This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

....
Right. Nobody's gonna stop demanding Paul die, so I'm just bowing out.
Like, I can't even blame people for being this spiteful.
Just remember one thing.
If they do end up doing exactly to Paul what you all keep saying they should do (kill him in the most hateful way possible), I'm sure they'll take exactly the wrong lesson from it.
Rest assured that will happen and we'll all probably regret not just letting them quietly retire him.

Fair point.

This.
Though, I'm big enough to admit that he shouldn't be the one saying fuck y'all I'm out. I'm willing to allow everyone else to tell him get the fuck out.
But that's it. He just goes. No wasting time thinking of how to kill him or anything. He's just gone, and we move on.
Like, as I said, there's be some Cartharsis over it, but...then what? I just think we need to be a bit better than that.
And again, I know these guys will take the wrong lesson from it. I know they will. Because that's what they do.
Edit:
I doubt it'd be that simple. I know it'd come back to bite all of us in a meta way somehow.
Plus....I don't think he's worth killing. Why waste time murdering this character that no one cares from. Those five seconds could be spent...I don't know doing anything else more worthwhile that actually adds to things.
But I'm already spending more time defending this guy I don't care about enough to even want dead than I care for, so I'm ending it here.
Just remember, we're better than worthless Take That, Scrappy! attitudes. It weakens us.

One Strip! One Strip!Realistically, what will happen is that MJ and Paul will break up by the end of Wells' run, and the next writer just won't bother using him. Wells will have MJ and Paul break up to clear the board for the next writer to do whatever they want with MJ. And the next writer will just ignore Paul, in favour of their own preferred supporting characters.
That's the typical way for things to be handled.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Mettle is kinda Schroedinger's Franken-teen now; that recent arc about Arcade appears to have moved Avengers Arena to an AU. At the very least, that whole gross thing about there being a worldwide livestream of Murderworld was thrown out.
Mettle - and Juston Seyfert, don't forget him! - are thus in a sort of Limbo state, and I don't believe it's been confirmed either way if they're still dead? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think people overestimate how much the events of the Wells run will matter in the long run.
If Randy and Janice end up tying the knot, that'll probably be the thing with the biggest staying power going forward.
I could see us eventually getting a Gold Goblin sequel too in the same way we get Superior follow-ups every few years.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if one random comic just has everyone who died in Avengers Arena just show up sitting around a table and talking about how they never died and how weird it is people think they're dead. As you said, Arena is barely a step above Canon Discontinuity at this point.

I'm pretty sure the events of Arena did get referenced in other books. So it's still canon, and Mettle and Justin are still dead.
The Murderworld miniseries also has Arcade still having a huge audience for his murder streams and the heroes can’t do anything to stop him and mostly don’t try
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf you mean Zub's series of Murderworld stories that focused on regular civilians, Avengers Arena was referenced in that.
Saying that Avengers Arena was moved to an AU is just false.
Black Widow was tracking him down, but she only arrived after all the civilians were dead and Arcade had left.

And she's the only one that's bothering and only because Arcade fucked with her specifically.
She asked Krakoa for help but they washed their hands of it because of political concerns.

No. You actually can just write him out by having him and MJ break up. It's actually pretty easy to do. Even better, it doesn't require any sort of stupid and awful retcon, or needless pettiness from the creators, or anything like that. You can have them just break up, and then everyone can move the fuck on from it.
I don't even read Spider-Man, and the hate and whining I see over Paul makes me like him more our of pure contrary spite. Because there is absolutely no way that he is deserving of the level of hate he gets here. So he's a shitty character, written poorly, in a badly-written story? Well, that sucks, I hope the comic improves, and I hope Paul gets written out.
But fucking hell, with the rhetoric on here, you'd think the character had banged everyone's girlfriends right in front of them. It's ludicrous.
