is like in the Clone Saga when marvel had trouble getting people to stay with the book because they either didn’t want to deal with the mess or wanted to be writing Peter Parker
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBluntly, it's work for hire. You don't own any of it, royalties are reportedly not that significant, and anything new you add to the mythos is unlikely to financially reward you — even if it becomes the core of a new MCU film or something.
So if it's not going to boost your reputation and you're not going to get to write the Spider-Man stories you want to write, why take that particular job?
Because, on the other hand, if you're the sort of writer Marvel trusts with Spider-Man, you almost certainly have other opportunities.
Probably including other opportunities at Marvel which give you more creative freedom and will be better for your reputation.
Maybe do a Spider-Man limited series, or something like Ultimate, Hickman-style, where you do get the creative freedom?

Some of
the pages
for the Jackpot one-shot leaked and oh my goodness, it is so underwhelming.
Paul clamped a power limiter on the Jackpot bracelet, so while it keeps her from going all Captain Universe with her powers, it also keeps her from dying. Plus, Peter knows MJ is Jackpot, which is good because I thought they'd do some "oh who is this lady that seems to resemble MJ?" BS. And the three skulls thing? Some early readers actually revealed what they mean and you have three guesses as to what. First two guesses don't count.
This screams "let's get this the f*ck over with" so bad.

I guess they could try more shock value and just have Paul become Spider-Man to get some rage buys.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I've seen the joke about Norman and M.J. swapping minds a couple times and it's pretty funny. But, it's also got me curious. Has there been a good (or any) M.J. body swap story lines? I know Peter has done a couple of different body swap stories of varying quality with Dr. Octopus, Wolverine, and Kamala Khan. Has M.J. had any freaky Friday stories?
Wolverine was only in the Ultimate Universe comics and the Ultimate Spiderman tv show.
One Strip! One Strip! She was possessed by Red Sonja once but that's a different sort of thing.

I find it pretty sad that MJ gets a rare female voice writing her at Marvel and in this instance, Celeste Bronfman is no Leah Williams. She makes MJ incredibly 'mid' and uninteresting in her superhero guise. The book reads like something for little kids. There is still no chemistry or a spark of romance anywhere between Paul and MJ. At one point Paul gets concerned for MJ's power settings and freaks out when a whole bridge gets dropped on her, but other than that, there's no hint that he's unsupportive of her or there is friction like some advance leaks (that were still mostly right) were trying to imply.
Peter and MJ do briefly interact, but it's more like work colleagues. Peter calls MJ by her name in public and Jen jokes MJ should sue him for forgetting about her secret identity, MJ says she'll 'see Peter around' as he wants to recruit her for the final battle and walks off to help others in need as the gang war intensifies

Maybe he wouldn't have had such a hard time if he didn't wear such a gaudy costume.
The Protomen enhanced my life.
