This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread
which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

Comedy guy
x2 Curious that you mention that, since Magic the Gathering just announced a colaboration with Marvel, so you can bet the Spidey rogue gallery will be printed there, and be playable in a couple years.

Once again, you and I are going to have to agree to disagree.
Spidey helping crooks go straight is always great.
Anyways as a random discussion point, are they any songs any of you associate with Spider-Man? Hard mode, it can’t be one of the cartoon or movie theme songs, it has to be an original song.
I kinda like “Jungleland” by Bruce Springsteen as a “theme song” for Spidey as a character and series.

I wonder if that was lampshading the fact of how every other writer ignored how Kraven was reforming in Doreen's book.
There is a Batman story about his rogues gallery playing Poker and exchanging stories about the time they almost got him.
I can now see Spiderman's rogue gallery or the Sinster Six doing the same. With characters like Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Electro, Vulture, Sandman and Kraven the Hunter (The Original Sinster Six).

"May your heart be your guiding key"Whenever I think of the rogues' gallery hanging out I think of the end of the first Sinister Six storyline where they were all complaining about Spidey, or the end of the PS 1 Spider-Man duology where each group of villains was playing Poker or Go Fish.

Honestly she probably made a mistake blowing up the bar. It’s helpful to know where the bad guys are shooting the shit

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe heroes now have the Jarvis Lounge which is like a classy bar
It looked for half a second like it’d be the new Avengers HQ. Which was a little weird considering alcoholics Carol and Tony are the leader and first mate. But then they traded up to an intelligent space city
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI’m sure the Bar would be nicer if it didn’t keep blowing up
Kingpin drinks there, after all
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI've long thought a good thing to have in a superhero setting would be a bar or club where you're only allowed in if you're wearing a costume. Most of the people there would just be ordinary folks who like doing cosplay, but by the nature of the club, heroes and villains could show up, have a drink, and meet up with each other without drawing attention, since most people would dismiss them as just someone in a Spider-Man costume or Thor costume or whatever.
The 90s show made it impossible for mainstream audiences to take Morbius seriously long before the movie did. Between his unidentifiable Eastern European accent, sleazy fashion sense, stalker-like behavior, getting in the way of Peter and Felicia hooking up and censorship making him less scary as a vampire, Morbius was cemented as a laughing stock anyone who watched that show.

The octopoid suckers that the Fox network's censors made Morbius have could be scarier than his usual fangs, depending on who you ask.
In an issue of Squirrel Girl that happened after Kraven died again, a time displaced Kraven shows up to tell Doreen to not watch the news about him.
So the end stance of that book ended up being that while Kraven did return to being bad, he didn't want to disappoint Doreen.
That’s a weird way to handle it, given the Spencer run had already implicitly tied that thread by implying the Kraven in Squirrel Girl was one of the many clones, which were all killed til we had only the current Last Son left. Not to mention that Kraven reforming was already pretty much a silly joke in a mostly gag comic (“guy built all around hunting becomes an animal rights activist!”). Kraven’s not really the kinda villain who’d get a redemption arc.
Kraven, in his dying breath, talks about how he tried to be a good person and failed, and we see a squirrel on-screen. It's clear what the implication was.
The "Kraven clones himself" plot existed solely so the character could exist in future books despite dying. It wasn't there to retcon old stories.
Yes, the Spencer run's actions there were shitty and disrespectful to the entire plotline.
Actually a Doombot is one of the worst insults you can throw to a longstanding handling of a character and pretty much exactly the kind of, "There's no REAL Kraven stories after The Last Hunt."
I lost a lot of respect for Spencer's run that I'd otherwise been really fond of.

You can tell that not all of us feel that way.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Been a bit since I read Hunted.
I will say the clone thing was a pretty clever move on Spencer’s part to ensure that this time future bad writers aren’t tempted to drag poor Sergei out of his send-off and just let the character rest as he should’ve been allowed to before. And they’ve done an impressive job from there making the Last Son his own person rather than entirely just a Generation Xerox. His role in the recent Wells-Lowe comics were pretty much the sole good point of the godawful “Spider Who Gobbles” arc by giving him an arc of facing the trials his father faced and proving himself by overcoming it (and even that didn’t get the attention it deserved, because nothing truly good comes of this awful run).
"Could have been good, but things didn't work out", is also the basic stance they've taken with Sandman since his time on the Avengers ended.
The redemption I'm probably most mad about not sticking is Vermin. His story was incredibly sad, and to follow it up by turning him back into a mindless monster to be fodder for crowd scenes just annoys me. We'll always have flashback stories.
There's a lot they could have done with Kraven as an Abusive Parent, his relationship with his family that never gets touched on, and other things they could develop with the character that never were and could only be done with the original Kraven.
Mind you, I feel like I was the only person who liked Kraven's children.
So I suppose I'm the guy who thinks the Kraven Mythology Post-Last Hunt is worth investigating.
