This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

I've just caught up with Amazing Spider-Man and I have to admit that... I don't hate it. While I wouldn't say it is a good story, I still enjoyed parts of it (Rak-Rap and White Rabbit were fun, and I am liking Gang War so far) and I think the thing I liked least is actually the art, which was just bad at times.
Wells and Lowe: we have plans for Ben Reilly!
Marvel: here, a miniseries about Ben and Kaine coming Summer 2024.
Zeb probably won't touch it.
Wells and Lowe: if anyone asks, we came up with the idea. Maybe that way, they'll stop yelling at us!

Chasm is basically a symbiote with the symbiote stuff taken out.
Ben fell into some non-symbiote goo, took on a symbiote-esque name, and feels like his life was personally ruined by Peter Parker.
Even if the name wasn't bad, the concept is still a transparent and lazy attempt to make Ben into Venom while keeping the actual Venom doing his own thing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI can only really picture two possibilities for the next run. Either it's just a marathon Take That! at Wells/Lowe's work or it just ignores everything that happened in it and basically goes "let's just pretend we're picking up where the Spencer run left off".
What they gotta do (and joke directly stolen from /r/D Ccomicscirclejerk) is get Carlie and Paul together, and send them on a bus away. That would fix everything.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI agree.
I'm actually against killing Paul because it would mean nothing to no one.
If you're gonna forget him forget him. But Carlie got fixed.
Now if she died, it might get a reaction beyond casual disdain.
The same can be done for Paul. In fact, I'd consider it a sign of excellent writing if you could make Paul a character that people would care about if he died.
The first step is to make him more than an obstacle. Second step, give us some real details about his involvement in what his dad did. Then work from there.
Take responsibility for what you created comic writers. Take responsibility.
One Strip! One Strip!Carlie was fixed so that she’s not obnoxious anymore but new investigative Carlie doesn’t do anything that couldn’t be done with Betty Brant

" Neither option is particularly good, honestly. The first option is just awful. You don't deal with shitty writing with more shitty writing. Maliciousness doesn't work. Maybe the occasional off-hand comment or something, but as an extended thing? No.
The second option isn't great, either. The way to go is to just continue off from where the previous run ended. Look for interesting plot hooks that aren't already resolved, and let the characters deal with what they've been through.
As for Paul, if he's still alive by the end of Wells' run, then odds are, the best way to handle him would be to let him leave. Give him a couple years for people to kinda forget about him. At that point, if someone has an interesting idea for him, they can give it a try and see if it works. If it doesn't, oh well.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I said this before here: you can just say everyone in this run was a Space Phantom and the real people were off doing something else and lose absolutely nothing. Paul can go die on the way back to his home planet for all I care. Though making him an actual villain would be funny.
