This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Lol, yeah, that’ll always amuse me too. Especially when you consider how terrifying and mind-rending Eddie’s experiences for most of Ewing’s run were and yet his life is STILL better than Peter’s right now because he’s climbing his back up and isn’t being actively humiliated and emasculated every week.

That sort of hypocrisy is omnipresent on reddit where I read, so I got a bit rattled.
Still true, btw. Eddie as god of the symbiotes is a perfect evolution of the character, and putting him back on the streets would be a step backwards. And we have Dylan.

Very much agree. Its not even that I inherently object to Beast becoming evil, it’s that the writing for it fucking sucks because he loses a million IQ points upon becoming evil and everyone else looks even stupider because they just let him do this Stupid Evil shit unabated until it’s far too late.
Mr. Sinister apparently had his head in a jar.
Quote Sinister:
....why are we talking about Beast in the Spiderman thread? Like, don't get me wrong, I want Hank back to normal as well, but...
One Strip! One Strip!Well you've got at least one dissenting voice. Here's me advocating for Kissinger Beast:
One, he's been on this track for a while, ever since the Legacy Virus. We know that Beast has the capability of being like this because of Dark Beast. And Krakoa being what it is, everyone's being the worst versions of themselves.
The thing is, he's so convinced and eager to jump in this role as CIA head that he's unaware that in reality, he is not made for it. He wants to believe that he is doing the dark shit so that mutantkind can sleep at night because that's the role Krakoa almost made for him. Instead it's a fucked up imposition created by Krakoa. Like everyone and everything else on Krakoa, he got so into the project that he forgot what he actually is.
The shit he did with Wolverine? 100% all his fault. He took Logan and fucked with him because that's what bad guys do, and he is totally a bad guy. And then it all exploded in his face, and he just sank deeper into the character to justify it. He's like a character actor, too deep in the role, or a comedian who has taken the schtick way too far. He's kind of pathetic.
And then everyone else on Krakoa eats it up because "they are having the exact same problem too". Xavier doesn't want to call him out, because guess what, he's doing some heinous crap for the same reasons.
The reason Krakoa-era books are so "good" are because the characters in them and their morals are so "bad".

Just as an example of a scene showing the opposite of this that I loved; that one scene where Carnage first died (and should’ve stayed dead tbh) where he was ripped in half by Sentry in space. It was brutal and shocking, but it also made sense with the power levels and was a suitable way for Carnage to go out as a character (by finally picking the wrong fight and being on the receiving end of his own breed of sadism). If Carnage had somehow magically slaughtered Sentry like in his current run, I’d have hated it.
