This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

J.M De Matties' next Spider-Man project is "Shadow of the Green Goblin", it takes place in the Ditko era and tells the story of the first 'protoype Green Goblin' Nels Van Adder
Read the first issue of Spider-Gwen: Smash. I am liking it so far and we finally get a mention of Sue Storm.
It also seems like we will get a follow up on MJ's symbiote in Giant-Size Spider-Gwen. Here's the article about Giant-Size Spider-Gwen from Marvel's website

Issues like this from Slott get me real pumped, I like forgetting the guy is such a heat magnet online
Slott is a decently good writer. I don't think he has big ideas like Hickman or Ewing do. He sat on Reckoning War for over a decade and it wasn't anything special, with paper thin antagonists. But he's good enough to fill over a decade of spider stories.
His problems are that he's a unnecessary dick online, he has procrastination problems which dumps some of the scripting work on his collaborator and causes the work to suffer, and a lot of his ideas really aren't what the readers want to read. Although that last point may be related to editorial boxing him into a corner.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDon't forget gimmicky plots and characters that also involve controversial retcons.
Clone Conspiracy is a good example of this. "Hey Gwen Stacy is back for REALZ and it turns out Gwen died hating Peter read this book to see them reconcile."
"Also some shit about Ben Reilly being the Jackal after coming back from the dead. Again."

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I mean, Slott stayed on board for 10 years and as damning by faint praise as this kind of is, he was one of the better writers to take over the book after BND which had some pretty bad sales.
I'd say his stories were more gimmicky to get attention like Superior Spider-Man or Parker Industries than outright bad and stories people don't want to read. And I say this as someone who really doesn't like Parker Industries, there were some people on this thread defending Parker Industries when Peter lost it.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"My opinion on Slott is that he's an okay, even good, writer but far from a great one - especially when he doesn't have a partner like Christos Gage reining him in - and often lets his ego, weird parasocial feuding with fans, and sniveling towards editorial get in the way of just writing his stories. As
said, he's one of the better writers from the Post-OMD period, but that's damned by faint praise. If this were a Pre-OMD era of Spider-Man, he would be considered one of the weakest people to handle the character.
Maybe Slott is one of those writers who just does better with characters that he isn't a fan of and doesn't have a personal stake in. It happens sometimes, that negative expression of Running the Asylum; often when a Promoted Fanboy gets in charge of a book, it's a good thing, but sometimes it's not. Slott seems to be an avowed fan of Spider-Man and consider him his favorite Marvel character, so he has personal biases that don't come up when he's writing for characters like She-Hulk or the Great Lakes Avengers or Silver Surfer.

Well, his Silver Surfer run was with Mike Allred. I feel like Allred brings out the absolute best in his collaborators.
Posted this in the Batman thread, and not putting it here because it's relevant to Spiderman as well:

When the Joker is feeling sorry for you, you know you've hit rock bottom.
One Strip! One Strip! You know, the Joker would really hate dealing with Spider-Man if he was written better.
Spider-Man's jokes would utterly drive the Joker batty. He thinks Terry roasted him? Wait till he actually has to deal with Spider-Man's quips.
This is why Green Goblin and Venom can actually quip back, I don't think the Joker can keep up with Spidey TBH.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Also, Peter might be as smart as Bruce, and while he lacks all the gadgets, is much stronger and just as good at using the tools he has as Bruce is, and also has a Spider-Sense to warn him of incoming Joker Venom. Provided he doesn't just webbing the joker from a distance, that is.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, Joker got his ass kicked by Spider-Man the first time they met in the comics.
Though Spider-Man was having a bad day at that time and was tempted to kill the Joker. Though that didn't pan out.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Though it took a bit for him to deal with Batman's Gotham is my city attitude.
Also, Carnage was there. He and Joker didn't get along. Their methods were too different.
I liked the second crossover with Ra's and Kingpin.
One Strip! One Strip!A hero claiming an entire city wouldn’t make sense to Spider-Man.
He’s from New York which has like a hundred superheroes rubbing shoulders. And it may be the marvel thing to have misunderstanding fights when heroes run into each other, nobody tries to claim an entire city
Why, that’s downright supervillain-ish behavior

Forever liveblogging the Avengers

They should have that happen. Peter becoming Eddie.
All of a sudden, Pete's more brutal, obsessive, and very into bodybuilding.
