This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Y’know, the funny thing is that I’m totally okay with the basic idea of Peter getting called on his bullshit by a ton of different people. He’s a genuinely deeply flawed guy who’s made a lot of really bad mistakes in his life. There’s plenty of stuff you could have people be pissed at him for and it’d be totally justified, or you could have him do stuff that pisses people off and it’d make sense.
The problem is, Wells and Lowe don’t care about little things like “making sense” and just want their precious status quo, so they engage in these inept, poorly conceived excuses to have everyone treat Peter like absolute dogshit without actually having Peter do anything worthy of that response because they’re scared of anything that would make him feel older, like having to maturely face his own failings, and also scared of having Peter be as flawed as he was written to be for most of his history because he’s their pet character. Plus, they really don’t care much for any character other than Peter and Norman.
So instead of Peter doing anything where all this anger and bile directed at him would be justified or just having people treat him nicely, they contrive “WHAT DID PETER DO” type bullshit to use as weak justifications for having all of Peter’s friends and family turn on him, leaving him with nothing but Norman.
That and they are ironically promoting a victim complex for Peter's character. That he doesn't really do anything wrong and it's the world out to get him since none of it is his fault.

Like the worst Peter did was act jumpy and hostile, but that's because he was racing the clock because for all he knew, MJ would be old and withered at best and dead at worst if he didn't hurry up.
Man, this run is just so awful. And it feels criminal that it still prints money because it's freaking Spider-Man. Plus, apparently they didn't even plan it all the way through because they thought they could milk this "everybody hates Peter lol" status quo forever.
(The only silver lining from all this is that Dan Slott has been going on a tirade about comic book industry conspiracies via CBR and I'm told that if he's like that, it's because the higher-ups at Marvel Comics decided that the current direction for Spidey stinks.)

A lot of stuff. One thing is that he contradicts himself about how he "had to move mountains"
to make Renew Your Vows happen.
I'd have to do some more digging, but it's kinda insane.
EDIT: okay, here's more I could find:
- Apparently he's ranting about how his going silent for a while isn't because of the trailer for Hickman's USM (and he's definitely cyber-stalking someone he blocked on Twitter).
- Ranting about
the Alpha storyline
, insisting that the ending wasn't changed at the last minute.
- Splicing other people's responses
so that they fit the narrative where he's not the problem.

"I will become a superhero to avenge my obnoxious fake children!"
You had less of a reaction to your real daughter getting murder-kidnapped!
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonWell, there's also RYV MJ and MC 2 MJ.
The former looks quite fine in that Spider-Suit.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Does Mary Jane not know whether May was not a miscarriage?
Also, I remember that's the moment that broke me off Spider-Man. Everyone was waiting for Peter to find out and go after his child to rescue her.
It's only by Life of Reilly did I find out that, "Oh, we just thought fans would forget about her."
You joke but making Wiccan and Speed fake demon children was meant to erase them and for Wanda to never have to worry about them again.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.

He says that Pete left them for six months, and that he had to step up as Spider-man because Peter disappeared.
That doesn't sound like Pete missing calls (also suck it up Miles, Peter was the sole Spider-man for way fucking longer than six months, and you've dropped the gig for an entire year)
