This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

And also, it wasn't even Mephisto. It was just Old Man Osborn wearing a Mephisto costume and Hypno Fool-ing Peter and MJ for his own sick amusement.
God. If they ever do retcon one more day I bet it is going to be another Stormin Norman plot
That man needs a different hobby

I think that was the hand wave used Post-OMD to justify Harry being back. But that’s firmly not canon anymore, Nick Spencer’s introduced the far better explanation that BND Harry was just a clone.
And yeah, EVERYONE is entrenched in OMD because OMD was partly dedicated to making Peter’s identity a secret again, which is a really underrated aspect of how it was terrible.
Yeah he died at the end of the Spencer run.
I'm curious if the Emily Osborn from the end of Slott's run is a clone made by evil A.I. Harry.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"
Honestly, she probably should be. It would make sense, unlike the bizarre retcon to bring her back. I still don’t get what bringing her back was even supposed to accomplish, the character spent decades as nigh-nonexistent backstory element and Slott didn’t really do much of anything with her nor has any other writer.
Yeah, she’s a total nonentity. She’s entered the hall of characters like Gabriel and Sarah Stacy or Theresa Parker or such who seem to have no purpose for existing other than being a terrible retcon done for nebulous purposes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, when the time finally comes that the Spider-Man book is liberated from Lowe and company, the first thing done is a deck clearing like Nick Spencer was clearly trying to do where all the superfluous clones and needlessly revived characters are slaughtered en masse to put all these characters back in the ground where they belong so they aren’t clogging up Spidey’s lore anymore.
I mean I distinctly recall that the Spencer run did seem to be hinting that she was just some LMD, quite possibly yet another of AI Harry’s supply of clones and robots and crap meant to drive Peter crazy.
Frankly, I’m pretty sure at this point AI Harry will be used to wipe away everything of this type. All the weird continuity errors and problems created by OMD and Post-OMD retcons will be declared as just Mephisto having out everyone under an illusion of “single swinging Peter” meant to drive Peter and MJ insane or destroy their lives and using the AI Harry to try and keep the illusion up with stuff like this. Its the only way to cleanly dispose of all the OMD baggage and move the series the fuck on already.
Hell, Spencer’s run basically already said as much. The gun to take OMD out back and shoot it in the head with has been loaded, it’s just a matter of getting people willing to fire it into the office.

Spencer’s run made me hate Theresa. All she did was show up and emotionally blackmail Peter into doing her job for her. Other than that she had no impact or interest in his actual life.
Even Peter’s worthless robot parents actually spent time hanging out with him
Edit: Also this Harry talk has reminded me of the Harry skeleton that still had the Osborn hair on his bare skull
Which certainly was an artistic decision.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah that was weird. The old Osborn hairdo is apparently actually a skull deformity.
On the note of the Osborns’ weird hair, remember the time that John Byrne tried to make Sandman an Osborn because he had similar weird hair? What the hell was that about?
Also also, isn’t it weird that Normie doesn’t have this hair which apparently runs in the family on the male side?
Asking the important questions here.
Byrne has a weird fixation on hair
One of the reasons he decided that Magneto was Wanda and Pietro’s father was because Mags and Pietro had the same hair style
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAmusing Felicia update from JMS' Captain America today
Spider-Man and Cap team together to fight the Sinister Six, but they find they've taken the day off, Peter calls Felicia and finds out why....she's now dating one of Doc Ock's cousins, so the Six called off killing Spidey as a favour to him and Felicia. Cap departs and Peter asks Felicia if having eight eyes turns her off

That’s fucking hilarious. It’s good to have JMS back at Marvel.

I’m beginning to suspect that Byrne is some kind of alien who operates on moon logic and his good stories are mostly the result of him accidentally coming up with good ideas in a Right for the Wrong Reasons kind of way.
Probably because the non-Spidey-books don't have to deal with the albatross that is Spider-Editorial (or at the very least, Spider-Editorial doesn't have as much power over the creative teams of other characters' books when Spidey puts in a guest appearance than it does over the creative teams of Spider-Man books).

They should reveal that Mephisto never made a deal for the marriage and it was just Mysterio hypnotizing Mary Jane and Peter.
